You can farm a Leyndell Knight during early game for its armor set including the Golden Greatshield. Simply go to the Artist's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes, kill the knight and then reset from the site of grace until you get the shield.
You can also farm this from Leyndell Knights scattered throughout the Leyndell, Royal Capital.
