What is it about guys named Billy? Anyway..
This is totally a "guilty pleasure" type read b ut who really cares? It is fun. a sparkling fresh little novel about..well..Billy..and getting married. And dating. I love this author and when she is at her best she is mighty great!
This is not my fav by her but it is good for sure and is the perfect beach read.
Not easy to find..a beach read that will not bore you senseless.

The Love Machine by Jacqueline Susann.
I know this is considered a classic but I have liked other books by this author way more.
SPOILERS:
Robyn has sex. He likes women. He likes threesomes. He likes orgies. He leads an empty life and cannot commit. He wont turn any woman down. (well..maybe one). He cannot love. So he has sex. More sex. Way more sex.
And more orgies. We follow this man as he has sex. With women. Whom he dumps. Brutally. One dies from cancer.
He then feels guilty. But still he has sex.
I don't know. I suppose if you are seeking to be turned OFF sex this book may do the job. Personally, I did not like Robyn, found him boring and tiresome not to mention not liking all his sex. I mean could he just stop having sex for a MINUTE?
The story is actually about how he learns to open up and need women. Which is good. Because for the majority of this book it seems he does not even LIKE women. Especially after he has sex with them.
But it is not THAT bad. Just a downer. And not my type of book. Not because of the sex but because of the main character who is having all the sex. Did not like him, did not feel sorry for him and just wanted to finish the book.
Which I did..try "Delores" for a great read by this author....more

Yes..it is trashy and tawdry but fun as anything. Some of the stories..they will have you laughing..I mean..really laughing. So fun. Who knows if any of it is true? I sure indeed did enjoy reading it though.
I cannot give this more than a two because I have no way of knowing if any of it is real. It is like the Enquirer on speed. Just a few juicy morsels:
Matt Dillon is a major player
Rod Stewart does one of the tackiest things I have ever seen.
Glen Frey from the Eagles (RIP Glen) is every woman's dream lover.
My fav..George Harrison (RIP) Plays the ukulele during sex! I mean..there is some seriously decadent shit in here but it is great as an escape..especially during Coronas Virus. (I read it years ago however).
This maybe the only time I have ever recommended a book I rated a 2. Seriously though..it sure does have the shock value! No literary masterpiece just very very fun and crazy.

So this book is about the life of a super model and it's trashy, gaudy, filled with glitter and hair and bad boys and bitchy girls an d big city lights, neon signs, sights, smells and sounds of New York City.
It is packed with smut, filled with good romances gone bad, covered in the world of fashion. This is a book that would make Jackie Collins proud.
It is really not even a three but what can I say? Who doesn't enjoy the occasional escapist book? And what is funny about this book, is Diane, our Super Model makes it to the top so quickly that it is almost comical. I recently re read this after reading this for the first time as a kid and was wide eyed all over again. I will admit it: it's a (sort of) fun read....more

This is a real cautionary tale. Lauren is about as all-American as you can get and one day she is spotted by a modeling agent and signed for a contract.
Suddenly, she is thrust into the world of modeling. Not hard to believe. How many models have been "discovered" that way? Quite a few to my surprise including one super model who was discovered in a night club. Go figure.
So Lauren starts to really make a name for herself. She is also drifting further from her old life and everyone is worried about her.
The story also involves her friendship wit h another model by the name of Tarin. Tarin and Lauren hate each other when they first meet but slowly they form a bond and become best friends.
There was a movie I saw by same name so it made me read the book. It does tell of the dangers of the modeling industry and that's not a bad thing.
This is YA people but an engrossing and good story. Why just a three?
Well..it is predictable as anything. And it does read like an after school special, not that there is anything wrong with that. But it is also short..would have liked more in depth follow up.
It is an enjoyable read however. Ultimately, 3.5 tars would be my rating for this one.

OK now....I read so many of her books in my youth. And even as an adult when I travel....and it's been a long time..I usually take a Collins book to help me unwind.
And what better book to talk about then Rock Star?
This is the ultimate guilty pleasure. And honestly not that guilty because it is GOOD. So good! 500 pages of good!
Probably one of the most fun books on rock-N-Roll out there!
The story revolves around three rock stars. Bobby Mendola. Chris Phoenix. Raffealla.
It follows them from their young lives to their fights for success in the industry.
And these three are all linked through the cruel and brutal Marcus Citroen, head of the record label that has signed these three. Marcus is a killer. Literally. He is ruthless in getting what he wants. One way or another all three of our rock stars pay a price for doing business with him.
Rock Star is sweeping and garrish, delicious and sleezy, fan....so much fun....that I cannot imagine anyone finding it "boring". It's just electrifying.
Lots of fun and loopy characters, lots of sex and drugs and rock-n-roll. But the characters flawed as they maybe, are all to human and one cannot help but root for them. Except Marcus of coarse.
If you've been thinking of venturing into the Jackie Collins territory..might I suggest this one to start with? Read it! It's a rock-N-Roll extravaganza!...more

Whenever I go on vacation, I grab me up some Jackie Collins. This was a reread and a really fun one. A bunch of Hollywood elite go on a cruise where sex, mayhem and murder are close at hand.
I do like the book. It is not her best but is far from her worst. I liked that it took place on a yacht. I liked reading about the journalists especially, they were fun.
I adored Sugar. Se wasn't a boat guest but I loved her character. Jeremy was disgusting.
But one thing kept me from a 4 rating.
I could not STAND the politician's wife. What was her name? Serena snow or something. She REALLY got on my nerves.
SPOLERS:
I felt for her at first, being married to a prick and a wife beater. But OK, she meets up with the love of her life and then is unresponsive and still worried about her crazy husband whom she does not love and who threatened to skin her alive.
Then said husband dies.
And she is DEVASTATED THINKING IT'S HER FAULT? What the heck?
Then she shines her lover on and starts ignoring him.
And both of them--I mean those letters they got--did it never occur to them to talk to each other? I really did not like that storyline--it was the only one I disliked. Miss Snow's behavior was bizarre-she thought she wished him dead so he died? The guy was shot. And he threatened to kill her. Flynn and basically everybody.
I am sorry he died but could not figure out what her despair was about since she hated him and was free. I still don't get that.
Otherwise--alot of fun. It was pure beach reading which is fantastic when one is away on the ocean.
I'd give it a 3.5. If one likes Collins, this is a good and fun book to read....more

I think it sort of spoiled the Genre for me.
I am sort of kidding..I was quite young when I read this, already an avid reader but still I knew that most people did not have the names "Kyne Fallon" and "Arial Drummond". At least nobody I knew.
Seriously? I'd read it again. I gave it a 2 for the fact it kept me reading AND it was the first really trashy book I read (though not the last) and I did grow up loving Historical fiction so who knows..maybe this book helped.
