Mikhail Borisovich "Misha" Petrov is a supporting character in the 2021 video game Call of Duty: Vanguard.

The younger brother of Polina Petrova, Misha joined the Soviets Partisans to help the war effort before supporting his sister's quest to get revenge against the Nazis.

He was voiced by Mark Ivanir, who also voiced Kamarov in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Krest in Metro Exodus, and Dimitri Belikov in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Background[]

Mikhail Borisovich "Misha" Petrov was born around the 1920s in Tsaritsyn, Russia to Borish Petrov and an unnamed mother, and is the younger brother to Polina Petrova. Not much is known about his childhood, but he spent time with his father and sister hunting in their spare time. When the Second World War began, Misha couldn't join the Red Army since he wasn't fit for the military, and instead joined the Soviets Partisans to help the war effort. Though unable to join, Polina was able to, but was assigned to the Medical Support Battalion.

Invasion of Stalingrad[]

In the summer of 1941, Misha arrived home to have breakfast with his family, but he unknowingly left behind the molotov cocktails when going to train the new partisans. Polina managed to track him down to give him the molotovs, and the two headed off to their duties moments before the Nazis invaded Stalingrad. Misha and several recruits were rounded up by the Nazis, but were saved by Polina before they could be executed. Meeting with his sister, he learned of their father's recent demise, but decided to focus on assisting Polina help the recruits and civilians escape. Following the invasion, Misha remained dedicated to helping the Red Army fight against the Nazis, and continued to assist Polina in her quest to avenge their homeland.

Hunting Steiner[]

A year later, the siblings learned of the name of the Nazi general who led the invasion, Leo Steiner, and Misha agreed to help Polina find and eliminate him. Gathering information that Steiner was located at the commercial district, Misha and Polina traveled there, encountering Nazi snipers and Jagermorders along the way. During the pursuit, Misha is wounded by a sniper, resulting in their position being blown and Polina trying to help him escape. While trying to escape, the two are bombarded by enemy forces, and Misha orders Polina to leave him behind. Preparing to hold off Steiner's men with a grenade, Misha and Polina say their farewells before she escapes. Polina succeeded in avenging her brother's death by killing Steiner, and was recruited into Task Force Vanguard to find files on Project Phoenix.
