Timing your Basic Attack against certain enemy attacks parries them and triggers a Counterattack in Wuthering Waves. In this guide, you will learn how to parry enemies with Counterattacks, finding the right timing, and its effects!
List of Contents
Certain attacks by powerful foes will cause yellow rings, called Weakness Halo, to appear. Timing your Basic Attack so it hits the enemy as the rings overlap will trigger a Counterattack that stops the attack and nullify its damage.
Be careful when attempting a parry as it will fail and you will likely be hit by the attack if you attack too early or too late.
Not all attacks can be parried and only those with the yellow rings can trigger Counterattacks. Prepare to dodge if you don't see a Weakness Halo when the enemy is attacking.
Parrying attacks require your character to be next to the attacking enemy for it to work. This means that characters that use Pistols or Rectifiers need to get close to Counterattack enemies.
Likewise, even if your character is wielding a melee weapon, pressing the Basic Attack button while you're far from the enemy to attempt a parry will likely result in you getting hit instead, even with the right timing.
You can also press the Basic Attack button a little earlier when attempting a parry. Attack animations usually have delays before the attack actually links.
Determine the animation speed of your character's attacks to find out how early should you press the button so the attack itself hits the enemy as the yellow rings overlap.
Successful parries take a chunk out of the enemy's Vibration Strength, which is a gauge displayed below their HP. Not all enemies have a Vibration Strength gauge, as this is usually found on powerful foes.
Completely depleting the Vibration Strength gauge with parries and attacks immobilizes the enemy, rendering them vulnerable for a few seconds.
For certain quest-related bosses, depleting the Vibration Strength gauge with parries or other attacks also allows you to unleash a powerful Finishing Attack that deals devastating damage.
Parrying also generates a large amount of Concerto Energy. Accumulating enough Concerto Energy makes the icon of your other allies glow, indicating that you can trigger Outro and Intro Skills after switching.
