Your reading lists

The University Library works with your module tutors to ensure that you have access to the resources you need. To find online reading lists for your modules, start by searching for your module code. If you can't find your lists, contact your module tutor, and if you'd like to know more, try our article on Getting Started with your Online Reading Lists.

Library search

Library Search provides a single point of discovery for exploring the library collection, and searches can be refined to return results for only “full-text online”, or electronically available resources.

You should always sign in to MyAccount on Library Search . Signing in allows you to access additional features such as viewing your account, making requests and storing favourite searches or links to resources in your saved items – to save you time in the future.

We try to ensure that the books you need are available electronically. Where a book is only available in print you can request that print books are posted to you through our world-wide book postal service. You are responsible for return postal costs of any books that are sent to you. We recommend that you return books using a recorded service so that you have proof of postage and delivery. You can also widen your search outside the Library collection and you can use Library Search to request articles, documents and ebooks through our Inter Library Loan service. We will send you an electronic version of the resource you need if it is available.

Developing your learning skills – getting the most from your studies

The Library’s Skills Development team is available to offer support and advice for your academic work to help you develop your learning skills in academic reading and writing, searching, and referencing.

The Northumbria Skills Programme supports you to develop your learning skills on topics such as:

Book onto one of the taught group sessions where you can learn new skills or join an online drop-ins for your more in-depth questions.

See the full calendar of events

They have also developed online resources in Skills Plus where you can learn new skills, or refresh your knowledge at any time. The more you practice these skills, the more you’ll develop them for academic success.

To access videos and other content from our Northumbria Skills Programme workshops you can self-enrol in our Northumbria Skills Programme Blackboard organisation (organisation ID is LR007BC). You can also listen to the Northumbria Skills Podcast for bite-sized introductions to skills-related topics.

You can keep up-to-date with the Library via Library News (or subscribe for email alerts of the latest posts) and by following us @nulibrary on X (Twitter) and Instagram to receive the latest Library updates, collection news, and tips on how to use the Library effectively.

We are very proud of our University Library and the services it provides, especially our history of working with students and staff to make improvements.  If you have any comments, feedback or questions for us, please let us know through Your Library, Your Say or through your Student Representatives.
