Well, that was a wild ride. I mean, I’m here for the occasional dark romance and I was excited to get to this as I’d heard lots of good things about it, but that was darker than I anticipated. I mean, Trisha Wolfe, are you okay girl? LOL but in all seriousness, this was really well written and captivating and messed up in the best way. There were a few hard to read parts and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be a romance, but it was kind of sort of one? Either way, I am interested to see what happens next with London and Grayson.
If you’re interested to read a book about a serial killer and a criminal psychologist who has her own secrets, I highly recommend this one. As I said before, I do consider it a bit more of a psychological thriller than a romance, but it still had some romantic elements. I feel like I need a little break between book one and two, but I’ll for sure get to the second one soon enough. I’m gonna read a few light and happy books in-between though.

This was a cute sports/friends to lovers romance. I love a good slowborn but it felt like it took forever for these two to get it together and finally admit their feelings for one another. I really loved the start and the end, but there was a lot in the middle that felt slow to me personally. I still would read more by this author, and would definitely love to read about some of Nathan’s football friends!

This was a cute and light women's fiction book. It had a romance in it, but as it wasn't the focus I wouldn't consider this a romance.
Riley is back in her small home town, Maple Falls, helping her grandma who's injured. Riley has spent the last decade of her life in NYC trying to make it as an artist and has no plan to come back home and live her life, but the small town charm starts to grown on her. She makes friends and of course there's a guy.
I loved the grandma and the hero of the story, but the heroine was a little aggravating.

I feel like I say this about so many middle grade books, but this is such an important book for young people to read. It made me sad, it made me mad, and yet it was still enjoyable. My hope is that any young person who picks this book up and reads it will think twice about the things they say and how they treat people who are different than them x

I struggle so much to rate a memoir low because this is someones story and I respect that. This story was a lot and it had moments that were powerful and I truly felt for the author. Unfortunately, the writing style did not work for me at all. Specifically listening to it in audio format, it felt really disjointed. The author jumped from one thing to another constantly and I had trouble keeping things in order. I think maybe I would have liked it more if I had read it, but the audio made it really hard for me to get into it.

The Bribe is the first book in Willa Nash’s (Devney Perry’s pen name) Calamity Montana series. It’s about country singer Lucy Ross who is getting away from her real life for a very specific reason. No one in small town Montana knows who she is. To them, she’s Jade, Calamity’s newest resident. But Duke, the town sheriff, knows exactly who she is.
I love when the angst/drama in the books I read have nothing to do with the main couple. I mean, I know there needs to be conflict and I love a good angsty book, but sometimes it’s nice when that angst isn’t with the romance itself. Once Lucy and Duke fell for each other, I never questioned if it would work out, I just knew it would. And I loved that.
This book made me smile, was super swoony, and had a bit of a mystery aspect to it. I enjoyed this one so much and the way the second book got set up at the end… eek! I’m definitely going to be reading more in this Calamity Montana series!

“Everybody is smart in different ways. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its life believing it is stupid.”
Fish in a Tree is such an important book to read. For anyone who knows someone who struggles with dyslexia, or if you just want to learn more about it, this is the book for you.
Ally is in the sixth grade and she’s incredibly smart but struggles with her reading and writing. She excels at math and art, but it takes hours for her to just read a page, or write a paragraph. She has a difficult time in school because of this, until she gets a new teacher.
Mr. Daniels is one of those special teachers that truly cares about his students and wants each and every one of them to be successful. I’m sure most teachers feel this way, but he goes above and beyond to communicate with students that don’t communicate the traditional way, and to help those to don’t learn the ‘normal’ way to learn in a way that makes sense to them.
I loved watching Ally’s confidence grow and she realized she wasn’t stupid like she’s felt most of her life, she just learns differently than her cohorts. This is an own voices book for dyslexia and I think the author did a fantastic job.

I specifically liked that both Krista and Jakob were ex-military and I love a good baddie heroine! Also, grandma's in books are my favorite and Krista's Gran was the best.
There was a bit of a twist I didn't see coming which was also good. But that ending was so stinking rushed, I felt wanted so much more out of the last 20%. Overall, I would try this author again because I liked this one more than I didn't! ...more

This was such a uniquely written middle grade book. It’s from a perspective I’ve never read about and was inspiring and emotional.
Melody has CP and is in a wheelchair. She’s ten years old, intelligent and also non-verbal, as well as physically disabled. A lot of people look past Melody or think she’s mentally handicapped, which she is not. Until she gets the Medi-Talker… it changes everything for her.
Now, Melody is able to have the machine speak for her and able to express herself in a way she never has before. It’s a whole new world for her. I loved that this book was from Melody’s POV and we got to see what life was really like for her. She was a great narrator who made you think, feel, and even added some humor in at times.
This is one of those books that should truly be required reading for middle-grade students!

Seeing Voices is about seventeen year old Skylar who has spent the last year as deaf after losing her hearing in an accident. This story is about two families, the Armstrongs and the Montgomerys who have feuded for quite some time. The king decides that they have to put this feud in the past and demands a wedding between the two families. That is how Eveline Armstrong and Graeme Montgomery end up wed.
Eveline was in an accident years ago that left her different. She’s kept it to herself, but her issue is that she’s deaf, but she can read lips. She can communicate, it’s just more difficult for her. With time, she ends up trusting Graeme and lets him in on her secret.
I adored Graeme and Eveline together. I didn’t love the way a lot of Graeme’s people treated Eveline, but I love how he stood up for her. There was some drama at the end that was resolved a bit quickly, but I loved the way things wrapped up. I’m looking forward to reading more from the Montgomery clan!

Oh my gosh… this book was so fun but also had a bit of emotion. I haven’t read anything by this author before but now I want to binge all the other Fulton U books!
Persephone isn’t your average eighteen year old girl. She’s super intelligent, but hasn’t lived a normal teenage life. She’s almost done with her college experience and she wants to live a little, so she has a list of ‘firsts’ she wants to do.
“This was going to be the year of perfect firsts.”
Reece is the star of Fulton U’s football team and is headed to the draft after this year. He’s focusing on football and nothing else this year. Until he meets Seph. He knows helping her with this list could be trouble, but he can’t stand the thought of someone else doing it so he does.
I could see the writing on the wall with these two and yeah, it was a bit predictable but I didn’t even care. These two were the most adorable! I loved their story. It made me laugh so hard and gave me so many feels! I loved both of these characters and I especially loved seeing Seph stand up for herself.
This was a great new adult/sports romance and I can’t wait to read the others from this series! Reece’s friends seem like a hoot and I’m sure their books will be great as well.

“I believe that we're as happy in life as we make up our minds to be.”
I have such great memories of staying up late with my sister in our bunkbeds watching I Love Lucy on Nick at Nite, so when Audible had Lucille Ball’s autobiography as one of their sales, I picked it up.
I enjoyed reading her story so much! This book was published after Lucy passed, and was a manuscript her children found when going through her things. She lived such an interesting life and one of my favorite things about listening to this one was that her daughter (Lucie Arnaz) narrated the book.

Kate takes a bit of time off work and goes with her grandma to her hometown. She has a family home there that needs renovated and she and her grandmother are going to work on it together, with the help of Matt Jerreau, a local contractor.
Matt is a widow who used to play professional hockey. When his wife passed, he quit hockey and moved back to his hometown. He’s sort of a recluse but Kate and her grandma, Beverly help to bring Matt out of his shell.
I enjoyed watching Kate and Matt fall in love and I especially loved all the seniors that lived in the small town (her grandma’s friends). Two of them had their own romances going which was adorable. Matt and Kate’s story was great, but toward the end there was so much waiting for them to be together… I understood it, but I wish it would have happened a bit earlier.
Overall, this is a sweet, emotional, and well written romance.

Brides & Brothers was such a fun and sweet read! I’ve always loved the musical ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ and I was excited to see a modern day retelling.
Aiden and Camille meet and fall for each other quickly. They get married right away and Camille moves in to Aiden’s home. She’s nervous and excited, but what she doesn’t expect is that Aiden’s six younger brothers also live with him. Ever since his parents died, Aiden has taken care of them, and even though they’re all in their twenties now, they are all single and all live at home.
Camille comes up with a great plan… she’ll set up all the brothers with some of her friends and maybe then they’ll fly the coop. This goes really bad, but also really well. It depends on what part of the book you’re on.
The only thing that really bugged me about this one is that Aiden was around the first 30% and the last 20% but he was pretty much gone half the book. It’s hard to focus on the romance when he was on a work trip for weeks and not in the book at all. Aside from that, I really enjoyed this one and will definitely check out more from this author! ...more
