pickThis one absolutely lived up to the hype for me. Although the story is told as a letter detailing Blythe‘s side of the story, all the characters felt fleshed out. I couldn‘t stop turning pages. May #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
pickI devoured this book! These women behave so badly, the MC makes so many terrible decisions, and wow they drink all the time...but I couldn‘t look away. Glad my friends aren‘t like the women in this book! 😳

panI wish I‘d listened to the negative reviews, but I love books about therapy so much I decided to dig in anyway. This felt more like Christie Tate detailing her sex life than actual growth through therapy. I have been in therapy for 6 years and thank God my therapist isn‘t anything like Tate‘s beloved Dr. Rosen. And how are we supposed to believe Tate remembered such detailed sessions/conversations from over 15 years ago? 🙄

pickThe ending was a bit convoluted, but overall I really enjoyed this book. I loved the format - alternating perspectives with grand jury transcripts interspersed. I‘m definitely adding this author‘s backlist to my TBR.

pickAdunni is a fourteen year old Nigerian girl who wants an education and a “louding” voice. Her (often heartbreaking) story is told through broken English, but yet articulated so clearly. Adunni is a lovely character I won‘t soon forget. #botm

so-soI appreciated the themes in this book (motherhood, race, class, marriage) but never fully connected with the characters. The story moved slowly and didn‘t feel unique. Good, but not great. #botm

A little #audiopuzzling before I pick my son up from preschool. This book gets mixed reviews but I‘m really enjoying the narration and creepy vibe!
pickThe Hunting Party meets And Then There Were None. I guessed who the killer was early on, but still found the book enjoyable and entertaining.

pickThis book has such a clever premise - What if a serial killer isn‘t on trial, but he‘s on the jury? It‘s a page turner! It‘s book four in a series, but you don‘t need to read the others for this book to make sense. Far fetched at times, but a fun read for sure.

Started this one today and I was hooked immediately! My youngest doesn‘t nap anymore, but a daytime bath still gives me some solid reading time. 👍
pickThis slim memoir is powerful and heartbreaking. Trethewey writes of the grief she experienced following her mother‘s murder at the hands of her step-father. Trethewey also recounts her experience of growing up in the south during the 1960s/1970s with a black mother and white father. The author is a poet and that shines through in her writing. Trigger warnings for domestic violence.
Ordered a pizza for dinner, which gives me more couch time with this excellent memoir.
pickSet in the near future when almost all wild animals are extinct, Franny Stone sets out on a journey to follow the migration of the last Arctic terns. Franny is a wanderer and very troubled individual. It took me a while to settle into this story, which unfolds in a non-linear manner. I finally warmed to Franny as her life story slowly came into focus. This story is thought-provoking and beautifully told.
Lunch with my current read. Only 50 pages left and I‘m still uncertain how I feel about it.
pickMy January #doublespin was a comfort listen. I have fond memories of my dad reading this series to me as a young girl. There are certainly some similarities between the Covid pandemic and the many months of blizzards the Ingalls survived, but this story made me very thankful for our modern conveniences. A lovely, cozy read.
pickExcellent! Gildiner, a therapist, shares accounts of five patients she treated. This is not an easy read - the patients have all truly suffered in their lives; however, with Gildiner as their guide, they put in the hard work necessary to heal and grow. Such an inspirational read.
pickI liked this! Lots of unexpected twists and turns. The short chapters and alternating perspectives made it a quick page-turning read.
