Can individual artifact details (specific substat distribution) be viewed for Trial Characters in Archon Quests, Story Quests, Tribal Chronicles, and events that were released in Version 4.7/4.8 or later?

Trial Characters are available during specific Quests and Events, allowing players to try them out even if they have not acquired the character themselves.

Overview[]

Trial Characters are playable characters made available to all players during certain Quests, Domains, or Events, regardless of whether the player has personally acquired them. Their weapons, artifacts, Talent levels, and Constellations are fixed and cannot be altered by the player. Individual artifact details also cannot be viewed, except for:

Quests[]

A trial character can be automatically added to the player's party as an additional fifth character, which is currently the only way to exceed the four-character party limit. However, if the player's own version of the character is already in the party, they will be limited to a four-character party, as either the trial character will replace the player's character or the player's character will replace the trial character, depending on the quest.

During certain quests, such as Event Story Quest Tears Among the Leaves in Waterborne Poetry: Part II - Tears Among the Leaves, either a trial character or the player's own copy of the character is used, and which one is selected can change if the quest step is reset by leaving the area. Whether the trial character is selected or not is likely based on the player's character's level, constellations, or other factors.

Some quests, such as the Archon Quest End of the Line in Interlude Chapter: Act II - Perilous Trail do not add the Trial Character as the fifth member, but rather allow the player to use only the trial character(s). In some of these cases, the trial character(s) will also have a special feature that the playable version does not have, such as in The Purging of Evil in Xiao's Story Quest, Alatus Chapter: Act I - Butterfly's Dream and Farewell to the Past in Raiden Shogun's Story Quest, Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act II - Transient Dreams.

Events[]

During Test Run - Character Trial Events, players are given a fixed party with the featured character, usually paired with one or more "starting" characters (Amber, Xiangling, Barbara, Lisa, Kaeya, Noelle, Collei) or other 4★ characters.

Some combat events provide trial characters that can be used alongside the players' own characters. These trial characters are mutually exclusive with the players' versions of them, so having two versions of a character at once is not possible. In the Misty Dungeon event, if the player owns a trial character, they will adopt the Constellation levels the player has unlocked.

Domains[]

The Imaginarium Theater designates 6 characters as Opening Characters each season and offers trial versions of all of them. Either the trial characters or the player's versions of them must be added to the cast to start the challenge. Unlike with most trial characters, the Opening Cast's individual artifact details can be viewed.

Outside of the Imaginarium Theater, the only repeatable permanent domains with trial characters are the Elemental Trials in Temple of the Lion, Mondstadt. Only the trial characters can be used.

Attributes[]

Trial characters' stats, artifacts, and talent levels in Quests are scaled to the player's World Level. Normally, trial characters in Story Quests will have their first three constellation levels unlocked and no constellations in other content. Certain events may not allow the player to use their own characters but will carry over the player's constellation levels to the trial characters.

On occasion, trial characters' weapons will be retroactively adjusted to accommodate newer Event Wish weapons. Currently, there are no documented cases of trial characters' artifact sets being retroactively adjusted. However, the same character may use different artifacts and weapons as a trial character in different content, including "reruns" of events.

Viewing the artifact details of trial characters where available, such as for the Opening Cast in Imaginarium Theater, reveals that they are equipped with artifacts that always have a specific distribution of sub-stats at +20, regardless of set bonuses and main stats:

  • Icon Flower of Life Flower of Life: Elemental Mastery +63, Energy Recharge +11.7%, HP +10.5%, CRIT DMG +14.0%
  • Icon Plume of Death Plume of Death: ATK +15.8%, Elemental Mastery +42, CRIT Rate +7.0%, DEF +13.1%
  • Icon Sands of Eon Sands of Eon: ATK +53, HP +538, CRIT Rate +7.0%, CRIT DMG +14.0%
  • Icon Goblet of Eonothem Goblet of Eonothem: HP +807, Energy Recharge +11.7%, CRIT Rate +7.0%, CRIT DMG +14.0%
  • Icon Circlet of Logos Circlet of Logos: ATK +53, Energy Recharge +11.7%, HP +538, DEF +42
  • Total from sub-stats: HP +10.5% and +1,882, ATK +15.8% and +105, DEF +13.1% and +42, Elemental Mastery +105, CRIT Rate +21.0%, CRIT DMG +41.9%, Energy Recharge +35.0%
    • Due to rounding, these final totals may not appear to match the sum of the stats on each piece.

This distribution of sub-stats is also consistent with the stats that have been documented for trial characters in all Quests at World Level 8 and all Test Run events.
