Pink Spikes is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] Pink Spikes' icon takes the form of a saw blade made of pink energy which leaves a blue trail. In gameplay, this power-up becomes a pink energy beam before settling into a stationary and spinning pink sawblade-like orb.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Pink Spikes can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Whisper and Lucky Whisper . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Pink Spikes if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy if she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Pink Spikes by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the user fires the Pink Spikes down the lane it was deployed on in front of the user. As it moves forward, the Pink Spikes will pass through any obstacle. After traveling down its lane for about one second though, the shot will stop up and assume its stationary form. If a rival character touches the Pink Spikes' stationary form, they will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. If the shot manages to hit anyone when it travels down the lane before stopping, they will take damage at that point too. To avoid the Pink Spikes, the playable character has to either step out of its lane or jump over it.
The Pink Spikes can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 4, 10 and 16 respectively. For each upgrade, the player will increase the damage dealt with the Pink Spikes.
