How Strong is Yanyang?

Strengths
• The only character in the game that can recover Energy with their Outro Skill, can effectively be paired with a Main DPS that relies on their Ultimate • Assigned to the Sub-DPS role since she requires low field time while still dishing out some damage • Her Ultimate can group up enemies which can be used before switching back to the Main DPS • She can be obtained for free at the start of the game
Weaknesses
• At S0, she does not have any abilities that buff the team's damage or a particular element unless you equip her with a support-oriented Echo Set. Her S6, however, buffs the ATK of all team members when she uses a Mid-Air Attack after obtaining 3 Melodies, a mechanic of her Forte

Yangyang is a free Sub-DPS character that can group enemies and also has an Outro Skill that funnels Resonance Energy to the character switching in. But, she falls off once you unlock better Sub-DPS that provides DMG buffs.

Giving Yanyang Emerald of Genesis will maximize her damage during her field time due to its high base ATK and stacking ATK buff. It will also give Yangyang an Energy Regen increase. Commando of Conviction or Lunar Cutter are alternatives that buff Yanyang's ATK when she is on the field.

This team composition revolves around Yangyang feeding Energy using her Outro Skill to Rover (Spectro) to charge their Resonance Liberation. With this being an early-game team comp, Baizhi will be the team's healer and also buff the team's damage.

General Rotation

1	Yangyang starts the battle and charges the Concerto Energy until the other character's Resonator icons glow up. She can use her Ultimate to group up small enemies and quickly use her Resonance Skill to damage the enemies before swapping out.
2	Once Rover (Spectro) is fully charged, you can switch to them so they can use their Intro Skill, dealing some Spectro DMG. Switching from Yangyang to the Rover (Spectro) will restore their Resonance Energy.
3	Once Rover (Spectro)'s Resonance Liberation can be used, cast it to dish out some AoE Spectro DMG. Then, follow it up with some Basic Attack to charge their Forte Gauge, use their Resonance Skill, and do a couple of Basic Attacks after.
4	Switch to Yangyang again once the Intro Skill has fully charged up. If you need healing, switch to your Baizhi and use their healing skill for some healing.
5	Repeat the steps until all enemies are defeated!

Jiyan works well with Yangyang as she can battery his Resonance Liberation, increasing his DPS uptime. The Shorekeeper provides buffs to help both Jiyan and Yangyang deal even more damage, also healing them as needed.

General Rotation

1	Shorekeeper enters the battle first and charges her Resonance Liberation and Concerto Energy. Activate her Resonance Liberation when it is available, and swap to Yangyang with full Concerto Energy.
2	Rotate through Yangyang's combos to charge Concerto Energy. Make sure to use her Forte Circuit Heavy Attacks for more damage, and her Resonance Liberation to group enemies.
3	Swap to Jiyan with full Concerto Energy so he can receive Yangyang's outro skill buff.
4	With Yangyang's Outro Skill buff, charge and activate Jiyan's Resonance Liberation. Use Qingloong Mode to deal as much damage as possible to enemies in this time.
5	As Jiyan, charge Concerto Energy to full again, then swap to Shorekeeper to trigger her Resonance Liberation's detonation.
6	Repeat the steps until there are no more enemies left!

Charge Yangyang's Forte Circuit

Wuthering Waves - Yangyang Forte Circuit Gauge

Your goal during Yangyang's short field time is to optimally charge her Forte Circuit gauge by obtaining Melody stacks.

Abilities That Provide Melody

Ability	How to Do
Intro Skill	Switch in to Yangyang when the Concerto Energy is full.
Heavy Attack: Zephyr Song	HA → BA or Dodge Counter → BA
Full Basic Attack Chain	BA1 → BA2 → BA3 → BA4

When Yangyang switches in when the Concerto Energy is full, she obtains one Melody due to her Intro Skill. Using her Resonance Skill will then provide an additional Melody.

The final way to get a Melody stack depends on the situation you are facing. In most cases, you want to perform 4 consecutive Basic Attacks to maximize her damage on-field.

Use Yangyang’s Charged Attacks

After obtaining three Melodies, cast Heavy Attack: Stormy Strike and then follow it up with a Mid-air Attack: Feather Release.

To do the charged attacks, long press the Basic Attack button. Then, tap the button again when Yangyang is in mid-air for her to dive down!

Use Her Ultimate to Gather Enemies

Yangyang's ultimate creates a cyclone in front of her, deals Aero DMG, and gathers nearby enemies. Ideally, you want to cast her Ultimate when Yangyang switches in so that all of her succeeding attacks hit all the gathered enemies!

Trigger Yangyang's Outro Skill

Yangyang's Outro Skill recovers four Resonance Energy per second, which lasts for five seconds. Trigger this ability by fully charging the Concerto Energy. Then, make sure that you swap out to your DPS to charge their Ultimate!

Charge Heavy Attack During Resonance Skill

You can hold Heavy Attack during her Resonance Skill so that it charges and immediately goes off once the animation ends. Use this as often as possible so that you can activate her Forte Circuit as soon as possible.

Swap Character Once Mid-Air Attack Lands

Once her Mid-Air Attack lands and she's grounded, you can swap out to a different character since the final animation will not get cancelled. Use this in her Outro Skill combos to maximize her Echo Skill's buff timers.

Yangyang Skill Priority and Forte List

Basic Attack	★★☆☆☆	Her Basic Attacks are only really used to generate Melody charges for her Forte Circuit. Even if you'll be using this often, it's still a lower priority when compared to her higher priority skills.
Resonance Skill	★★★★☆	Yangyang's Resonance Skill is her secondary form of crowd-control, but you'll still use this more often than not. You can choose to upgrade this before her Forte Circuit if you prefer to spam this Skill's utility over her Forte Circuit's damage.
Forte Circuit	★★★☆☆	Outside of her Ult, this will be Yangyang's primary source of damage. As mentioned earlier, this Skill's priority is interchangeable with her Resonance Skill depending on your preference of her Resonance Skill's utility or her Forte Circuit's damage.
Resonance Liberation	★★★★★	This is Yangyang's most important Skill since her Resonance Liberation is her main source of crowd control, and it's also her strongest damaging move. Focus on upgrading this first before anything else.
Intro Skill	★☆☆☆☆	While the damage bonus is nice to have, this is still the lowest priority skill for Yangyang since every other skill is more important than this one.

Yangyang's Resonance Liberation is her main source of damage and crowd control, so aim to upgrade that first. Afterward, upgrade her Resonance Skill and Forte Circuit because it also provides additional damage and CC, similar to her Resonance Liberation. Her Basic Attack and Intro Skills have the lowest priority, as you would mostly use Yangyang as an Energy Battery via her Outro Skill.
