The price at which you can purchase Pals from the Pal Merchant depends on each Pal's hidden Price stat. This is the Pal's base price and is then scaled up depending on the Pal's level.

The price multiplier ranges from 1.65x at level 1 to 9x at level 50. For example, if a merchant were to sell a level 12 Univolt with a Base Price of 4,280, they would sell it for 14,124 Gold Coins because of the 3.3x price multiplier due to its level.

Pal Merchants sell regular Pals for a high price the rarer they are. They can be found nearby Merchant NPCs in Small Settlements or an open area with a campfire as their light source.

Pal Merchants only sell a limited number of Pals, unlike Black Marketeers. If you're looking for rare and stronger Pals in exchange for Gold, then the Black Marketeer would be more suited to your needs.

If you ever lose your pals by dropping them on death or dropping them intentionally, you can retrieve them by buying them from a Pal Merchant equivalent to their base price and level.
