Let me be honest here. I didn't really wanted to read this book. I just picked it up on a whim because one of my friends here suggested it and I was like - "fine this could be the book that could take away my final hopes from dystopia". I had 0 expectations from it when I started it because well... I'm bored of reading the same old ya dystopias with same concept but a bit different plot.
Now this book (and probably the entire series) has me in a chokehold. I'm supposed to be studying for my finals rn but I who cares about exams when you can fantasize about a world where you are paid for simply existing and where you can die for fun...more

Imagine being told that there exists a book that's basically The Hunger Games but with magic involved. Now as a fan of THG I expected a lot of similarities and yet I'd be angry if the plot was similar to THG. My brain is stupid so don't worry. But imagine my surprise when I started reading this. Instead of imagining the teenagers being sent to the arena, I imagined them being sent to participate in the Triwizard tournament.
1 star extra for this masterpiece as Stockholm Syndrome wasn't yet discovered when this book was written so I can't really blame Shakespeare here.1 star extra for this masterpiece as Stockholm Syndrome wasn't yet discovered when this book was written so I can't really blame Shakespeare here....more

I was expecting something more tbh like (view spoiler)[Frankie being Bobby with plastic surgery? (Yes my teenage brain had been infected by Indian soap operas so don't ask) I wanted to know why he did what he did to Bobby. Did he do it because Bobby was a hindrance when it came to his obsession with Laura? Why did Bobby get into the van? Did the pedo threaten to harm Laura if he didn't get into the van? So many questions left unanswered :( (hide spoiler)]
