The Strange Ball (Japanese: ストレンジボール, Hepburn: Strange Ball) is a Poké Ball introduced in Generation VIII.
While not available as an item, the ball is the placeholder ball used for a caught Pokémon transferred to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus via Pokémon HOME when the Pokémon's original ball is not available in the game (e.g. a Pokémon with a modern-day Poké Ball transferred to Legends: Arceus). The Pokémon's original Poké Ball, however, will be retained when the Pokémon is returned to HOME.
If the player uses the "I Choose You!" emote before choosing a Starter Pokémon in Cabo Poco, they would be holding the Strange Ball for the duration of the emote.
