Xiangli Yao is an amazing 5-star Electro DPS that slows down enemy movement and deals a lot of damage to enemies as long as you know how to use him.
However, Xiangli Yao's Resonance Liberation state, Intuition, has a limited duration. So, you need to use up all of his Hypercubes to maximize his damage. He was previously a free unit during Phase 2 of Version 1.2 during the event called By Moon's Grace.

Xiangli Yao is an Electro Main DPS unit that can enter an enhanced state called Intuition after using his Resonance Liberation. During the Intuition state, his abilities, specifically his Resonance Skill and Normal Attacks will also have stronger variations. Your main goal during the Intuition state is to use Xiangli Yao's Resonance Skill - Law of Reigns three times before switching out to another character.
The best type of weapon for Xiangli Yao is a gauntlet that will buff his Resonance Liberation DMG since a lot of Xiangli Yao's abilities are considered Resonance Liberation DMG. With this, Xiangli Yao's ideal teammates should also buff Resonance Liberation DMG.
For stats, always aim for a 1 to 2 ratio for Crit Rate and Crit DMG so it will depend on your weapon, mostly. For Xiangli Yao's 3-cost Echoes, double Electro DMG is optimal. Also, his 1-cost Echoes should both have ATK%. For substats, aim for Crit stats, Energy Regen, ATK, and Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus.

Verity's Handle is Xiangli Yao's best in-slot weapon since the effects of the weapon specifically cater to his kit. It vastly increases Xiangli Yao's Resonance Liberation DMG for several seconds after using his Resonance Liberation. Do note that it is possible to extend the buff's duration as long as you can use Xiangli Yao's Resonance Skill before the buff ends.
If you do not have Verity's Handle, we suggest going for Abyss Surges which can increase his ATK, Energy Regen, Resonance Skill DMG Bonus, and also a Basic Attack DMG buff.

Yinlin's Outro Skill provides Electro DMG and Liberation DMG Bonus which is amazing for Xiangli Yao to increase the damage of his hard hitting abilities. Also, Yinlin inflicts a Punishment Mark on enemies that when attacked will send out a coordinated attack for even more damage.
Shorekeeper is the top choice for a healer-support as she is able to boost all allies' Crit. Rate and Crit. DMG as well as deepen their All-type DMG which is a desirable buff for Xiangli Yao who already has a devastating damage output.

The goal with Xiangli Yao is to stack his Forte Circuit and unleash powerful Resonance Skill attacks both in and out of his enhanced state.
Maintain a loop of dealing Basic Attacks and casting your base Resonance Skill to build his Forte Circuit, keeping in mind that his Resonance Skill's cooldown resets each time . This will maximize his damage output and effectiveness in combat.
Use Xiangli Yao’s Basic Attack combo and his Resonance Skill to stack Capacity and fill his Forte Circuit. Once this is filled up, cast his Resonance Skill: Decipher to deal a large burst of damage.
Xiangli Yao’s primary DPS comes after casting Resonance Liberation. In this enhanced state, he gains three Hypercubes, each allowing him to execute a powerful Resonance Skill when his Performance Capacity is full. To maximize his damage output, make sure to use all Hypercubes within the 24-second duration of his enhanced state.
The fastest way to build Xiangli Yao’s Forte Circuit in his enhanced state is by unleashing his Resonance Skill: Deduction plus Mid-Air Attack. Doing this will charge his Forte Circuit just in time to recast his Resonance Skill: law of Reigns.
Xiangli Yao's Resonance Liberation has the ability to slow down affected enemies once cast, which becomes effective for an overwhelming group of enemies or a downed overworld boss.
The best way to take advantage of his ability to slow down enemies is to cast his Resonance Liberation while enemies have their Vibration Strength broken. This will allow him to use up all of his Hypercubes uninterrupted and deal the most amount of damage.
