Cooking and eating meals will give you strong buffs in Monster Hunter Wilds. See how you can cook your meals, how to eat them, and what benefits they bring you.
Entering your tent, be it in the Base Camp or in a Pop-up Camp allows you to Grill a Meal.
Alternatively, you can also cook a meal using the Portable BBQ Grill. While exploring, look for a safe spot where monsters won't attack you. Afterward, deploy your Portable BBQ Grill, and prepare your meal as if you were preparing in a tent.

Select Recommended Meal to see a meal that the game thinks will benefit your current loadout. If you are satisfied with the meal, select Add Ingredients and Cook to cook your meal.
Alternatively, you can choose to Cook Only with Rations. Doing so will only provide you with the increased Health and Stamina, as well as whatever small buffs the Ration provides.
Custom Meals provide you with more flexibility in your meal preparation.
When selecting Custom Meals, you will first select a Ration, which will decide what buff you receive alongside the Health and Stamina increase. Next is the Additional Ingredient, which will increase your food buff's duration by 20 minutes, while providing a Food Skill
Lastly, you will pick the meal's Finishing Touches, which provides Elemental Resistance, as well as more Food Skills.
If you have a Custom Meal that you like, you can save them using the Favorite Meal option.
This allows you to save up to 40 Custom Meals, removing the need to select the needed ingredients every time. You can also rename these Favorite Meals, making it easier to look for the one you need.
Meals provide a variety of buffs, such as increased Attack, Health, and Stamina, as well as powerful Food Skills that will be a huge help during hunts. These Food Skills range from decreasing Stamina reduction, to increasing the amount of Health you recover when healing.
