Tepetlisaur

Genshin - Tepetlisaur moving underground

Tepetlisaur is the first type of Saurians that players will meet in Natlan and is the main companion for the people of the "Children of Echoes" tribe.

This Saurian type can efficiently mine gems and minerals and can move rapidly underground—an exploration mechanic that players can utilize, even on cliffs.

Enter Orange Holes to Climb Upward

Genshin Impact - Tepetlisaur Hole

You can find orange glowing holes on the wall around the mountains and cliffs of Natlan. As a Tepetlisaur, to climb upward at a much faster rate compared to climbing normally.

Koholasaur

Genshin - Koholasaur swimming

Koholasaurs help the "People of the Springs" tribe navigate through waters and even the lava-filled Liquid Phlogiston areas.

This type can get you through water or Liquid Phlogiston areas with ease and help you gather materials and complete challenges around them.

Jump on Water Rings

If you happen to find a Water Ring in the waters of Natlan, you can use them as a Koholasaur to jump at a high distance.

Yumkasaur

Genshin - Yumkasaur traversing terrains

Lastly, the Yumkasaur type that you will commonly find around the "Scions of the Canopy" tribe excels in foraging fruits with their Flamegranate Pectin.

They can use this special substance to forage fruits by grabbing them from a distance. The same substance can also be used to dart around like using Four-Leaf Sigils.

Yumkasaurs can use Flamegranates as an explosive weapon to be fired at enemies. This will deal Pyro damage to enemies.

Rename Your Saurian with the Reaffirmed Accord of Appellation

Genshin - Reaffirmed Accord of Appellation

Completing the Lost in the Woods quest also gives you the Reaffirmed Accord of Appellation, which enables you to rename 'Little One' if you have changed your mind. Like Wanderer's renaming, you can choose any names as long as it does not violate the rules.

Note that the game specifies that you can only name your Saurian up to a certain limit.

How to Use Saurians

Use the Saurian Indwelling Mechanic

Genshin - Saurian Indwelling mechanic

Saurian Indwelling is an exclusive mechanic in Natlan that allows the Traveler to "possess" Saurians and use their abilities to explore and interact with the environment. This ability becomes available when a Saurian is nearby.

Interact With Spiritsconces

Genshin - Saurian spiritsconces

The Traveler can also "transform" into a Saurian by interacting with Saurian Spiritsconces—sigils found all over the Natlan region that symbolize a Saurian type.

These sigils are common around time challenges involving terrains that can be utilized by a specific Saurian ability.

Needs Phlogiston to Use Abilities

Genshin - Phlogiston meter

Saurians need Phlogiston to use their unique abilities. This is similar to a character's stamina bar in that the ability can be used if there's Phlogiston available.

Hold Character Icon to Transform Back

Genshin - Saurian How to Transform Back

To transform back to your character while in the Saurian Form, all you have to do is hold down the button that symbolizes a character gliding.

New Exploration Mechanics in Natlan

Saurians are a key mechanic in exploring Natlan. When "indwelt" into a Saurian type, the Traveler can utilize their unique abilities to better navigate through terrain of Natlan through swimming, climbing, and zipping.

Common Natlanian Companions

Genshin - Ranjit about Saurians

Saurians are a race that co-exist with Natlan's people and serve as both their own race and companions to Natlanians, with some Natlanian warriors even fashioning their outfits to match their Saurian companions.
