The Transparency Crystal[Japanese title], also referred to as an Invisibility Stone[from internal data], is an item first appearing in Kirby's Return to Dream Land (and since reappearing in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe), which renders its carrier both transparent and ethereal, making them immune to nearly every kind of attack and allowing them to pass through enemies unharmed. The stone itself is a large radiant gem that grows unstable the longer it is carried, and starts to glow red when it is about to break.

The Transparency Crystal can be picked up, carried, and thrown like many other items in the game. Similarly, the character holding the stone can only make one jump and cannot use any attack but a slide, although the slide can't break Star Blocks or damage foes. When thrown, the stone can deal minor damage to enemies. Enemies will be unable to see the carrier of the stone, nor will they be able to inflict any kind of damage, which means the only way to be defeated with the stone is to either hit an environmental hazard or fall into a bottomless pit.

Using the Transparency Crystal, the carrier can pass through barriers made of a similar material, which is often required to obtain Energy Spheres and other collectibles.

Trivia[edit]

  • In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, characters' eyes will still be fully visible while carrying the Transparency Crystal.
  • A similar sort of barrier exists in Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler, which is a different color and can be phased through using Dimensional Vanish.
