U'odh Nunh is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is a former member of the Company of Heroes and the leader of U tribe.

History[]

Early life[]

U'odh trained for a long time in the burning sands of the Sagolii Desert before becoming a mercenary, using the skills he honed there to earn a name within the Company of Heroes' ranks. Along with the Company of Heroes, U'odh honed his skills and defeated Titan and Leviathan several times. However, before the Calamity, the Commander Lorens, suddenly disbanded the Company and sent its members on separate ways, requesting that they continue to uphold the Company's creed. U'odh was chosen as one of five judges to assess any who sought to repeat the Company's exploits. Upon returning home, U'odh challenged the previous nunh to combat and claimed the position of nunh. With the victory he gained his harem and the leadership of his native U tribe.[1]

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn[]

Five years after the Calamity, the Kobolds again summoned their primal. In the absence of the Company of Heroes, the Scions sought out Wheiskaet to abrender information about the Titan. Wheiskaet did not trust that the Scions had the ability to take on the primal and refused to divulge any information before they proved their worth. And to do so, the Warrior of Light should follow the instructions of the former members of the Company to prepare a feast.[2]

To obtain the ingredients, the Warrior of Light meets with U'odh Nunh at Forgotten Springs. After the Warrior of Light tasted his skills, U'odh Nunh said that the ingredient would be the flesh of a Wellwick worm. Once the hunt is done, U'odh Nunh says that first he needs to prepare the meat and promises to send it to Wheiskaet. Before the Warrior of Light returns to Costa del Sol, U'odh Nunh asks him to deliver a bottle of onyx brandewine to Wheiskaet on his behalf.[3] After the banquet is done, Wheiskaet revealed the banquet was an excuse for his comrades to assess their worthiness to face Titan. The five members of the Company of Heroes agreed that Warrior of Light had the qualities necessary to defeat the Lord of Crags.[4]

Needing the support of the U tribe to quell the Amalj'aa threat, Wigstan fears that U'odh Nunh will only listen to an adventurer much stronger than himself and asks the Warrior of Light for help in doing so. Although U'odh Nunh respects the strength of the Warrior of Light, he is reluctant to risk the lives of his tribe to fight the battles of outsiders.[5] Only after the Warrior of Light rescues three U tribeswomen who were ambushed and captured by the Amalj'aa that the Warrior of Light is recognized by the tribe members as an ally of the U tribe. Seeing the willingness of his tribe to repay the kindness of the Warrior of Light, U'odh Nunh formally promises to help Wigstan.[6]

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker[]

Due to the threat of the Final Days in La Noscea, Merlwyb has reunited the members of the Company of Heroes once again and suggests reforming the Company once more to help track down the blasphemy that has appeared in the region, and prevent the Crushing Tide from summoning the Leviathan. With Commander Lorens absent, the members agree to appoint Warrior of Light as the new acting commander.[7]

Following the orders of the Warrior of Light via linkpearl, Landenel and U'odh Nunh defended Candlekeep Quay from an attack by the Crushing Tide. After the attack the Company of Heroes sets out in search of Doww, who is hiding on a deserted island in the Cieldalaes. At the location the party encounters the blasphemy and discovers that it originated from the Indigo Matriarch, queen of the Sahagin. The party manages to escape thanks to a shot from Lorens that does not reveal himself.[8] Knowing that Lorens' abilities would be needed, the Warrior of Light meets with him and recruits him back into the Company of Heroes. Eventually, Wheiskaet warns that the blasphemy has been drawn to the Sastasha Seagrot. Warrior of Light, Lorens and Merlwyb set off to confront the beast. In the middle of the fight, members of the Company arrive on the scene and help defeat the Indigo Matriarch. Once everything has been resolved, the Company members are finally reunited with their former commander and the Company of Heroes is dissolved once again.[9]
