Mr. Mailman, also known as Incidental 154[1], the mailman, Guard 1, and Policeman 2[2], is an incidental character who first appears in the episode "Something Smells." He is classified as a secondary character-type incidental.
Description[]
He is a light tan fish with light purple lips and a dark purple dorsal fin. He wears a light blue mailman uniform and carries a brown mailbag with the word "MAIL" on it and wears a dark blue hat. In his older appearances, his mailbag was colored blue like his hat.
Guard 1[]
He is colored yellow with a dark yellow dorsal fin and lips. He also has a black mustache and wears a dark blue police uniform with a badge on the front that also has labels on the sleeves that resemble the badge along with a matching hat that has the label on it.
Policeman 2[]
He is colored orange with a lighter orange dorsal fin, lips, and eyelids much like Incidental 118's orange colored variant, he also has slightly smaller and rounder eyes. He wears the standard police officer uniform which consists of a white shirt with a large police badge, blue pants with a red stripe, black boots, and a blue police cap. In his older appearances, his eyebrows were thick lines instead of being similar to the Cop and his hat and pants were colored a lighter shade of blue.
Personality[]
Like most incidentals, Mr. Mailman doesn’t really have a consistent personality, but one common trait that he has been shown to have in a decent amount of his appearances is a dislike or annoyance of SpongeBob. He has even been shown to be a member of the 'We Hate SpongeBob Club' in the episode "Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club." Although there has been a very few times in the series where he doesn’t appear to have any issues with SpongeBob, such as "Under the Small Top."
Names[]
Mr. Mailman is Incidental 154's most consistently used name in the franchise. It was used for him in "What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?," "Walking the Plankton," "Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club," and "Patrick the Mailman." Although he has had three other generic names:
- In "Krabby Road," Guard 1 is named Frank.
- In "Squid Plus One" and Find a Missing Star, he is named Norton.
- In The Patrick Star Show episode "Tattoo Hullabaloo," he is named Jim.
Role in series[]
Mr. Mailman has made more major roles than minor ones. He is normally portrayed as a mailman throughout the series but has also been seen among other incidentals in crowds in a few episodes as well. He has also been commonly portrayed as someone who is part of the police as Guard 1 or Policeman 2. He makes his biggest role yet in "Squid Plus One."

SpongeBob says "Hi" to him, but due to his rancid breath, his skin subsequently disintegrates, and reveals two inside layers, the postman inc as his second, and Judge 2 as his third.

He accidentally delivers SpongeBob's award to Patrick at the beginning of the episode.
"Procrastination"[]
SpongeBob gets mail from him while he is working on his boating school essay. SpongeBob tries to waste time by asking him about where he gets his mail from, before he reminds SpongeBob that he has an essay to write.
"Idiot Box"[]
He arrives by vehicle to deliver a TV to SpongeBob and Patrick. They then dump the TV and play in the box.
"One Krabs Trash"[]
He looks at Mr. Krabs funny after he calls SpongeBob beautiful.
"Chocolate with Nuts"/"Chocolate with Nuts: Puppet Edition!"[]
He delivers the mail to SpongeBob's mailbox at the beginning of the episode. Though he gets frightened and runs away when he finds SpongeBob inside the mailbox.

Squidward gets a package from him delivering his new snail, Snellie. He pronounces Squidward's name wrong by calling him Mr. Tennisballs.
"SpongeBob Meets the Strangler"[]
He is seen as a bus driver when the Tattletale Strangler attempts to strangle SpongeBob.
"Chimps Ahoy"[]
He delivers SpongeBob's Goofy Goober back scratcher at the begging of the episode.
"Karate Island"[]
He delivers the tape from Condo Island to SpongeBob where he happily hugs him for delivering the tape. Mr. Mailman then tells him that he doesn't need to get all sensitive every time he delivers his mail.
"Hocus Pocus"[]
He delivers SpongeBob's magic kit and SpongeBob himself to SpongeBob's mailbox.
"Waiting"[]
He at first delivers a bunch of envelopes to SpongeBob while he was waiting for his free toy to be delivered. He later in the episode comes to deliver the Kelpo toy package SpongeBob was waiting for.
"What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?"[]
He is seen riding a bicycle until SpongeBob greets him and causes him to trip.
"Spongicus"[]
He and Fred watch Plankton with bored expressions on their faces when he announces the grand opening of the Chum Coliseum.
"Boating Buddies"[]
He is part of Incidental 106's and Nerd 2's experiment where they attempt to shrink him to the size of a grain of sand with their shrink ray. However, they accidentally shrink SpongeBob, Squidward, and Mrs. Puff instead and the three of them run to a potato chip on the ground. Mr. Mailman breaks himself free because potato chips are his favorite snack and almost eats the chip with the three of them on it until Weenie 2 sprays him with water and causes him to growl angrily while SpongeBob, Squidward, and Mrs. Puff fly off the chip.
"Krabby Road"[]
Guard 1 shows Guard 2 the jail, but when he shows him Plankton's cell, the latter goes in his mustache and gets out of the prison. He and Guard 2 later put Plankton back into a new prison cell at the end of the episode.
"Not Normal"[]
Mr. Mailman appears at the Krusty Krab, where he becomes unsatisfied with the paper patties created by SpongeBob's computer.
"Dear Vikings"[]
He finds SpongeBob's letter to the Vikings at the Bikini Bottom Post Office and throws it into the trash due to not having a real address on it.
"Ditchin'"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118 arrest Incidental 108 for holding Quasi-Gummy Chewy Candy Fish, thinking he had committed cannibalism. He and 118 later arrest Mrs. Puff for ditching jury duty.
"Grandpappy the Pirate"[]
He delivers Redbeard Krabs' message to Mr. Krabs at the beginning of the episode.
"Toy Store of Doom"[]
Guard 1 appears as a police officer where he closes the Toy Barrel store for the night with Incidental 107, narrowly avoiding to catch SpongeBob and Patrick trespassing.
"Growth Spout"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118 are called over to Mrs. Puff's house after she sees Mr. Krabs escaping from her backyard. They just lazily shine their flashlight at her fence and tell her that he is probably gone now. Later, when he and Incidental 118 catch Mr. Krabs with his sack full of Squidward's food, he asks him what's inside the sack and Mr. Krabs tells him that he is practicing to be Santa Claus. The cop believes this and gives Krabs a ride back home in his car.
"Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy"[]
Policeman 2 first appears with Incidental 118 laughing at the hairless Sandy and calling her a "hairless goat." He later appears at the Krusty Krab with Incidental 118 to arrest Sandy for public nudity.
"Yours, Mine and Mine"[]
He appears as the driver for the subway SpongeBob and Patrick argue in.
"Kracked Krabs"[]
He mails SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs to the Om Hotel.
"SpongeBob's Last Stand"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118 arrest SpongeBob and Patrick, and then drop them off in the middle of nowhere.
"The Play's the Thing"[]
He delivers the script to Squidward's play at the Krusty Krab to a false Squidward made of clear balloons. He also gets freaked out by the false Squidward and runs out of the Krusty Krab in fear.
"Sponge-Cano!"[]
Policeman 2 and the Cop are seen taking Incidental 107 away from the mayor after he thinks that the mayor will do nothing about the volcano. Here he’s colored light olive green.
"Shellback Shenanigans"[]
He appears as the bus driver for the Club Shell bus that Gary the Snail was riding in.
"Tunnel of Glove"[]
Policeman 2 stops Patrick from entering the Tunnel of Glove because it is dangerous inside. He also hears SpongeBob scream from inside the ride and mistakes him for a little girl, as well as mistaking Pearl for a little boy. He is seen again later in the episode saying to everyone that the ride is about to blow, and runs away.
"The Hot Shot"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118 go after SpongeBob and Tony Fast Jr. for speeding.
"Sentimental Sponge"[]
Policeman 2 and a purple Incidental 118 appear as two sanitation police officers that were called by Squidward to condemn SpongeBob's house for being too filthy. He tells SpongeBob his house will remain condemned until he throws away all of his garbage. Here he is colored slightly lighter orange, his lips are slightly darker orange and his dorsal fin is slightly dark red.
"Sweet and Sour Squid"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118 arrest Plankton at the end of the episode from believing that he was the one responsible for Squidward's bad clarinet playing. Here he’s colored olive green with purple lips and dorsal fin.
"Walking the Plankton"[]
He delivers Mr. Krabs' free tickets at the beginning of Plankton's slide show where he gets annoyed by SpongeBob.
"Mr. Krabs Takes a Vacation"[]
Guard 1 and Guard 2 appear as security guards for the Bikini Bottom Mint where the two of them get tied up by the robbers. He also appears as Policeman 2 with Incidental 118B where Mr. Krabs tosses the robbers into their police car.
"Pet Sitter Pat"[]
He delivers SpongeBob his mail at the beginning of the episode.
"Fiasco!"[]
Policeman 2 is one of the three of Bikini Bottom's finest police officers that were assigned by Farfel Bainbridge to guard the Fiasco. He also chases Plankton with the Fiasco throughout the episode.
"Are You Happy Now?"[]
He delivers Squidward's package from SpongeBob and mistakenly calls him Squidward "Tentaclees."
"The Good Krabby Name"[]
Mr. Mailman first appears at the very beginning of the episode. Mr. Krabs spots him walking by the Krusty Krab. He then takes a picture of him and puts it on the wall of customers who have not eaten at the Krusty Krab yet. He then appears at the end of the episode along with an angry mob trying to get to SpongeBob and Patrick. Mr. Krabs spots him and allows him to come in and takes him to the top of the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs celebrates having his very last customer that has not eaten at the restaurant to do so while Mr. Mailman looks confused.
"Little Yellow Book"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118B put Squidward in stocks for reading SpongeBob's work diary.
"Squid Defense"[]
Policeman 2 casually arrests Squidward after he brutally beat up the stranger.
"Jailbreak!"[]
Policeman 2 appears as one of the police officers that hide inside the Krabby Patty secret formula safe so that they can arrest Plankton and the other prisoners. He is also seen pushing Plankton with his police baton back to the Bikini Bottom Jail. Here he is colored mud brown with a lighter brown dorsal fin and lips.
"Squid Plus One"[]
His biggest role yet. He goes to Squidward's house to deliver the invitation to Galleria Diphteria and tells Squidward what the "plus one" means. Later, when Squidward is looking for a friend, he finds him, who says he is more of an introvert than a kidder. Squidward finds out that he also likes toast points and fancy art galleries, but after he reveals that he hates clarinets, Squidward leaves and he gets upset.
"The Executive Treatment"[]
Policeman 2 and Incidental 118 escort Scooter from the Business Industries due to being fired, all thanks to Patrick. He and Incidental 118 later arrest Patrick due to thinking that he is a corporate spy. Policeman 2 then has SpongeBob visit Patrick in prison where he believes that Patrick has escaped when he puts his executive disguise on, allow Patrick to walk out of the prison. He is colored similar to "Sentimental Sponge."
"SpongeBob LongPants"[]
He appears as an usher and forbids SpongeBob from entering the movie because of his long pants.
"Snail Mail"[]
He delivers SpongeBob's letters from his pen pal. Four Incidental 154s also appear in SpongeBob's fantasy for his pen pal's funeral where they put the pen pal's body who is sealed in an envelope into a mailbox grave.
"House Worming"[]
Prickles tries to mail the clam far away by tossing him into his mail bag, although he later finds him brutally beaten, therefore discovering his plan failed.
"Sportz?"[]
His mail truck accidentally drops Sandy's package of sports equipment in front of SpongeBob's house.
"Cave Dwelling Sponge"[]
Policeman 2 is seen near the City Hall entrance when Spongy Spongy was seen on the roof. He only appeared in the storyboard and was replaced by Incidental 118 in the final episode.
"Krabby Patty Creature Feature"[]
He devours an entire patty monster which turns him into a patty fused with the one he devoured.
"Pat the Horse"[]
After SpongeBob accidentally bumps into him from riding Patrick, he stuffs SpongeBob in a mailbox and calls him a rodeo clown.
"Krusty Kleaners"[]
Guard 1 appears colored as Guard 2 at the very end of the episode where he notices the tank company destroyed and claims that he quits.
"Girls' Night Out"[]
When SpongeBob looks through a virtual reality helmet, he sees Mrs. Puff as Mr. Mailman, who delivers his driver's license.
"One Trick Sponge"[]
SpongeBob runs right through him with excitement after he does his magic trick for the first time.
"Under the Small Top"[]
He appears happily delivering SpongeBob's mail, apologizing there are no packages for him. He then mistakenly delivers the Circus Sea Fleas that SpongeBob ordered to Squidward's house. Upon seeing Squidward's pink leg warmers, he reveals his own, saying they are leg warmer buddies. Squidward tells him to go back to fashion school, which he eagerly agrees to.
"Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club"[]
He appears as a member of the 'We Hate SpongeBob Club' where he listens to the other members' stories about their sufferings with SpongeBob. At the end of the episode at SpongeBob's house, he is seen using SpongeBob as his speaking sponge and tells the others about his story about suffering with SpongeBob that had to do with him coughing up SpongeBob's mail for weeks. He even does so right before the episode ends.
"Patrick the Mailman"[]
He delivers a new rock to Patrick only for him to be crushed and injured by it which causes Patrick to take over his job. He is later shown to be the mailman flying the helicopter when SpongeBob shoot a bunch of mail at the windshield, which causes him to fall down sideways as well as slicing a barrel in half with the helicopter blades that reveals Bubble Bass hiding inside it. At the end of the episode, he mails SpongeBob and Patrick to the Bikini Bottom Jail.

He delivers a letter for Nosferatu to Squidward at the beginning of the episode where Squidward accidentally sprays his urchin poison onto his eyes after he spooks him.
"Welcome to Binary Bottom"[]
A hologram of him made by a drone delivers SpongeBot's mail during the opening of the episode.
"SpongeChovy"[]
He delivers SpongeBob and Patrick's mail and gets turned into a faux-chovy.
"The Dirty Bubble Bass"[]
He appears as a police offer who demands that Bubble Bass and the Dirty Bubble stop after their robbery of the First Nautical Bank. The Dirty Bubble runs his car over, then him, covering them in dirt.
The Patrick Star Show[]
"There Goes the Neighborhood"[]
He delivers mail to the Snail Lady's house, only for her snails to maul him and reduce his head to a skeleton. He says, "They don't pay me enough for this." His skeletal form later appears as one of the puppets the alien uses.
