The Game Over screen will appear when both Mario and Luigi reach 0 HP and falls in battle. From here, you can select between two options:
• Try Again - restart the battle with the same setup.
• Back to Title Screen - go back to the title screen where you can continue your journey from the last checkpoint, where you can get better gear, change Battle Plugs, or grind extra levels.
There is no penalty from being defeated and doing multiple retries.
Losing multiple times in the same battle eventually unlocks easier difficulties in the Game Over screen. These make Mario and Luigi stronger for the current battle, but will revert to Standard difficulty after achieving victory.
