While I was a bit young when they first came out, I remember watching them once they came to cable all the time. Seen them dozens of times. So it was interesting to get the behind the scenes and more. I can imagine how things were for the actors, good, then not good, but once again looking back decades later it's all good now. The impact these movies have had on pop culture is vast and it's a bit telling that even tad dated, they still hold up over time. Listening to this makes me want to go back and watch them all again....more

So listening to this and getting the history of tech through Kara's eyes was interesting. I find I have some of the same feelings as her, am glad that I don't have facebook and never want to get one, can't stand the guy. Have other thoughts of the tech big wigs, seems like most start out ok, but then the money rolls in and they change and the money becomes king, their morals and standards fly out the window. I think if you are a fan of tech, this one would be a good read....more

I find him to be very funny and he has good points about what he talks about. The book talks about social media in a way that makes sense, how so much on there is not "real" and it's easy to get jealous or feel down because your life isn't as fabulous as what you see. This is all things you know, but it's nice to get the reminder again....more

I first found Rex on Twitter, was around when he blew up over the dolphin block or charge tweet. Since then through his tweets, I've learned a lot about him, both good and bad and he is still one of the best follows. When I heard he had a book coming out, I wanted to check it out, even convinced my library to get the audio book.
I liked how frank Rex is in the book, but that doesn't surprise me. Often trolls on Twitter will think they have him in some big gotcha moment and post his mug shot at him and he right away says, yep that is/was me. I did that and now I'm better, have moved on.
It was interesting to see how Rex moved through the basketball world, from a kid, to college, to the Pro's to working in the office of Pro's and then nothing. Interesting to see where he ran into problems and how those problems made him make other choices that maybe weren't good at the time, to hitting rock bottom and getting out of that. Overall Rex seems happy now, something that has seemed to illude him for a long time, so that is good, I hope he can stay there....more

The whole where is Kate, followed quickly by where is Charles. What I do know about this family, is that you could not pay me enough money to want to be part of it, to live by the rules, to have my every action/word scrutinized, to be pitted against each other for "face time" in the press, let alone the jealousy that is within the family. I think they are all to blame at some level, some more than others and you reap what you sow. We, the public will never know the truth or real story, just what they want us to know....more

I'm immensely grateful about all the good things that came from Henrietta and the HELA cells, that are still around to this day. I find I'm so very pissed off that things weren't explained to her when the cells were taken and how everyone, but Henrietta and her family have profited from them and how the family was treated over the years. People can be all blasé all they want, but if it was their family member, they would be just as upset. I also think there needs to be some sort of rules of who profits from things like this, it shouldn't be everyone but who provided the source material....more

So I thought why not check it out and I'm so glad that I did.
This was the perfect Monday book, lots of feel goods. It was fun to see more of the insider stuff, to see how wild the 1st season was for everyone and how they all felt about the later seasons. It also sent me down a rabbit hole. They would talk about different things and I would have to google the songs, then find more clips, 10 ten lists, so much fun. Part of me wants to re-watch the whole show, part not, because I was a Marissa hater and not sure if I can deal with her again. Might be best to leave it as things are now. I will say, I did go request the e-book from the library now, hoping there are pictures in that. But the audio was great to listen to as I worked today....more

I was too old for Keenan's Nickelodeon days, but he is a favorite of mine when he shows up on SNL.
I found this one to be fun. It felt like you were sitting down and Keenan was telling you a story. Loved hearing his journey in his career, where it was great, things that were bad, and how in awe he is of the people that he's worked with over the years. It's fun to see that. All in all, Keenan really seems like a good dude....more

Of course I knew Henry Winkler as The Fonz, loved watching the show as a kid in reruns. That is about all I knew about him, other than he seemed very nice and kind on Twitter. It's crazy how playing The Fonz pigeon holed him for so many years and how much he was in his own head about things. When he hit highs they were high, but he struggled so much afterwards. I did love how he never gave up and how excited he seems to be for life. I'm also glad to see that as kind as he seemed on Twitter seems to be just him. ...more

Things were talked about frankly in this book, done in a way that you could understand what the Wetterlings were going through at the high trauma times and how they managed to live their lives in the in between and finally when they had to face the hardest truth ever and how to deal with the bad guy and learning what happened to Jacob.
As a kid who grew up in the 70' - 80's, it seemed like there were a lot of kidnappings, missing kids were on milk cartons, I remember when Adam Walsh was kidnapped and the huge story that was. I didn't live in MN when Jacob went missing, but did move here in the mid 90's, went to college in WI (an hour and half from the Twin Cities) in the early 90's, so it feels like I've always been aware of what happened to Jacob and when the anniversary's would pop up, everything was in the news again. Jacob never really left people's thoughts, it was always there in the back ground. I even remember the day that it became public knowledge that he was found and how bittersweet that was. It was all anyone talked about, glad that he was found, but wished it had been alive.
I really love the legacy that Jacob has left behind, from his family and Patty's relentless support of missing kids, to the 11 things to remember him by. For someone who had a short life, he left a big impact!...more

I've worked for companies that have been owned by private equity and have seen some of the things they talked about. This whole book boils down to, I got my money, fuck you losers that got screwed!
I think what makes matter worse is that our government, that should be holding many of these actions in check, especially when these companies have been shown where they have been wrong or not running things according to the laws, do nothing. ...more

This is a tough book to read because I'm a white woman and I'd like to hope that if I lived in that time I wouldn't be like the women described in this book. But as women we know how bad we can be to others for no reason at all. What really stunned me the most was how women were described after the war and how much they lost, how they would not tell their slaves they were free, how they tried to trap them in service worse than when they were slaves and then later (meaning from then until today) they helped make sure segregation and more went on, creating these organizations that have echoes today or are still around. Again, this was a hard book to read, but we should know our history, even if it makes a person uncomfortable....more

Knew Ron Howard more as a direction with the big movies, never really had heard of Clint, but this book was fun to listen to. Both Ron and Clint narrated it and I have a feeling that most people would recognize Clint if they saw him, he was in so many things, just not quite the star his brother was.
I loved the stories both told of their hey days as kid actors, how fortunate they were with their parents and the role they played in their lives. From guiding them to not taking all the money they earned. It was fun to hear about the shows, the other actors they worked with. It was a veritable who's who of Hollywood.
I liked the way the brothers closed the book, you could tell that they are great friends and happy for the other's success....more

My library had it, so I thought why not check it out. I honestly thought it would end up in my dnf pile. Instead I found myself very much drawn in, was rage listening to it, often times yelling at what this POS was doing. Sadly I'm old enough to have a bit of a clue of what he was doing in the late 80's and early 90's, but wasn't really paying much attention to the world, like most Gen X'ers.
Now as an adult who pays close attention to things you can see his finger print all over how us "little guys" are treated in the business world. How it's shit on your people, I got mine. The rate of pay for these CEO's drives me nuts, but that is nothing compared to how they fare when they fail and still gets 10's of millions of dollars. Sure there are a few "good" companies out there, but not enough. I really hope it changes...or maybe we need to burn it all down and start over. Could hardly do worse....more

I thought Harry did a great job of being frank, good and bad stuff, even the things he did that were stupid. He realized it and owned up to it, something most of his family does not do. I feel bad for Harry with the way that his family has ostracized and betrayed him, all in the name of the institution. I was glad that Harry found Megan, that the two of them were able to break away and live life on their terms and find the peace they want....more

Since then I've admired how he's handled himself in such hard times. When this book popped up on my library's website, I thought it would be interesting.
Volodymyr Zelensky's background was interesting, an actor, politics sort of seemed like a game to him, but when he needed to he stepped up, became the person his country needed him to. So many good songs of my junior high days. But like many people I kinda forgot about George Michael. As I listened to the songs that were 30-40 years old, it amazed me how they still stood up and were good today and how young George was when he came up with them. I wonder what George's life would/could have been like had been able to say from the start he was gay and be accepted. His struggles hiding so much of who he was at his base had to wear on him, causing his massive drug use. Even later in life, when he was outed, it seemed like he was still fighting those demons. I'm sad George is gone, but at least we have his music, which is still so good!...more

With this book the big thing that came across was how much fun Jim had in his work, how he wanted everyone to enjoy his muppets, that they weren't just for kids, but adults too. His childlike enthusiasm made everyone want to be around him, to work for him, to be having fun too. While Jim did have some flaws, it was still hard for people to not love him and want to do their best for him. It's too bad that he died so young, I'm sure he would have brought so much more fun to life, but at least we have his work to remind us of him....more
