I can understand research for the sake of research but naturally the government went to extremes in its uses. Lucas and Dr. Reese were my favorites. They both carried so much baggage that they should have dumped. This story is a must read for any Wilder fan!...more

The story pulled me right in and I was kind of bummed when it ended. Juniper's family was everything it was supposed to be in its awfulness. I totally recommend this book to anyone looking for a good escape from reality....more

Excellent story and the beginning of what hopefully is an excellent series. Ravnos is out for vengeance on the entire Moribund Company and Seht is out after Ravnos who as once his unwilling slave. The two strong men meet in the capitol city of the Republic of Caribbean Stars which is Ravnos's home base. Ravnos is no longer the weak, ill young man he was when he was held by Seht. A physical power play for domination, both physical and sexual, soon breaks out between Ravnos and Seht with the winner taking all. A tight, intriguing story that reads smoothly. I couldn't help but love the two men and their shared quest. Highly recommended....more

There was a small amount of m/m romance but not enough to call it a romance. The story was very well plotted but had enough twists and turns in the plot that the reader has to truly pay attention. Missing one little bit of information and possibly have the reader not understanding the wild ending. This story is a must read for sci-fi devotees. ...more

Dorian was always a rebel. He didn't like serving the every whim of the disgusting and rather worthless Revered Elders that he was assigned to. One demand too many sent Dorian over the edge and had two Revered Elders wearing gobs of fruit. This had Dorian sent to jail to be reprogrammed to properly respect his betters. This was where he met Lasa and Bryn and an entirely new society was formed. This book was Mr. Mack's first foray into writing science fiction and while the world building was excellent, I just could not get into the story. I did enjoy the fact that the beginning of the book was also part of the ending with most of the story a flashback. I was reminded of the old film Soylent Green with the growing people mainly for replacement parts where in Soylent Green they were bred for food. I found it interesting that the people of Earth let things get so out of hand that a small few Revered Elders ran the entire show and it paralleled the direction our society is moving in today. What killed the story for me personally was that the entire secret plan between Dorian, Lasa, Bryn and the others was so rushed. A tremendous amount of time was given to the harshness of the Elders which formed an imbalance with the formation and execution of the plan and the ultimate outcome of the story. The plot twist at the end with Mother was a great piece of thinking. I believe that with a longer story and more time, Mr. Mack will write some good science fiction. Until that time I suggest readers sit back and wait. Also take note that while there is not much sex in this book, it is m/m and m/f....more
Not a bad short story of two becomming three. I'm not sure why the sci-fi part was in there unless the author is going to expand on this story. Not a bad short story of two becomming three. I'm not sure why the sci-fi part was in there unless the author is going to expand on this story....more

This interesting story is set in the late 22nd century after the Earth has been attacked and Harvested by an alien race called the Xini. The Xini struck with little warning and raped the world of everything from people, animals, buildings and precious top soil. They left very little behind and sent mankind back into a pre-civilized type era with the exception of small, scattered colonies of humans. There are also human scavengers roaming around who are more like zombies than people who raid the colonies for what they can get. Dakota is a young man from a colony in what's left of Dallas. He packs his things and heads north on foot in search of his lover, Grayson, who left for St. Louis right after the attack. Dakota's travels takes him past the wreckage of a huge Xini ship, through attacks by scavengers where he meets up with another young guy named Chip who joins up with Dakota both on the road and in bed. In a world where people take whatever comfort or pleasure where and when they can, will Dakota be able to build a future with Grayson when he finds him? Mr. Morgan does an excellent job of showing the resiliency of the human race in this relatively short read. The world building or destroying in this case was extremely well done leaving mankind with just enough to start over again. I realize that mankind has ben stripped down to its basest needs but I had a hard time liking Dakota when he found Grayson and condemned him for taking up with Colonel Welch when Dakota boffed both Chip and the Colonel himself. The double standard was unfair to Grayson which Chip pointed out very clearly one evening. Aside from his moral ineptitude, I liked Dakota as a person and Chip was a well developed and likable character. I think this story would have been better if ,Mr. Morgan had made the story longer and had not rushed through some of the scenes that showed man's survival instincts and willingness to work together for the common good. It also would have helped me to know more about the scavengers and how they came to be so mindless. I did enjoy this glimpse into what may one day be our future and recommend it to anyone with an open mind for sci-fi. ...more

This book pretty much picked up where Over The Rainbow left off with Aidan, James and the gang in Dinas. James and Vivian are married as they had planned but Aidan discovered a hitch in the whole plan involving vows made to the spirits. This lead to Aidan calling on his mother and the old sorcerer Mal to help him figure out how to undo the binding by the spirits. In the meantime, the ships that were headed toward James's kingdom have arrived necessitating some crazy portal jumping by Aidan. Prince Aldrick is brought into the story but soon portals out of the story before his reason for being there is fully revealed. Aidan discovers a second Watchtower that in in need of repair and the race is on. This book is told from Aidan's POV so all of what happens is seen through his eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed the story but it some how felt that Ms May wrote it on the fly. There were editing mistakes primarily in spelling which Silver Publishing is becoming more and more known for. While this story was action oriented with several good subplots, the depth that I found in book one was not there. This is due primarily from having the entire story told from Aidan's POV in my opinion and hopefully will be corrected in book three which is due out now in mid-September. I would still recommend this book to fans of the series but just don't expect the quality that you found in Over The Rainbow although Ms May did pull off a HEA ending. ...more

I found the story of Remi and Hawk to be very sensual and the way Ms Cochet wove the refined Remi and the coarser Hawk together was solid gold or perhaps amethyst. The slang of the day could have ruined the story but instead made it shine and made me chuckle. Tom was a great character and the Gentleman Thief was a nasty right out of an old movie. This is a book well worth picking up and polishing off in one sitting. ...more
