What I Just Finished Reading: I had a good week. Three books and a novella: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting by KJ Charles, Notes on a Zombie by Daniel Betts, and The Whisper Man by Alex North. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: I'm 20% through The Reformatory by Tananarive Due. Her writing is excellent but I find it a little cliched.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: I've got two physical books awaiting pick up at the library, so probably one of those. I may go with Diary of a Bookseller first.

What I Just Finished Reading: I haven't read much this week. On Saturday I spent the day in the sun at our local Peach Festival. Lovely time, bought some Christmas presents, had a peach sundae, but the heat and the walking KILLED me. I was a write-off on Sunday, and even Monday and Tuesday I felt lethargic and sore. I am too old and fat! (Mostly fat.)

Anyway, two books: Beach Read by Emily Henry and The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: The Gathering by CJ Tudor finally made it to the top of the pile. I've just started it but I quite like it so far.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: Next will definitely be The Guncle Abroad because it's due back at the library soon. Then I plan to make a list of books-for-prompts and tackle those (plus whatever is picked at my Dusty Bookshelf and Finish What You Started challenges.)

Since my library came back to full strength a week ago, I've had two books transferred, had them arrive at my local branch, picked them up and read them both. I had put my name on the list for 10 books: one of them is now winging its way to my local branch, hopefully for pickup tomorrow or Friday. And I've been able to get two ebooks that I couldn't get before. Oh, glory days!

What I Just Finished Reading: Four really good books this time: Reprieve by James Han Mattson, The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things by Ann Aguirre, A Beginning at the End by Mike Chen, and A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel by KJ Charles. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: I just started Malefactor, the final book in the War With No Name trilogy. I'm hoping for a happy ending for Mort(e) and D'Arc, but I have tissues handy.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: I have The Gathering by CJ Tudor in transit, so hopefully that one will arrive soon and be next. I just looked on the library website and I'm also #1 in line for 2 or 3 more books, so I may have to mess up my "focus on unfinished challenge prompts" if those all come in at once. (Although one does also fit a prompt or two.)

What I Just Finished Reading: 3 books last week: Twilight Falls by Juneau Black, Deathless Divide by Justina Ireland, and Karma's A Bitch by Shannon Esposito. In that last one, Karma is the dog's name... and he's male. Shannon missed something there. LOL (Reviews below)

What I'm Reading Right Now: I haven't picked up my next book yet. I finished the last one on Monday so should have started the next by now, but I worked late last night and then was sooooo tired...

What I'm Planning to Read Next: Still keeping with clearing up the prompts on my almost-done challenges. Next up is Reprieve by James Han Mattson, and I also have 5 books listed on Give Me Five for somebody else to pick the one after that.

What I Just Finished Reading: I'm actually now a little ahead of schedule with 5 books (well, 4 books and a short story) read this week: Murder Never Knocks by Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins, The Cool Kids by Jason Pelligrini, Phantom Pond by Juneau Black, Into The Forest by Jean Heglund, and Rise of the RAMs by Christopher Artinian. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: I'm about 1/4 of the way through The Honeys by Ryan LaSala, which is very creepy.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: I bought a new charge cord and managed to get an old tablet working so that I could use Libby, so I now have access to at least *some* library books while my city continues to try to get everything back online after our cyberattack. So my goal is to alternate between library books and books I have, either physical from Little Free Libraries or from Kindle Unlimited.

The Honeys is a library book, so up next will be one of the books from my Dusty Bookshelf, probably Best Tales of the Apocalypse edited by DL Snell.

My bestie and hubby return from their 4 month long vacation today! I put up a little welcome home banner downstairs and some balloons. Going to be nice to have her back but weird to hear people downstairs again!

What I Just Finished Reading: I got back on track with my reading since last time and read 3 books: Commune: Book 2 by Joshua Gayou, Far North by Marcel Theroux, and How High We Go In the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: I'm halfway through The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Is this a YA book? It's so simplistic.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: I had gone to the Central library last week. This week I went to my local one to look for one book I knew they had. I ended up wandering around and picking up two more that I just saw on the shelves. Midnight Library was one, and the other was Arthur and Teddy Are Coming Out by Ryan Love. I had seen the Love book at Central and didn't get it because I'm trying to be mindful of "stop getting the library display books, you never like them", but then when I saw it here at my local library I thought it must be a sign. So I will probably read that one next.

What I Just Finished Reading: Only one book, Strange Love by Ann Aguirre (review below.)

I started Deep End of the Ocean and got 24 pages in before I realized that I'd read it already. Other than that, I haven't started anything new because I've been focusing on trying to get caught up on a whole bunch of other things that I've let slide, and I'm still working a lot. Hope to get back on track reading-wise this week.

What I'm Reading Right Now: Nothing at the moment.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: Book 2 in the Commune series by Joshua Gayou, which was picked as my series to catch up on over at the Finish What You Started challenge.

25. Strange Love by Ann AguirreCollapse )

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! A big hug to all of you. :)

What I Just Finished Reading: It's been a good week! 4 books and a short story, woot woot! I read: The Night She Disappeared, The Family Upstairs and The Family Remains, all by Lisa Jewell, Tails of the Apocalypse, an animal-themed anthology, and Graceful Burdens by Roxane Gay. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: I've just started Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I'm not sure I love the interview format, but I'll give it a go.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: I'm going to keep borrowing books from Amy's bookshelf since I seem to be on a roll. I think next up may be The Deep End of the Ocean by Jacqueline Mitchard, because that was also recommended to me in the past, and then maybe This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straud, which is apparently a Freaky Friday type situation.

Sorry that I haven't been keeping up yet again. I thought work was settled and back to normal. And it's not. Still needing a lot of time at the site and trying to work out my time management.

What I Just Finished Reading: Since last week I technically read 3 books, though one was only a short story published individually: System Collapse by Martha Wells, The Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner, and The Prince and the Troll by Rainbow Rowell. Reviews below.

What I'm Reading Right Now: I'm currently reading The War on Horror: Tales from a Post-Zombie Society by Nathan Allen. It's currently average.

What I'm Planning to Read Next: Next may be The Graveyard Book book by Neil Gaiman, and then I should probably get back to my library books.
