Favonius Codex's Windfall effect can only be activated when the active character equipping this weapon deals a critical hit while on-field.

This means that abilities that are used off-field like Lisa or Sucrose's Elemental Bursts won't proc this effect even if it crits, until they are switched back into the field. The energy particles generated can be shared to another character regardless.
