The Red Dragon is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Projectile Item used primarily to attack rivals.

Description[]

The Red Dragon's icon takes form of Sir Lancelot's Ddraig Goch sword being thrown. A pink trail of energy is formed in the area it was swung.

Overview[]

In gameplay, the Red Dragon can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Dragon Hunter Lancelot. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Red Dragon if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.

Once obtained, the player can utilize the Red Dragon by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the user tosses Ddraig Goch like a discos, which will quickly travel down the lane it was deployed on in front of the user. After flying down the lane for a while, Ddraig Goch will then ricochet in the opposite direction. Opponents caught in the path of Ddraig Goch will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. In addition, Ddraig Goch can travel through obstacles, destroy Badniks it comes into contact with, and will continue moving after hitting rival characters. To avoid Ddraig Goch, the playable character has to either step out of its lane.
