I want him. I want him and I don’t care if I’m gonna go crazy the moment I taste him.
A sexy read, but not much else. I enjoyed the teasing and the sexual tension between Chai, Mafia boss’ son, and his new bodyguard Leo, but the plot is terribly boring. The side characters are forgettable, the action and plot also underwhelming.
He kisses my chin, then my lips, hovering above me. “Yeah? You want to feel my hard cock pressing against you when I make you come with my hand?”
The public teasing and dirty talk was the best part, even better than the smut itself. These two were definitely sexy together, but beyond that I didn’t really feel any connection. All in all, a quick, flirty read with a super simple plot.

// Harvey wants revenge on the Mafia family that killed his family, and he’ll do anything to achieve it. He didn’t expect to fall for Nico, the man he was using to get what he wanted. //
These cliffhangers are torture. I enjoyed the mafia politics here more than I thought I would, though. I also enjoyed the revenge plot line, the scheming, the subterfuges.
Maybe someday, if I survive this, then I will dream of Nico. I will dream of him like this—perpetually young, beautiful, and beside me. I will dream of the Nico that nobody else knows. I will dream of the Nico that thought he loved me.
I loved seeing them fight their own feelings along the way. Harvey struggling to decide between using Nico for his revenge or protecting him from it. And even though it’s only in Harvey’s pov, you can still feel Nico fighting between caring for Harvey and not trusting him. The PAIN I tell you, ‘cause I just know they would be perfect for each other without the politics and betraying uncles and dead family looming over them.
I’d like to say that it’s not a five star because of some big important reason, but really it’s just ‘cause it lacked some spice for me. I like my romances extra piccante, and unfortunately this was mild at best, with lots of closed doors scenes. So I’m really hoping the next installment will not only bring more romance, but also some nice spice.
We’ll drag each other into the depths of hell, each side unwilling to let go, because living with the pain and having some of you is better than having nothing at all.

Would it be inappropriate to propose to a man while he’s in the middle of threatening someone’s life?
Scary Mafia badass killer unravels with a single touch from his Sparrow, his Sir.
Was I expecting Xaviaro, stoic hitman/enforcer, to be a submissive and whimper on his knees for Sparrow? Absolutely not, but oh, it was delightful. I’m not a Mafia girlie, but I ate this up. The possessiveness, the passion, the domination — Sparrow and Xav were fire and ice, and I loved their explosive chemistry.
« We could be so beautifully dangerous together.»
The vendetta plot line, the fiery romance, the whole Mafia family was all just really well done and entertaining. And the spice?? Hold up, it needs its own quote and paragraph.
“How good do you think you could be for me?”
Big badboi getting dominated by a little spitfire is such a great and uncommon trope, and I loved the contrast between the characters, both physically and in their demeanor, the way they were both savage and tender with each other, tearing each other apart only to put the pieces back together again. The bondage, the praise, and a number of other very dirty things, it was all super hot and mind-melting.
I enjoyed every minute of this, from the not-so-cute meetcute to the vengeful murdering, and I can’t wait for more of this series. And do I sense a rival mafia bosses romance in our future?? Spectacular, give me 14 of them right now.

“Some days I think we might even be two broken halves of the same whole, where darkness meets shadow. You can’t let me go, and I . . . I would rather take my last breath than live even a second without you in it.” “Even in Hell?” “Yes,” I admitted roughly, “even in Hell.”
I loved seeing the characters grow, how the cruel mafia world shaped them, how they had to hide their true selves, how even when they were supposed to hate each other they couldn’t stay apart.
« I want you, I almost whispered. Please tell me you want me, too. »
The unrequited love, the pining, the unsent texts — it was all beautifully painful and extremely well done. Those texts broke me. Even through all the pain, the fight for survival, you can still feel how they care for each other, how in a different world they might be able to love each other. The last chapter simultaneously gave me everything I wanted and not fucking enough. I can’t wait to see their HEA, because I NEED it. [thankfully, the author promised me it will all be worth it… after a wee bit more pain. “What’s love if not a little pain?” Looking forward to it. ]

Lies had a way of killing you, but ours had made us stronger.
I really wanted to love this one. But, alas, mafia romances are really not my thing. When should one decide to give up on a genre?
We were fucking magnets, and we were bound to be attracted to each other no matter how deadly the outcome might be.
There were still some aspects that kept me hooked, mainly the romance portion. I liked the possessiveness between Sal and Theo, their fierce passion. They were pretty explosive together. Too bad the mafia politics overshadowed the love story.
There were a lot of side characters, and it was a bit of a struggle to keep up with the mafia family, the betrayals, the sub plots. The time jumps, while they allowed for a better grasp of the characters backstory, were a little jarring and made me lose, in turn, the connection between said characters. We miss whole chunks of their relationship, of them falling for each other. So much so, that when we get to the love confessions, I was not feeling the love. The ending was a complete contrast to the rest of the book - way too sugary sweet, a complete 180 compared to the tone we get before the epilogue.
I also felt a little mislead by the content warnings, (view spoiler)[which were blood play and CNC. I didn’t find either of those things here, unless licking a bloody lip is blood play, and dub-con (no previous mention/discussion of any roleplaying of non consent) is considered CNC. Making someone suck on your dick while pointing a gun at him (even if he’s enjoying it) is not CNC (unless they talked about doing similar scenarios off page). (hide spoiler)]
Great writing, which helped me keep on reading, but unfortunately not enough for me to really enjoy this book.

“The things I would do for you are unspeakable.”
Slow burn, mafia romance.
Ashlyn Drewek has managed to make me like a mafia romance. I had all but given up at this point. There’s always something about them that makes me quit half way through, but this book put all the others of the genre to shame.
I got to admit, the merit goes a 100% to Misha. Mafia badass, cutthroat killer, and exactly what Marek needed. Misha was unexpectedly sweet and caring, and incredibly protective. I loved the dichotomy between his work and how he treated Marek and the kids. Ugghh, I’m still swooning and drooling. I also adore prickly assholes who really need cuddles, so of course I fell in love with Marek as well.
Despite this being a spin-off of the Solnyshko Duet and me having only read the first book (half-assed I might add, ‘cause, again, I’m not really into mafia), I didn’t feel like I was missing much of the world-building or backstory as I feared I would. Sure, there were some references to past events and characters, but I felt the author still managed to convey the full picture even for those who haven’t read the previous books.
I absolutely loved the author’s more paranormal books, so not much of a surprise that her writing and talent managed to convert me to the mafia dark side.
