The Robin[1] (つばめ[2] Tsubame?, lit. "Swallow") is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a race of bird Animals used for raising Chao.

The Robins made their appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, where they are shown to inhabit Little Planet. In this game, Robins will appear and happily fly around in Wacky Workbench alongside other Animals after certain conditions are met. The players can either ensure a good future for this Round by collecting its Time Stone or destroying the robot transporter hosted there to make the Robins appear in the good future, or they can destroy a Zone's Metal Sonic hologram to make the Robins appear in every timeframe of said Zone.

Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut[]

In Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, Robins can alter the stats, appearance and personality of a Chao in gameplay. These animals are found inside Badniks. Simply destroy the Badnik to release the Robin inside, and then touch it to pick it up. When released, the Robins have a green sphere around them, which disappears shortly afterwards. They are found in the following Action Stages:

Upon entering a Chao Garden with a Robin, it will leave the playable character and run around the garden. The Robin will sparkle if it has not given them to a Chao in the garden. Should the player give a Robin to a Chao, the Chao will embrace it, attaining its appearance and behavior and raising its stats according to the Robin's. The Robin will then lose its sparkle and disappear shortly after.

In Sonic Advance, the Robins appear as victims of Dr. Eggman, who used them as organic batteries for his Badniks. The Robins can be found in Secret Base Zone where they pop out of destroyed Badniks. Also, in the second Act of Neo Green Hill Zone, Secret Base Zone, Casino Paradise Zone, Ice Mountain Zone, and Angel Island Zone, the Robins pop out of destroyed capsules.

In Sonic Advance 2, the Robins appear as victims of Dr. Eggman, who used them as organic batteries for his Badniks. The Robins can be found in Hot Crater where they pop out of destroyed Badniks.

Sonic Pinball Party[]

In Sonic Pinball Party, the Robins play a role in the game's Story mode. In this game, the Robins were among the Animals that came to Casinopolis, only to get kidnapped by Dr. Eggman and turned into robotic slaves. To save the Robins and his other Animal friends, Sonic entered the Egg Cup Tournament. Once Sonic completes the game's Story mode, a shot of a Robin leaving Casinopolis together with Sonic's friends and the other Animals is shown.

In Sonic Rush, the Robins appear as victims of Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega, who used them as organic batteries for their Badniks. The Robins can be found in Altitude Limit where they pop out of destroyed Badniks.
