The only way to describe this book is with a saying my friend, James says about certain art--It's a shitty painting with a really nice frame.
The idea for this book is really cool. It's all mysterious and enticing, however the actual work, is all over the place. There's insta-love and boring characters that literally have no lives except to hang out with Graham or talk about him. There are sisters that, honest to god, only compare each other and point out how different they are from one another. And on top of that, the writing is so unbelievably bad, half the time, I didn't know if I was reading the book as things were happening or as the characters reflected back on the shit that just happened. I just didn't know.
To make matters worse, this book tries so hard. It tries so hard to keep it interesting by changing up the POVs and adding random thingss here and there as well as adding a strange love triangle. However, despite the really nice frame (idea), a shitty painting will always be a shitty painting.
Bottom line, just skip this one. It's not worth it....more

3.5 Interesting Clouds!
Growing up as a kid, I would watch some classics with my sisters. It was our bonding time and I loved it. The fact that The Accidental Highwayman is compared to The Princess Bride grabbed my attention at once! I love that movie! And in a few ways, this novel is like that movie (sorry guys! Haven't read the book!). There's a ton of action, helping the story stay interesting and on point with the potential of never-ending danger. The different types of mythical creatures that Kit and his friends face are all creative and unique.
Despite how fun this novel is, The Accidental Highwayman has a lot of info-dumping that only drags out the story. I found myself skipping a bunch paragraphs because they went on and on and on about random crap. Kit, the protagonist is adorable, however, he sounded more like a ten-year old boy than a sixteen year old one.
Still, Kit and Morgana's relationship is beyond adorable. It's a roller coaster of emotion, them constantly getting angry with the other yet trying to move forward. I felt for them and their little crushes! In addition, the little notes in the margins are great and makes the story feel realistic because I don't know phrases and words used in the 19th century and getting summaries on them helped me understand. The illustrations are beautifully done. Tripp knows how to artfully draw readers in with his visuals. I kept skipping the pages, looking around for the pictures, the full ones that have so much detail and so much emotion, and then I would gawk at them all before returning to the page I was on.
The Accidental Highwayman isn't a bad book. It does have a few similarities to The Princess Bride with the action, the friends and foes and I loved it. Still, it does feel a bit odd with the abundance of information and the characters feeling too young and things working out just...too well in some cases. I recommend this story to anyone looking for something sweet and fun, with great illustrations, an old yet well described setting and love when the good guy wins! (Sort of). I'm so tempted to go watch every classic movie with villains in it now...hhmmm....more

It's not extremely serious however, it's not a light read. It's cute but then it's forced. I just can't find the right words to express how I feel for this book. Although I enjoyed the comics and the friendships, I didn't like the romance or the writing. And quite frankly, I had a hard time connecting with Andrew just because of the fact that he draws everything out to the extent that caring is asking far too much of me. Anyway, it's a 'meh' type of novel but then it's not because it's more. I'm not sure, review to come soon. ...more

The Jewel is like a fake diamond, really. At first glance, it's breathtaking and stunning however, the longer you stare at it, the more cracks and falseness it has.
The world setting is really half-assed, nothing is well explained. Violet, the protagonist is so dull and so naive that I couldn't care at all what happened to her. Moreover, the insta-love is so forced and awkward that I couldn't help but laugh. First of all, since the characters are forgettable at best, nothing happens except the usual save the girl crap which only makes the whole story awkward and stiff.
However, like I said, upon first glance, The Jewel is beautiful and intriguing. The writing is stiff yet it fits the story (since everything about the book is stiff as fuck).
Overall, this book is not worth the time. It's interesting at first but quickly goes south. Even the ending is typical and stupid. I don't recommend this book at all because there are much better novels to read....more

Eating Disorders are something that I know a lot about because they have impacted my life in such a harsh way. So I expected to be able to relate to Jack's story yet I couldn't at all. It all felt very flimsy and rushed, nothing is properly explained and the characters are so choppy with the ever-present insta-love. Nonetheless, I liked the ending solely because it's not necessarily a typical one.
Skin and Bones biggest problem has to be how unrealistic it is. The ICU unit in this is really relaxed and don't seem to care about anything until Jack's first weigh in. He exercises and no one's there to watch him like a hawk his first few days there. This is actually mandatory pretty much everywhere no matter what is wrong with a person, there should always be a nurse watching especially on the first few days to get them to stop their horrible habits.Like I mentioned before, the characters are a bit flimsy and barely have a back story except for their parents. Jack doesn't seem like an actual boy either. He's like a girl trying to be a boy because of how emotional and stuff he gets. It's very hard for a female writing to create a realistic male voice and Shahan didn't capture it at all. Another thing that I didn't like is the romance between Alice and Jack because it's too forced and odd especially at first. It never really progresses and just suddenly ends just as the foundation was sloppily being built.
The story is fairly short and the chapters are short so it's an easy read. The ending isn't typical and I wasn't expecting that which is why I'm bumping this book up to two stars.
Although Skin and Bones isn't an original story and it felt more like a pamphlet rather than a story that could happen to anyone, it's an easy enough read that some people, who might have to try pretty hard will enjoy. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys these kinds of novels but beware, it isn't something new....more

3 Clouds!
Wow. What a fucking ride this book is!
Upon starting, I thought I was getting just a bunch of insta-love and maybe some “Okay. I okay with myself yay!” kind of stuff. But what I got is something different. A lot different. Okay, so I did get the insta-love (mutual by the way. Ugh) and the romance did take over some times but all in all, it’s great. I loved how Verdi teaches the lesson between right and wrong. Like how some people believe that being gay is wrong and is a sin but know that abuse of any sort is certainly wrong for everyone.
The worst part of this novel has to be the romance. It’s just so infuriating. I didn’t want to read about how much Lexi wanted to kiss Carolyn when she’s supposed to be focusing on herself and what she really wants. From the very first day, there’s romance and it really takes away from the story. I also felt that the characters for the most part were choppy. This is evident because the only time anything is told about the characters is at the very beginning and that’s it. There’s not much of a back story except then. The activities that the characters do are all right, but are quite confusing because they’re either too simple or too silly.
The Summer I Wasn’t Me is still a fairly beautiful story about acceptance. Lexi is a strong character, especially by the end of the story and I loved the way she accepted herself and her friends. Beautiful! The best thing about the camp is the cult-like feel it has, the exorcism that goes on is really well described and intense. I was shocked and enraged by it. It’s pretty awesome in a very sadistic way.
I was really skeptical when I first read this simply because many authors have tried this (not in YA) and have failed miserably. However, Verdi does a good job and had me at the edge of my seat more than once. Lexi’s story is pretty typical and so is the romance, but the execution is lovely and I felt connected to her. I recommend this to anyone who’s curious to see what it might look like inside of a “de-gaying” Christian camp....more

First of all, if you have read Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and disliked it because of how unrealistic it is, then don't read this book because the problems that I had with that novel are the same that I have with this one.
Hanley is such an idiot and being drunk isn't an excuse for her idiocy because she tells him to leave when she is drunk. But even excusing this, these are the things that made me stop reading this. Like we don't live in a world where you can just randomly drink water that a stranger gives you because you know that they won't drug you. The fact that the author failed to realize that and decided to make this story like that is ridiculous.
1. The second she realizes that there's a stranger in her garage, instead of running and screaming for help, she stands there and makes small talk with him because he says, "I'm innocent".
2. While looking at his mouth when he smiles at her (ugh) she imagines kissing him. Mind you, they just met like a minute ago.
3. He commands her to drink some water that he just so happens to have and you know what? She does. She doesn't know this guy, she dropped her keys on the ground and her ankle is killing her so she obeys this stanger guy and drinks some 'water'!

2.5 Stars (lol, I'm not feeling generous)
This book, right here, is one the reasons why I stay far, far away from historical fiction books as well as books about princesses. They are always predictable, there is no (or barely anything) real talk about wars, enemies, etc. It's all just romance and scandals and who's fucking who or who wants to fuck who but not allowed to. I honestly felt like I was reading about the girls in my high school rather than an empire on the verge of collapsing. The characters are so one-sided and superficial that I had to skip a few chapters for one character because her life consists honestly, of only money and romance. That's it. Nothing else. In fact, this is all the main characters care about, romance. Not about anything important.
The novel starts off with a lot of description. Aelwyn returns to the palace after four years. The bad thing about this novel is that it's all fluff. Like I mentioned before, all the characters are one-sided, especially Ronan (the idiot who care only about money and romance). I could not, for the life of me, give two shits about the ridiculous shit that she goes through. More than once, I had to skip her chapter because I knew that I would give no fucks about what she has to say.
Despite the fact that just about everything important annoyed me, once I shut off my brain, I actually started to enjoy The Ring and the Crown a bit. I really enjoyed the ending, it's so shocking and exciting. The writing is all right, I didn't necessarily despise it, it's well down with the palace and I liked a little French that's put in it here and there. I also liked the magical aspect of the story although I would have loved it even more if there was more of it, more back story to it.
The Ring and the Crown is can be fun if not thought about at all. I recommend this one only if you've read and enjoyed historical fiction with royalty and enjoyed all the scandals and romances and whatnot. There's not very much meaning to this story and is solely for entertainment and I was really upset reading this and I don't know if I'll read any of De La Cruz's other series. Though I might finish this series in the hopes that these characters grow the fuck up and decide that life isn't all about stupidity....more

The summary for this sounds a lot creepier than the book actually is. You would think that when some crazy church cult is involved in kidnapping kids, shit is about to get good, right? Well not in Indigo Awakening since it's just a huge pile of boredom and unoriginality. After the initial excitement that I had upon reading the summary, I quickly started to skim the pages because everything is boring. Luke would have been an interesting character if it weren't for the fact that nothing other than his odd, vivid look on the world
Jordan Dane tries too hard. She tries and tries to fit in with teenagers today by making her character, Rayne say, 'LMAO' out loud (Who says that out loud?) and 'jacked up' among other annoying things with the humour being every bit cheesy and forced. What makes the novel worse is the relationship between Gabriel and Rayne because it is every bit complete insta-love. Gabe has been running for so very long but when his eyes stare into Rayne's, *sighs dramatically* he suddenly wants her and wants to risk everything for her. Because this is what happens in zoos when mysterious boys who call freaky animals out save your life.
I think the only reason I finished this is because I accidentally requested the second novel and I feel the need to give the second one a go before I call it quits.
Indigo Awakening actually could have been pretty decent if there wasn't so much insta-love and unoriginality in it. I mean, crazy cult people are in it! That should be cool and exciting! Children with freaky powers who see the world in vivid colours in emotions! Crap, that sounds so cool. Unfortunately, I fell asleep multiple times so I don't recommend this to anyone....more

Ever since that tragic incident that happened in Connecticut, I've been intrigued, no, obsessed with shootings and massacres of any sorts. So, of course when I found out that Before My Eyes has a shooting I knew that I HAD TO GET MY HANDS ON IT. So far, after reading quite a few novels about shootings I've been left with huge disappointment after huge disappointment
Caroline Bock is an author that tries too hard. It was sad reading about something that could have been so great fail so miserably. The writing for almost all of the story is very stiff and annoying. I couldn't connect with any of the characters partially because of this as well as the fact that they all suck ass. Another thing that I had a problem with is the summary of the book since it says that Barkley hears a voice in his head. Where the hell is this voice?! It makes a millisecond appearance only twice where it says one word. Everything about the voice inside of his head is flimsy and pathetic.
Before My Eyes starts off great. It's extremely creepy and odd, the writing is really proper and by that I mean there aren't any contractions. I was instantly hooked after the first chapter which is told from Barkley's perspective. This first chapter is intriguing and it's the best part of the novel. I wish I were kidding but I'm not. However, the best character is the dog, King, who's blind. Near the end of the story, King becomes braver than anyone and blindly risks his life to save others. Reading about him alone got this book one cloud out of me because he's amazing. Overall, don't read this. If you're like me and are looking for a well executed story about teenagers and a shooting you'll have to look elsewhere. Before My Eyes is a sloppily done novel that has left me close to no hope that I'll ever find a great teen story about a shooting....more

What a lovely idea! I've had my fair share of wrong numbers and I'm actually pretty good friends with one of them so I was super excited to read this one. And I'm sure, in some unrealistic world, where unicorns exist and strangers don't snatch people off the streets, this novel would have been such a delight to read. However, we don't. And these characters a very flimsy and it's evident from only reading like, a chapter that she worked very hard on creating a beautiful romance and not enough making the characters believable. James doesn't bother calling people back about their furniture yet goes out of his way to help this one girl out after talking to her once? Hell no.
Even after just how unrealistic this romance started, I kept reading on to the next chapter where I drew the line. This is a contemporary novel and I expect it to be as realistic as possible minus some things but nothing about this book is at all realistic. It's soo contrived and sloppily done and I just didn't have the heart to go on anymore. ...more

Because honestly, why did I even bother with this one? The beginning once again starts off interesting but that quickly goes down the toilet because of Rayne and her idiocy. She annoys the crap out of me. And so does Gabe with his "oh I love you. I don't understand why people feel the need to be complete assholes to strangers. I mean, you don't have to trust them but if they go out of their way to see if you're okay....Why? Just why? From the moment Rissa meets Lo, I knew that I was not going to like her and I didn't. At all. She's rude to the people who take care of her, she's bossy just because she can be and she a bitch to Lo! Again,Why?
To make matters worse, I didn't care much for Lo for the most part either. Of course I felt bad for the way he's treated in the novel from what I read but he's honestly such a boring character. The constant smirk on his face, the 'snarky' comments that he makes and the way that he just 'gets' Rissa is unbearable and just unbelievable.
There's also not much of a plot that's interesting, only a bunch of teenage drama and some maybe could-have-been-cool scenes when she's in the water but since the author doesn't push the limits with it, it doesn't stand out.
Waterfell is just a huge disappointment and I would have loved to read more than just typical teenage drama and a protagonist that only speak bitch and a male lead who reminds me of a human cut-out.

I don't know what to say. I'm speechless. More so because I had to take multiple naps while reading this (or trying to) before I finished it. The Secret Diamond Sisters could have been an amazing novel that's light-hearted and fun but instead what I got was mindless crap that either didn't make sense or was too boring for me to care about.
The characters are so very flat and annoying. The say the same things over again and they all seem to share one stupid brain. I couldn't stand any of them and what made everything worse are the romances which, for the life of me I could not give two fucks about. They're so boring, and the love interests are so one-sided and are only there to compliment the girls and they're just worse than a brick wall. I also really disliked the writing because it felt too simple to me and I couldn't connect to it or anything.
I'm giving this book .5 because I really liked the idea of it. I hated everything else which is sad because this could have been a fun novel. The Secret Diamond Sisters is a huge disappointment for me. I pretty much disliked everything about it yet this novel could have been really good. I don't recommend this one to anyone, it's boring, annoying, and predictable. ...more

Fates had so much potential. I mean, there's this chick who makes sure people died. How cool! And sad. This could have been creepy and awesome but unfortunately, the author made this too much about the romance and not enough about the deaths. The protagonist (I don't even remember her name. It's something ridiculous) is an annoying idiot. All she ever does is complain and causes problems and then this guy, Luc (I think) still chases after her. AND THAT'S IT. THAT'S FUCKING IT. It's annoying to have to read about a story that had so much potential go to shit because the amount of romance, insta-love, and just plain pathetic characters that it makes me want to scream.
