I liked that qThis one was predictable from the start, but it was fun to see Nick and Jodie on their journey. The added bonus was Zyana, who was cute!
I liked that quickly Jodie figured out why Nick was so standoffish and even called Nick out on things. From there it gave them a base to start to build things. I also liked how Jodie asked that they take things one day at a time, but if it need to stop, they needed to be adults and talk about things.
You knew something would happen when Nick would run scared and it sure happened. It's easy to see why Nick got so scared, I probably would have too in the same situation. While I hated that Nick ran, I did like that he played by the rules and told Jodie he couldn't do it any more. What really sucked was Nick knew even as he said the words it was the wrong thing.
I was happy that 2 conversations with a couple of hockey people brought some great insight to Nick, that he realized what was important in his life and what was missing. It made the HEA all the more happy because now Nick was finally allowing himself to be happy.

I think the best part of this one was Xavier's grandmother having a chat with him towards the end. It was just what the boy needed to hear.

I wanted to see what drove Moira and Gideon apart, how things could have gone from the best ever to I can't stand to be around you. After learning what happened in the past it was a big surprise, but I thought Moira would have been more sensible.
I didn't blame Gideon for moving on, or trying to. I didn't blame him for making a decision to do what he could to finally leave the past in the past, because quite frankly he should have made those moves long ago, it would have been better for his mental health. But with that being said I was glad that he didn't follow through on those plans, that his sense of duty made him want to set things right first.
The whole bad guy was pretty easy to figure out. I didn't get why anyone else didn't see it. The level of hate and the steps the person took was crazy! I was glad that Moira was able to win in the battle, that at the end she did what she needed to, that she picked herself.
Loved the weddings at the end, loved that Moira and Gideon managed to pull one over on everyone else.

I thought the first part of this one was slow, things really didn't start to pick up until all those secrets started to come out. I hated that it seemed like Grace was the only one that didn't have the info, yet they all were depending on her to figure out who the traitor was, seemed a little unfair. You know that when Grace learned the big secret it was going to gut her and it did. It annoyed me that as it happened no one seemed overly concerned with the effect this secret would have on Grace with the exception Zack.
I was glad that Grace was finally able to figure who the traitor was and they were finally punished, allowing the family peace.

I did like all the friend that surrounded Hailey and Sawyer. I loved how each and every one of them chimed in on things. It seemed like everyone's opinion changed as things went on, it was interesting to watch. I liked how everything settled out. I thought it was the best resolution for them all.
I found myself intrigued by the next couple. I have a feeling there will be lots of drama there.

I really liked Amanda, liked how up front she was with Sam and their one night, heck, even what she mistakenly took from him, she made sure to return it before he even realized it was missing. Now Amanda's work life, that was a train wreck. I hated the harpy she worked for, hated how she let herself be treated and how she had to hide so much of herself and her life, while basically working 24-7.
While very awkward seeing Sam again I was glad that Amanda did, that she was able to talk to him about some of her issues. I hated that she felt like had to hide what she did, but understood why with Sam being so successful and his whole family being so succesesful. Amanda really fit in with them and they welcomed her with open arms. I also really liked the frank talks that Sam and Amanda had about their lives and was glad that Amanda finally came clean about her job.
The drama at the end was crazy! I did find myself cheering Amanda on when she finally had it nad put a bitch in her place, even as she started to freak out later about it. I was happy that Amanda had great friends around her to help her navigate things while Sam was unreachable and how Sam jumped in to help once he was aware. But the best was the bathroom scene at the end, just perfect!

These books are normally pretty straight forward, the couple discovers they are mates, one or both of them fight the attraction, they finally give in, and then there is some action in the larger story arc. This one doesn't follow that pattern. In fact it is so far from it you are left scratching your head wondering where things are going.
At one point you know something is off, just not sure what or why. Then suddenly the actions become clear and you are horrified for one of the characters. What happens to her is worse than rape, I think what makes it worse is that there are people who would help if her is they knew, but they don't and when they do find out things become really interesting.
Other parts of this book will make you rethink just what evil is. Not only has evil touched these warriors by killing two-thirds of their members centuries ago, it comes back and taunts the warriors that are left with hope. Hope that they can become what they were, hope that they have a chance of beating them, and hope that there will be a happy ending for everyone. But true evil takes that hope and turns it against them causing more damage than the first act caused, because now can they really trust any good thing that happens, can they trust people that are supposed to be on their side, and can they live through betrayal after betrayal. Those questions aren't answered in this book they will have to wait until future ones to find out.

I reI'm sad that this is the last book in this series. I liked seeing how these guys took the second chance they were given and made something of it. I really liked Angel from the start, but thought he was getting shafted by his brothers. They used him as a work horse, called him family, but he was just outside that circle, not really brought in. I don't think any of them realized it or did it intentionally, it's just how things worked out when covid hit their world.
I really appreciated the real world view of covid in this book, the struggle of keeping the business alive was real and made me wish I could help. I also liked seeing how Deanna's family business dealt with covid, again it seemed real and made you wish you could shop there to help.
I wasn't sure about Deanna and Angel together, they seemed to not match, but as things went on they were perfect for each other. The other was able to boost each other up, they were there for them, showed them a different way to see things.
The ending made me happy, loved seeing the Brewery thrive and become such an integral part of the community, also loved seeing Angel and Deanna living their lives happy....more

I found it interesting that both Deck and Tori hated each other for the same base reason, bad things happening in their past with people in the same professions. I wondered how that would work for them to get over that deep seeded hatred for any kind of romance. But it did, things were naturally revealed and each could see good in the other. It also helped that both were passionate about why people were od'ing left and right and wanting to do something about it.
The more that they found out the more that it seemed like the bad guy might be a little too close for comfort. It all came down to the end when Tori had the blinders ripped from her eyes and Deck realized how much he cared for Tori and how scared he was for her.
Things ended in a good way, the good guys won, but the best was when Deck's mom met Tori and had a little surprise of her own. So funny!...more

I liked Adrian, but he seems lost working at Walker, he wants the ties and yet is afraid of them too. Through this book we find out why and you know part of the reason is he thinks they all will turn on him when they find out what he did. I have a feeling we are going to learn that the powers that be at Walker have known all along and it didn't matter to them at all.
Adrian and Pri were good together, you could feel the instant attraction and I was glad that Pri didn't get too mad at learning just who Adrian was. Pri really understands Adrian because she too did bad stuff when a criminal defense lawyer, things she regrets. Together I think they have a chance at getting the guy they are going after.

Something about Brandon being so young and vulnerable made me root for him and I was glad that Diego was there to help Brandon when things spun out of control I thought both Brandon and Bree took the news of werewolves pretty well, no freaking out, but then again thinking your son was on drugs after being shot and almost dying, being a werewolf isn't so bad.
The attraction between Bree and Diego was strong right away and I liked that both of them were open to figuring things out and how fun was it that Bree is the one that made the first move. So among showing Brandon the ropes as a werewolf, Diego also dated Bree. It was fun to see Diego walk the line between Alpha werewolf and dad with Brandon, but it was something both of them ended up loving. I loved how Bree found out about The One and her likely being that person for Diego.
The crimes the SWAT guys were working were crazy! I sort of guessed the bad guys early on, but learning what was going on and how was actually a bit gross. I felt like as I listened to what was going on I was right there with Bree, feeling her fear, feeling her make choices she felt she didn't have and trying to do whatever she could to keep her son safe. I think Bree made the right choice in how she talked to the kidnapper, trying so hard to create a bond, one that would save her son. Bree also made the right choice when she brought in people to help her, the lawyer maybe not so much, but for sure Marshall, who she has a past with. They worked together to figure things out, one little nugget of info leading to another to another. Then when they have most of the story Bree's husband was there to tell it all, or at least what the part the past played in things. I was on the fence with what Bree's husband told, it was awful, but I wasn't sure if we could trust the way he put himself in such a good light. It was amazing how that came into play later.
At the end Bree was facing the kidnapper, who told some uncomfortable truths to Bree. The one thing I wish that Bree would have done was to give the signal, to see what her husband would choice her husband would have made. I think that would have made her choice at the end easier to make. I liked that Bree didn't want to let everything to go when it seemed like they were safe, that she thought her husband should pay some sort of price. I was a bit stunned at how hard Trey pushed back on that and wondered if they could survive as a family. It made what happened at the end easier to take, made me feel sorry for the real victims, the women who were used and there were a couple of them.
The fast forward at the end made a lot of sense. I was glad that Bree had someone that knew everything that she could talk to, glad that the family was living life happy and the bad things can stay in the past....more

I liked that the book bounced back and forth between during the war and after, although as times it drove me nuts. I would just get into what was going on and something pivotal would happen and we'd switch times, making me groan. I thought the narrator did a great job of making the listener realize the switches in time.
I really like the friendship that the 3 women had, loved how they were so into their jobs. It was a bit stunning to them and to the reader the one time they actually talked about what the did and they realized why they were kept apart, so no one could really know what was going on. Part of me thinks that was not a good idea (they could have bounced thoughts off each other to figure out more), part of me thinks it was a great idea (too many would have been tempted with that much knowledge).
It was interesting to see the women develop romantic relationships and how that changed their friendships and the advice they all gave each other. It was probably sound advice, yet not. Each woman really seemed to know herself and found someone that was perfect for them despite circumstances.
I hated what blew things up, hated that Beth bared the brunt of horrible things. I know Mab and Osla didn't mean to do as much damage as they did with their words, but it happened at the wrong time. Later on though, they were able to take away some of the hurt with their actions.
As frantic as work was during the war, the work they did leading up to the wedding was more. I really loved how the old team was brought back together and how some of them were a bit stunned with what they learned, what was right in front of their face and they were to shut off to see it.
The ending made me smile, love that all 3 women seem like they are going to live happy lives, not sure that was going to happen before that last week, but above all glad to see that repaired their friendship and once again save the country....more

I wasn't sure about pairing her with Shot, but it worked and they worked together. He let her think about something other than work and she let him have time away from the club to just be. They had a lot to figure out, between her family heavily into law enforcement and his biker club. They managed to navigate those things pretty well, yet there was all the trouble with Presley's former best friend, who actually was her worst enemy. It was fun to see Shot chat with Case and Hill and come up with a plan to finally get the best friend. Of course they were doing this on their own, not letting any of the family or Presley know, which I knew was going to come back and bite them in the ass. And boy did it! So much drama at the end, people were hurt, you weren't sure if they were going to survive, all of which could have been prevented with a heads up to the women in the family.
