I'm officially on holiday again for one week. Wooot!
I kicked off the week by spending the day at the park for our outdoor Festival of Friends. Krystle and I walked down, then spent hours checking out all the vendors. There were some beautiful and some beautifully funky art pieces, gorgeous jewelry, etc. We finally decided to get some soft ice cream and find a seat for The Wilkinsons, who were the whole reason I'd chosen Sunday as the day to attend. We ended up right in the front row. :)
The Wilkinsons were
amazing! Amanda Wilkinson looked like a little pixie and her voice was just beautiful. She has so much energy on stage, a lot of charisma and personality. She's also a total goof during a lot of the between-song patter. The band was plagued by some sound issues for the first two songs but they got it sorted out. Steve and Tyler Wilkinson almost seemed to be background for The Amanda Show, but I got the impression that that's the way they like it. Tyler did get to have his moment in the spotlight during "Jimmy's Got A Boyfriend". Great day! I got tons of great photos... :)
( Two PhotosCollapse )We grabbed dinner during Crystal Shawanda's set (but could hear her, and she sounded GREAT), then made our way back to the stage. We were planning on sitting through Leon Redbone for the headliner, The Roadhammers. Unfortunately, at this point the area around the bandshell was PACKED and there were no seats (and due to rain the day before, the grass was too damp to sit on comfortably.) Krystle was perfectly willing to stand at the front during The Roadhammers, but my days of standing on cement packed like sardines between hundreds of other people are loooong over. Since my sister Helen lives right across the street, we headed to her apartment instead, had a visit, grabbed a lawn chair, and then went back across to the park. Krystle went to the front of the stage; I plunked my lawn chair down about 20 rows back.
And that's when the rain started. First a few small drops, then a few large drops. Some dude announced that if it continued to lightning the band wouldn't go on. It continued to lightning. I sat. Krystle stood at the front. And then... BLANKETS OF RAIN. As everyone around me scattered, I continued to sit because that's where Krystle knew to find me. She did, and withing 2 minutes we were both
drenched. It was like we had taken a shower with our clothes on! So alas, no Roadhammers, but we did spend another hour or so at my sister's place getting dried off!
It was a long, fun, hot & humid day (approx. 105 Fahrenheit with the humidity), which may be why my brain fried and gave me this
( crazyass dreamCollapse )Seriously, milk? If there is one obsession I cannot imagine Keller having, it's milk.
My subconscious is so weird.
