How to Start Quests

Quests are an integral part of Monster Hunter Wilds since it lets you hunt monsters and get rewards upon completion. Check out the different ways to start quests right here!

How to Start Quests

Talk to Alma

To start a quest, you must speak with your Handler, Alma. You can find her roaming around the Base Camp and Kunafa Village. She goes with you whenever you set out in the open, so you can start quests anytime.

Join or Post a Quest

Once you talk to Alma, you'll be able to accept a multitude of different quest types from the different menus presented to you. One would be posting a quest yourself, and the other method would be joining quests posted by other players in the lobby.

Attack a Monster

Alternatively, if you're out in the wild without a quest accepted and you're fighting a monster, you will automatically start a new quest after you deal a certain amount of damage to it. This is to prevent you from accidentally starting quests simply because you hit a monster

Some Monsters Can't Start Quests

As a note, there are some monsters that won't start a quest even if you fight them. You can check by looking at the map and hovering over a monster to see if they have "Unable to Create Quest" under their strength and description.
