The attack stat in Palworld is responsible for calculating the base and final damage of a player's weapon. Read on to learn the player damage calculation, attack stat explained, items and skills that increase the attack stat, and recommended Pals.
List of Contents
Damage scales based on the player's Attack, their equipped weapon, and the enemy's defense.
The player's base damage is calculated as follows:
Player Damage Calculation |
---|
(Weapon Damage x Attack Value) ÷ Enemy Defense |
For example, a player with 100 Attack wielding a Common Handgun (250 Attack) and shooting the Training Dummy (100 Defense) will deal 250 damage per shot on average. This value is affected by a modifier that can increase or decrease damage by up to 10%.
Because players start with 100 Attack, it's easier to think of the stat as the percentage of your weapon's attack. Players with 100 Attack will deal the weapon's base attack value while a player with 200 Attack effectively deals double damage.

After base damage is calculated, it is then affected by two additional modifiers which are needed to calculate the final damage before accounting for type effectiveness:
Base Damage Modifiers | ||
---|---|---|
1 | Enemy's level relative to the player | |
2 | If the enemy is an Alpha Boss |
Before applying final damage, the damage calculation checks the levels of the player relative to the enemy and if the enemy is an Alpha Boss.
After these are checked, the game will then calculate the player's final damage output.
Condition | Result | |
---|---|---|
If Player Level = Enemy Level | THEN | Deals base damage without any modifiers. |
If Player Level > Enemy Level | THEN | Deals increased base damage. |
If Player Level < Enemy Level | THEN | Deals decreased base damage. |
If the enemy and the player are roughly around the same level, then the base damage is not affected by any modifiers listed above.
However, if the player is at a level advantage, they will deal increased weapon damage to the enemy.
The same logic follows if the player is at a level disadvantage, they will deal decreased weapon damage.
Another thing to note would be if the enemy Pal in question is an Alpha Boss. These extremely powerful Pals have inherent resistance to player damage which significantly cuts the final damage of the player's weapon damage.

The attack stat value is mainly used to calculate the base and final damage of the player's weapon relative to their enemy's defense. You can raise it by investing stat points into attack, where each point raises base Attack by 2. Raising the attack stat will subsequently increase the player's weapon damage.
Items and Skills that increase the attack stat or give similar bonuses are multiplicative, which means that they are multiplied to the attack stat, effectively multiplying damage as well.
Stacking these bonuses is additive so having a Gobfin and 3 Pals with Vanguard, all of which boost attack by 10% on their own, will effectively be counted as a 40% boost. This will multiply your current Attack stat by 1.4x, making every additional point in attack more valuable.
When considering these bonuses as separate stacks, they do not amount to a particularly large damage increase individually, as their power comes from stacking them together.
This strategy of increasing player damage is only recommended if the several attack bonuses are stacked together.
Accessory | Rarity | Description |
---|---|---|
Attack Pendant | Common | Attack increased by 5% |
Attack Pendant +1 | Uncommon | Attack increased by 10% |
Attack Pendant +2 | Rare | Attack increased by 15% |
Attack Pendants are accessories that the player can equip that give an attack percentage bonus. Common variants raise attack by 5%, Uncommon (Green) by 10%, and Rare (Blue) by 15%.

Some food can increase your attack by up to 20% for 10 minutes when consumed. You can only have one food effect at a time, but these can stack with other attack buffs.
Passive Skill | Effect |
---|---|
Vanguard | 10% increase to Player Attack |
Vanguard is one of the best passives that a Pal can have when looking to focus on player damage. Similar to items that give the player an attack bonus, these are separate values that multiply with the final damage calculation as well!
Another advantage of this passive is that the bonus stacks with the number of Pals present in the party that possess Vanguard.
So the attack bonus gained from the passive can reach a total of 50% if all Pals in the party have Vanguard.
Best Passive Skills and How to Get
Partner Skill (Pal) | Description |
---|---|
Angry Shark (Gobfin) |
Unleashes a powerful attack when activated. Passively powers up the player's attack while this Pal is in the party. |
Angry Shark (Gobfin Ignis) |
Unleashes a powerful attack when activated. Passively powers up the player's attack while this Pal is in the party. |
Gobfin is an excellent Pal to bring along as a party member, as its Partner Skill, Angry Shark, passively increases the player's attack stat. It appears to be a 10% buff for each Gobfin at Level 1 and 20% at Level 5.
These Pals are recommended as the active Pal when focusing on a build that focuses on player damage as the attack stat is multiplied even further when dealing critical hits to weak points. Hitting weak points provides another 50% boost to the regular final damage.
The following Pals specialize in taking advantage of that damage bonus, which will increase the player's weapon damage overall.
Partner Skill (Pal) | Description |
---|---|
Hawk Eye (Robinquill) |
Increases the player's damage dealt to enemy weak points while fighting with Robinquill. |
Hawk Eye (Robinquill Terra) |
Increases the player's damage dealt to enemy weak points while fighting with Robinquill. |
Robinquill's Partner Skill raises the Attack stat when hitting enemy weak points while it is the Active Pal on the field.
Partner Skill (Pal) | Description |
---|---|
Aerial Marauder (Vanwyrm) |
Increases the player's damage dealt to enemy weak points while mounted. |
Aerial Marauder (Vanwyrm Cryst) |
Increases the player's damage dealt to enemy weak points while mounted. |
Vanwyrm's Partner Skill also increases Attack when hitting weak points, but only while the player is mounted on it.
