How Strong is Taoqi?

Strengths
• Rocksteady Shield can keep your party alive.
• Provides a Resonance Skill DMG buff with her Outro Skill.
• Strong Burst Damage on quick swap teams.
• Safe and easy to use for newer players.
Weaknesses
• Low sustained DPS, especially compared to other characters.
• Basic Attacks scale on ATK while the rest of her kit scales on DEF.

Taoqi is a slow character who excels at defense to keep her and her teammates alive. She also has strong damage on quick swap teams thanks to her Intro Skill activating her Timed Counters, but is quickly outscaled by other characters who prefer to stay out on the field.

Dauntless Evernight is Taoqi's best weapon since it provides the DEF stat. Take note that ATK stats don't really benefit Taoqi since her DMG scales on DEF.

Taoqi's Outro Skill is beneficial for Jinshi since most of the latter's DMG comes from their Resonance Skill. Taoqi can also provide shielding as an additional safety net for the entire team.

The Shorekeeper further empowers the former two Resonators, also accelerating Jinhsi's Incandescence gain by dealing Spectro Damage with her kit while she is on-field.

Danjin is a fellow 4-Star Havoc character, who uses her Resonance Skill often in her rotations and will appreciate Taoqi's Outro Skill buff.

Verina is another premium 5-Star Support that can grant an All-Type Damage Deepen, as well as provide Coordinated Attacks and lots of healing.
Wuthering Waves - BaizhiBaizhi Support Replacement
Baizhi is an F2P alternative who can provide a lot of healing if you do not have Verina or Shorekeeper.

General Rotation

1 The Shorekeeper starts the battle and charges the Concerto Energy and her Resonance Liberation until it is full. Use her Resonance Liberation to buff incoming Resonators.
2 Once Concerto Energy is maxed out, switch to Jinhsi to activate her Intro Skill and upgrade the Shorekeeper's Stellarealm.
3 Use Overflowing Radiance right away, a variation of Jinhsi's Resonance Skill, and then follow it up with another Resonance Skill. Execute Jinhsi's Basic Attack combo to use the final variation of her Resonance Skill, Illuminous Epiphany, to get Unison. Swap out to Taoqi afterward, consuming Unison instead of Concerto Energy.
4 As Taoqi, time your parries and utilize her optimal combos to maximize DPS with her Forte Circuit, as well as gain shields. Swap back to Jinhsi to get the Resonance Skill DMG buff from Taoqi's Outro Skill.
5 As Jinhsi, make sure to fully charge her Forte Circuit gauge before using the Resonance Skill called Illuminous Epiphany to maximize its damage. Continue to DPS with Jinhsi to charge Concerto Energy.
6 Swap to Shorekeeper with full Concerto Energy to detonate her Resonance Liberation with an Enhanced Intro Skill. Repeat these steps until the enemy is felled.

Resonance Skill Reduces Damage Taken

When Taoqi uses her Resonance Skill, she will generate three Rocksteady Shields. Keep in mind that the Rocksteady Shields aren't actual shields, instead, they only reduce damage from enemy attacks.

When an enemy attacks you while you have a Rocksteady Shield up, one of the Rocksteady Shields will disappear and Taoqi receives a Resolving Caliber stack.

Resolving Caliber Provides Shields with Strategic Parries

Resolving Calibers can be consumed by using Strategic Parries from Taoqi's Heavy Attack "Rocksteady Defense" or a timed use of her Resonance Skill to parry enemy attacks. Resolving Calibers also be consumed through the use of Taoqi's Intro Skill.

When a Resolving Caliber is consumed from a successful Strategic Parry, an actual shield will be produced.

Resonance Liberation Deals DMG Based on DEF

Taoqi's Resonance Liberation can deal a lot of damage and it scales on the DEF stat. Do note that ATK stats will not increase the Resonance Liberation DMG by much compared to DEF.

Outro Skill Increases the Next Character's Skill DMG

Taoqi's Outro Skill can have the on-field character's Resonance Skill DMG Amplified. This increases their Resonance Skill DMG.

The video was filmed in the Depths of Illusive Realm, where her Outro Skill cannot be used.

There aren't many combos for Taoqi since she's a very slow character that's reliant on her Resonance Skill being active. As such, this will be her general combo that's used for most situations, both for damage output and shield generation.

Skill Priority Explanation
Normal Attack ★☆☆☆☆ You're not meant to use Taoqi's Basic Attacks as most of her utility will come from other Fortes. Also, her basic attacks are extremely slow so it will be a waste of time to use it.
Resonance Skill ★★★☆☆ You should upgrade Taoqi's Resonance Skill to improve the healing it provides.
Forte Circuit ★★★★★ Upgrading Taoqi's Forte Circuit will increase the DMG and shield strength, the latter being essential to her playstyle as a tank.
Resonance Liberation ★★★★☆ Upgrading Taoqi's Resonance Liberation increases the damage dealt. This is her primary source of DMG.
Intro Skill ★☆☆☆☆ Upgrading Taoqi's Intro Skill is negligible since the damage upgrade doesn't contribute too much to her kit.

Taoqi's main priority is to provide shields for the team, and that can be improved on if her Forte Circuit is at max. Follow this up with her Resonance Liberation so she can deal decent damage whenever it is up, then her Resonance Skill for improved survivability.

if I'm being 100%, I don't quiet think this guide properly represents Taoqi. I personally think, especially if you have her S6, that she would fit better as a support. Taoqi's S6 description is poorly translated, it gives whoever is on field, while rocksteady shield is up, a basic and heavy attack buff, not just Taoqi herself. Which suggests her role is more of a shield/buff character, that strikes me as being closer to tank/support, rather than a simple Sub-DPS.
