Map View World View

Speak to Redmane Freyja near the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace to begin her questline. You can easily find her location in the Gravesite Plain by following the main path north of the Scorched Ruins.

Exhaust Freyja's dialogue and ask her about what she intends to look into to progress her and Sir Ansbach's questlines.

2. Speak to Freyja After the Divine Beast Dancing Lion Fight

Redmane Freyja Location

After defeating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion in Belurat, you can return to Freyja at the Three-Path Cross and ask about the damage to her helm. She will answer by giving you more information about her past as a Redmane Knight under Radahn.

3. Approach the Shadow Keep to Break Miquella's Charm

From the Highroad Cross Site of Grace continue following the road north until you reach the Shadow Keep. As you get closer to its gates, a message will appear on your screen saying:

"Somewhere a great rune has broken. And so too, a powerful charm."

This message references Miquella finally shedding his Great Rune (you'll find it in the possession of the Scadutree Avatar). When this triggers, NPC questlines will advance, so make sure to speak to everyone before exploring the Shadow Keep and the rest of Scadu Altus.

4. Find Freyja in the Storehouse, Seventh Floor

The next step is to find Freyja on the seventh floor and exhaust her dialogue to continue her questline. If you're also set to complete Ansbach's questline, it is important that this step is not skipped as it may lock you out of some of Ansbach's interactions.

1
From the Storehouse, Fourth Floor site of grace, exit west, then turn left.
2
Follow this path until you get past two bat enemies.
3
Immediately after passing by the bat enemies, turn left to go back inside the keep. Head to the other side of the room until you see stairs leading to the floor above.
4
Go up the three staircases and you will find a room with a site of grace right in front of you. Freyja will also be inside, just past the site of grace

5. Retrieve the Secret Rite Scroll

Find the Secret Rite Scroll near the Storehouse, Fourth Floor Site of Grace. Head towards the balcony and take a staircase that goes back down inside the Storehouse. The scroll will be located behind a shelf on your right.

Keep in mind that you'll encounter a Fire Knight that will continuously cast spells at you. It's best to run past the Fire Knight and time your dodges well to avoid his projectiles.

6. Talk to Ansbach About Freyja Before Giving the Scroll

Sir Ansbach in the Shadow Keep library

First, find Ansbach near the back of the Storehouse's first floor and tell him about Freya's situation. Give the Secret Rite Scroll to Ansbach if you already have it, then reload the area and speak to Ansbach again to receive the Letter for Freyja.

Do Not Give Ansbach the Secret Rite Scroll Before Meeting Freyja

If you are in the middle of doing Ansbach's NPC quest, do not hand the Secret Rite Scroll over to him before telling her about Freyja's situation, or else he will disappear from his position after the next area reload and you will be unable to progress Freyja's quest.

The order of events should be:

  1. Talk to Freyja on the Seventh Floor
  2. Tell Sir Ansbach about Freyja's Situation
  3. Hand over the Secret Rite Scroll to Ansbach
  4. Receive the Letter for Freyja
  5. Deliver the letter to Freyja

Sir Ansbach Questline and Location

7. Deliver the Letter to Freyja

Go back to the Storehouse's seventh floor to hand over Ansbach's letter to Freyja, and she will reward you with the Golden Lion Shield. After resting at a Site of Grace, Freyja will disappear from her spot.

Once she's gone, return to Ansbach in the Storehouse's first floor and convey Freyja's words to him to learn more about Freyja.

Don't Deliver the Letter to Freyja to Kill Her

If you don't give the Letter to Freyja, she will die by the Storehouse, Seventh Floor site of grace after you burn the Sealing Tree. You will be able to obtain Freyja's Helm, Freyja's Armor, Freyja's Gauntlets, Freyja's Greaves, and Freyja's Greatsword from her corpse.

Take note that if you choose to deliver the letter, you can still get these items after finishing Step 8. It's better to deliver the letter so you can get all the possible items from Frejya's questline, including the Golden Lion Shield.

8. Defeat Leda and Allies in Cleansing Chamber Anteroom

After burning the Sealing Tree and unlocking Enir-Ilim, you will be challenged by Leda and Miquella's followers at the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom. Interact with Leda's red summoning sign and defeat Leda and her allies to pave the way to the Final Boss of the DLC.

Redmane Freyja Information and Lore

Follower of Radahn and Miquella

Redmane Freyja is both a follower of Miquella and a Redmane Knight. From her dialogue and the item description of Freyja's Helm, it is revealed that she was once infected by the Scarlet Rot and was saved by Miquella through a kiss on the center of her face.

Formerly a Member of Radahn's Personal Guard

The item description of Freyja's Gauntlets reveals that General Radahn witnessed Freyja's valor as a gladiator in his youth. Radahn then invited Freyja to join his army among his most trusted warriors.

In Freyja's time under the service of General Radahn, she was given the Golden Lion Shield. The item description reveals that it is only awarded to especially valorous members of Radahn's personal guard on the occasion of its formation.
