The story starts with you! Choose your appearance at the beginning of the game to start your Lental Region adventure. You can choose from the different appearances you can see in the image above.
Your main role in the game is to snap pictures of Lental Regions’ wild Pokemon to complete your Photodex Photo and research them in their natural habitat. There's a lot of Pokemon to discover, but don't worry, as you have Rita and Phil on your team. You're in good hands!

Professor Mirror is the main researcher in the Lental Region accompanied by his assistant Rita. He researches Pokemon and Lental’s natural environment at the Laboratory of Ecology and Natural Sciences (L.E.N.S.). He is also the one who will evaluate each Photodex Photo you take.

In the last part of the official Gameplay trailer of the New Pokemon Snap, you will notice a man in the lab together with Professor Mirror, who looks very familiar. His identity was not mentioned before. But now with the game released, we can confirm that Todd Snap from N64 Pokemon Snap is indeed in the game.
Todd Snap is a professional Pokemon photographer from Kanto Region and is now in the New Pokemon Snap to help Professor Mirror plan their big survey of Lental.
