Chantal Fernando is one of my favorite MC authors and this book is just another reason for that. Renegade and Izzy were both amazing characters and I loved getting to see them together. Izzy was strong and could hold her own, especially around a bunch of bikers, but she was also really sweet and kind, and just easy to like. Which blended perfectly with Renegade's sweet side that we got to see so much in this book. You might think he was this big, tough, biker man and that his gentler side was hidden, but that wasn't the case at all. He was always so open with Izzy and it was evident in every page that he was just as sweet as her.

I think this story was a little safe compared to some of the other MC books this author has done but it was still very intriguing. There were hints of what's to come with another MC rival that have me dying to read more to see how that blows up, and it certainly left me wondering what could happen next. The angst level was low, though there was some drama involved, and I actually really enjoyed that for this couple. I think it was a good thing that there wasn't anything with the MC business that took over their relationship and pushed them to the background.

Overall, I will definitely recommend this story to any fellow MC lover out there. I think some could read it as a standalone with no problem, but personally I think it will be more enjoyed if the previous book is read first.

Isabella has been living next door to the Knights of Fury MC for a while now and hasn't had any issues with them. When her sister goes into labor and she rushes to reach her in Vegas but her car breaks down, she counts herself lucky to have the Knights as neighbors. They offer her a ride and although she misses the birth of her niece, she's there for everything else and she's grateful. She's even more thankful that the Knights seem to be sticking around in Vegas and are giving her a ride back. After a wild night out with the boys, furthering her intense and immediate connection with Renny, they took things up a notch, which led to them discovering just how made for each other they were.

Hot boy next door? ✔
Chemistry? ✔
Drama? ✔
A bit of suspense? ✔

While I wasn't enamored with this story because it didn't meet the marks it kept setting up, I can see many people loving the heck out of it. It was just an 'okay' read for me. Nothing too explosive and it actually was pretty boring. But that's just me. I like madness and mayhem and tons of explicit sexy times and for the suspense to actually have me gripping my kindle super hard in anticipation. That didn't happen here, but I still enjoyed it. If I were to categorize this for anyone, I'd say this was a clean motorcycle club romance, which will appeal to plenty of readers.

Isabella and Renny were of different worlds, yet they seemed to click pretty naturally. Although they get off to a rough start, I liked that they didn’t let anything stand in the way of what was blossoming.

The plot sets up future books nicely without removing the focus off the main characters. There wasn’t too much of the dark side of MC books like the trope usually sees. It’s definitely lighter and both Isabella and Renny were utterly sweet. I’m definitely interested in what’s next.

Renegade was the second book in Chantal Fernando’s Knights of Fury MC series.

Isabelle aka Izzy lived next door to the MC. She hadn’t officially met them yet but had seen them and had helped Skye in book one, Saint. In Renegade, we learned that she worked from home, was loyal to her sister and was quick witted.

Renegade was a patched member. He had noticed Izzy previously and thought she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen. When they did officially meet there was an instant connection.

The storyline wasn’t exactly as expected. It started in one direction and then took a few twists. I enjoyed the suspenseful nature. It had various storylines that eventually meshed into one. Additionally, the underlying MC conflict was continued from book one and will carry on into book three.

Fernando also set the stage for the next book, Temper. All in all, it was an easy and entertaining read.

Good story overall - Renny is a such a sweetheart. Ending wayyyy too fast tho!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t normally read a lot of MC tropes. They all seem to have the same underlying theme running through them.
However, I love Chantal Fernando and the stories that she brings so I thought I would go ahead and check out this upcoming release.
The fact that this book took off from the get go was a part I really appreciated. Sometimes an author takes a long time to get into it all. But this one started with a lot of interest from the beginning and it just continued to grow throughout the entire book.
There was a lot of lightheartedness and fun involved in the story. It made it so much different than some of the other MC tropes I have read.
I really enjoyed Renny. He’s a great character that knew what he had before we even did. He was kind and considerate, not to mention hot as hell, and even though he had a big boo-boo that came out later in the story, how could one say no?
Izzy in turn was a great balance. Non-judgmental, even if she was a bit too trusting. However, a great character to even him out.
Renegade is an enjoyable story. I think the author could have really given us more of the goods we like to read. The hot sexy times felt reserved and implied in many ways. I do love their connection and the build up for more to come. But the ending was wayyyy rushed. That I did not like at all.
Good second book but it lacked the MC drama of the first one. Renny was a tame MC member maybe a little too sweet. Still unknowns going on for the next book..
This was book 2 in the "Knights of Fury" series. Isabella lives next door to the knights clubhouse she is a good girl. When her car breaks down while trying to get to her sister who is about to have a baby so she accepts a ride with Renegade to Vegas. Renny has been looking for away to talk to her he likes what he sees. Renegade is a hot sexy alpha male a biker. Before they leave Vegas they decide to go out and have some fun they end up getting drunk and married. This was a good read these two had a lot of hot chemistry. When Izzy finds out that it was no accident that her car stops working she is hurt and disappointed in Renny. Turns out the knights need her help her father who she doesn't have anything to do with is the mayor. I really liked her sister Airel she tells it like it is. When her sister moves in with her. When her sister is kidnapped she calls the knights for help. This was a good read that I also listened to the narrator was very good. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in this series.
Three stars is pushing it. This was about the cleanest, dramaless, boringest MC book I have read.
So many plot holes and no MC drama. Some will love this. Renny is about the wimpiest MC member I have ever read. He cooks, cleans, isn’t a bad boy, and isn’t overly alpha. Must be a dreamboat biker. What does Izzy’s sister do? How can she just hang out all the time? Why does Izzy’s dad just change in the middle of the book? What happened to Georgia? She is brought up as the boogeyman and then the topic is dropped and we skip 6 months.
MC read nope. Alpha male heck no. Drama NOT. Hot interactions between the main characters no. Nothing that the book was pumped up to be. Vert disappointed.
This was my first time reading an MC romance. They’ve stood out to me for a while as something that I wanted to read and would probably enjoy, but I never picked one up until now. Unfortunately what I was expecting and what I got were two pretty different things.
My main issue was the characters. Isabella and Renny didn’t pique my interest at all. I was more invested in the side characters and their stories as well as Skylar and her story (which would have been a part of the first novel in the series). I was more looking forward to what was going on with Ariel and her disgusting baby daddy as well as Trade. Like give me all the details of Ariel’s life because I would read that book in a heartbeat. I mean their dad was also a massive ass, but I bet his story would have been a page-turner too.
With the plot, I found that things happened and resolved themselves in about 5 pages every single time. That made it much more difficult to care about Isabella and Renny because I knew everything would be fine in a couple minutes. Reading an MC romance, I was expecting things to be crazy and intense and to have my heart racing with the promise of action. Unfortunately with quick resolutions, I never seemed to get that.
Overall, I would say this was a clean MC romance. The guys were way nicer than I was expecting (although very possessive) and there wasn’t a large amount of edge-of-your-seat action. So if you’ve always wanted to read an MC romance, but were looking for something that’s low-intensity to dip your toes in, then read this one.
This book being second in the series had the benefit of not having to set up as much for the MC and its world. However it should have been longer. So much is happening, and its all drama and damn goodness. So youd think that it would have the page time dedicated to all the drama and tension but it never happens. So much does go down but its really glossed over and rushed through which is a shame because it had the potential to be amazing if it had been given the proper time to flesh out.
Renny is good at compromise, “you can do that in other ways,” he suggests, a thoughtful expression on his face. “Massages, hugs, cooking... ***.” The man has no boundaries, "Renny steps in front of me, staring Crow down. “She’s mine. Don’t even breathe in her direction, because I will end you.” I liked this book, I loved Renny.
Renegade is book two in Chantal Fernando's Knights of Fury series; however, it can be read as a standalone as the major events of book one are briefly discussed between the characters.
Isabella is a graphic designer who works from home. She is the closest neighbor in proximity to the members of the Knights of Fury motorcycle club but she has no desire to get to know the men in leather. She stays away from the club, minds her business, having no one but her sister since the passing away of her mother and the estrangement of her father. When Isabella's car barely makes it out of the driveway on her way to Las Vegas from California for the birth of her niece, who comes to her rescue? None other than Renegade–Renny, a Knights of Fury member.
Isabella hands down held this story together for me. She was sassy and so dang on fiesty, bringing a witty dialogue to almost every single page. But there were times when her indecisiveness became repetitive. Now, Renny is everything I am usually fond of in a hero. I mean seriously, he's super duper sweet with an air of mystery to him. But, he didn't give me that club member vibe. The novel itself read more as a clean contemporary romance novel instead of a MC romance. There was drama but no club drama. No grit, no dirty. This, in turn, and factoring in the lack of dual POV caused me to not fully enjoy this novel. But, I did enjoy this novel. I found it to be easy-to-read and entertaining and I recommend it to those who prefer a lighter toned MC read.
This was not what I was expecting from a Motorcycle romance. I go in thinking dark and gritty but this was surprisingly more like a contemporary romance where the hero just happened to belong in an MC. So for those of you who maybe want to dabble into MC romance but don’t like the darkness this seems like a great book to start at.
Our heroine lives next door to a Motorcycle Club and when her car stops working a member stops by to check it out for her. Our hero is a member of the MC who has had a crush on their neighbour ever since he first saw her so this was their perfect meet cute. He offers her a lift to Vegas (where her sister is having a baby) and one thing leads to another and yup they wake up married.....
The story is told only through the heroine’s POV which almost let me down a little (I personally prefer dual POVs) because it means I didn’t get any of the grittier aspects I normally get from a hero in an MC. The other thing is the sex scenes were over and done in two sentences and all I wanted was MORE, because again this just wasn’t what I was expecting for an MC book. Overall it was ok if a bit boring.
Once again, Chantal Fernando gives us a beautiful story wrapped up in the MC world. This time we get Isabella and Renny and they give us such a stunning and unique run that will keep you on your toes and swoon! And who says what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?!?! I think what I love about this story is we get the ups and downs of the two trying to figure out where they are going with this plus the drama from the MC world. You get some intrigue but also some really romantic moments. The connection that these two have is sizzling. The flow of the story amazing. The concept with unique twists in it! I read it in one sitting because I could not put it down! If you are a Fernando fan, this book will suck you in!
Renegade was a character that surprised me. He was quite aloof when he made appearances in SAINT so getting to know him was an unexpected treat. He didn’t turn out to be like the “typical biker”. Sure he was a total sexy badass, but on a deeper level he was a romantic.
Isabelle was everything you’d expect in a heroine. She was strong and independent and easily blended in with the MC. Having lived next door to the clubhouse she’s purposely kept her distance but when she needs a favor, the brothers step in to help her which takes her life in a whole different direction. Her and Renny’s story is nothing like your typical MC romance; which a LOVED.
Their story has a few twists, some suspense and a bit of mystery but for the most part it is primarily character driven.
I’m totally loving this series!
There are only two authors who write the MC genre that I am still keen to read - and Chantal Fernando is one of them.
Izzy and Renny's story is all the cliches - the "boy" next door, the drunken Vegas wedding yada yada yada - however from the blurb we knew it was going to be a little bit that way.
And I completely adored it.
You probably should read the first book, Saint, before diving into Renegade. There is just too much going on in the background and you will miss things if you haven't read the first one.
Now, this girl here really wouldn't mind waking up married to Renny. He is more teddy bear than biker most of the the time -though there are plenty of times when he P'd off not just Izzy but me too.
The one thing I was missing in this story was that extra oomph and biker bad that Saint and other Chantal Fernando stories have had in the past.
I read this book in one evening, and I look forward to more from Ms Fernando in the future.
"I mean, I wouldn't want him to be unable to sleep tonight, so I guess I could take one for the team and tire him out tonight. I know, it's a hard job, but somebody has to do it."
I have been filled with anticipation while waiting for Renegade. After reading the first book in the series, I knew Izzy lived next door to the clubhouse, and I hoped that she would end up with one of the Knights. But, damn, what a way to do it, right? We all know that what happens in Vegas never stays in Vegas.
It was quite amusing as Izzy got to know Renny. Her sense of humor is incredible and she kept me giggling throughout. As she pointed out, Renegade is his nickname, and Renny is his nickname's nickname. He showed up looking all sexy on his Harley right when her car was broke down on the side of the road. It might have taken them a little longer to get to know each other if she wasn't desperate to get to Vegas for the delivery of her big sister's baby. All her reservations went out the window due to the urgency of the situation. She needed to get to Vegas, now.
Ladies, I guarantee you are gonna be in hog heaven reading this book. It's funny, sexy, sweet and suspenseful. Oh, and let's not forget that it's HOT! 🔥 It's got all the things I've come to expect from Chantal Fernando, and she never disappoints. With this being the early part of the series there's much more suspense to look forward to. The ongoing club business situation has not been resolved and there's no telling what surprises she has for us in Temper. The line forms here...
Ahh. this one was just a great read all the way around. Strong independent heroine and swoony hero willing to do anything to win her heart.
Loved Isabella and her sister both. Lots of character development in this book. I felt like I knew the MC better and the secondary characters all were really flushed out nice. So much so, that I can't wait to see what happens for each of them.
Renny has been infatuated with Isabella since he first saw her. They connect seemingly by accident and then Vegas happens. I loved that Renny was not afraid of his feelings and willing to do anything to show Izzy his heart belongs to her.
Some dram moments. Some angst and a whole lot of steamy love going on here. Not as much to do with the MC but we do get more layers about the ongoing battle between the Knights and another MC.
Can't wait to read more!
Isabella just had to reach her sister, so hitching a ride with a bunch of hardened MC bikers didn’t stop her cause, and besides they’re her neighbor’s so what harm can there be? There’s one, extra hot one, Renny, that’s the harm. He ticks every box in the ideal man category, handsome, very thoughtful, cooks and cares for others. Izzy can’t believe her luck.
Renny and Izzy are very different, they make a fun couple, but unfortunately there journey isn’t all smooth sailing.
A story set aside from the dark side of the MC. Plenty of chances to see past and future characters though. A much lighter MC story but still very entertaining. Looking forward to more from this series!
Oh this lady just did something so goooooooood.
Renegade just gave me something sweet. A MC romance without a lot of drama or unnecessary bullshit.
Isabella just so happens to live next door to the MC. Surprisingly there isn't all that much drama from them either. Just when life seemed all chipper her car clunks out on her at the WORST possible time and in sweeps her Knight (literally) clad in leather to save the day.
Isabella is the kind of character that I LIVE for. Good to the core!, sharp witted, sweet funny and fair. She's easy to love, easy to relate to and all round enjoyable to read.
Renny is absolutely not at all what I expected. He's so damn fucking sweet. Like legit the best ass kisser ever. But also so take charge manly will the fuck the shit outta you in the BEST ways possible kinda guy to.
I went into renegade not having a clue what to expect and absolutely having my mind shook. I'll tell you right now that this is not your usual drama filled rough ride mc story. Isabella and Renny's relationship starts off real sweet but soon take a crazy path that just doesn't stop. I love that this story gives us a more character driven perspective. We get to delve deep emotionally and get a real good grip of who they are and what's important to them. It's not all completely smooth sailing for them of course you have some bumps in the road but I really enjoyed how they got through it all. I just loved this story hard!!. I legit smiled to much my cheeks hurt it's that kind of book.
So without giving anything away I'm just going to say ... go get Renegade and enjoy the sweetness of it all.
Renny (Renegade) and Isabella (Izzy) collide when her car breaks down and Renny offers her a ride to Las Vegas.
The men of the club aren’t saints even though one of them is nicknamed such. Yet sitting with all of them, she doesn’t feel threatened , it’s more of hanging out with friends. She’s never felt that with any man before, her sister and herself are estranged from their father and none of her boyfriends have ever been protective of her resulting in self-preservation.
“Any time one of us has a problem, it becomes all of our problems, so let’s just say we deal with a lot on a daily basis.” “You trying to scare me off now, Renny?” I ask, arching my brow. “I thought you brought me here tonight to try and make me give you a real chance.” “Just letting you know what you’re getting into,” Renny says, pushing my hair back behind my ear. “So you can’t say that I didn’t warn you further down the line.” “Warning noted,” I reply, looking around at the group. “How about the rest of you? Have any other warnings for me?” “Yeah, Renny snores,” Temper informs me, eyes filled with amusement.
The men are hardened by life which sounds unfair because when you’re in their world...that reputation precedes you, it’s simply part of the lifestyle.
They’re both adjusting to their new arrangement. Technically married, yet not together. He knows that he desires her. They agree to communicate with the other and tell each other what they want out of each other. They’ve both led with their actions uncertain of where the other is at, because no one has declared their feelings. “I want you, this is me telling you, no mixed signals, no nothing. I want to try to see if this can be something.”
He sabotaged her car, forcing her to rely on them to escort her to visit her sister about to give birth. Then there is the quickie nuptials. “I wanted you to trust me, and I wanted an excuse to talk to you.” “Why?” I ask, tone harsh even to my own ears. “You could have just said hello, like a normal person. You could have put me in danger! Did you even think of that? Or were you too busy just thinking about your damn club?”
“You weren’t in danger. I just crimped the fuel line, and you had no gas in there, so the car wasn’t going to move. I’m surprised it even made it out of the driveway. We came up with a plan that we would make friends with you, get you to trust us and then... I don’t know, okay? We didn’t even know what we were going to do, but we know who your dad is, and we know that’s going to be useful to us. He’s a powerful man. With the shit going on with our MC right now, if we had him at our backs it would benefit us.” My dad. Of course. I didn’t even think of that, because I rarely connect myself to him. I thought Renny was my Knight in shining armor. Instead he’s just a lying biker in leather. “Well, unfortunately for you, I have nothing to do with my father, and he couldn’t care less if anything happened to me, just in case your mind was wandering toward kidnapping me for ransom or some sh*t like that”.
Her father is the mayor of their city. They have different surnames, the MC obviously got their hands on that information somehow. Ariel and herself severed ties with him long before the cancer took their mother. They stopped talking to him when he left her for his mistress after years of affairs, treating her less than she deserved. He’s not a good man. I do think he loves us, in his own way, but it’s not enough. He’s known for being a dirty mayor, and yes, for being powerful with his connections, too. I can see how having an in with him would benefit the MC, because he does control a lot of what happens in this city, and having him on their side would be an asset. I’ve never felt so used, though, and so betrayed. I know he’s hurt, too, but it’s too bad, because he caused this. They went to the extent of disabling her car so they could fix it and she would feel indebted to them. That’s going above and beyond in the betrayal department. That’s manipulative, cunning and well planned.
Their plan was simple: Use Isabella. And Renny was the one they sent to execute it. And how well he did.
How do you know I’m not home? Did you break in and check?” I ask him, pursing my lips. When he goes silent, I know that he did exactly that. “You are unbelievable, you know that?”
“I just wanted to see if you were okay, and try to speak to you about what happened—” “You mean me finding out the truth that you broke my car, lied to me over and over again, and planned on using me to get to my dad and his connections?” I ask, cutting him off. “I never thought you were anything but genuine, Renny. Perhaps you should become an actor?” “That’s not fair,” he says, sounding angry now. “Yes, I went into this with different intentions, but when I met you, everything changed. The conversation you heard was nothing new to me—the men have been giving me sh*t because I told them I had feelings for you. I also told them that no one was to go near you or say anything to you, and that if we wanted to save Temper’s brother, then we will have to find another way.”
“So everyone knows? And I’m some laughingstock to the MC? They all sat with me, laughed with me, got to know me, and they all knew I was only there because everyone wanted to see what you can get out of me?” I ask, yelling now. He goes silent. “Temper didn’t know and Skylar didn’t know, but yes, the rest of the men knew.” Temper didn’t know? So they all did this without the approval of their president? “Well, you’re all a bunch of as*holes, you know, if this whole thing had been genuine, and my car really had just broken down, and everything was true, I would have done anything to help you and the MC. I can’t believe you would use people like that. It’s so unattractive, and not the person I thought you were.” He still tampered with my car, still acted like it was a coincidental meeting, like it was fate playing its hand when really it was a really well thought out, elaborate plan to get me under his thumb... How am I meant to forgive that.
“Where is Temper’s brother?” I ask. “He’s in jail,” he admits, sighing. “He didn’t do what he has been accused of, and now his kids have been put in foster care. But that’s not your problem, it’s ours, and we’ll handle it within the club.” Temper’s nieces and/or nephews are in foster care but he doesn’t want me to worry about that? I’ve just become an aunt, and it’s one of the most important roles of my life. They’ve made this my problem and I can’t just pretend I don’t know about it. “What is he accused of doing?” “Someone planted drugs in Trade’s house,” Renny explains. “And before you ask how I know he’s not guilty, Temper’s mom died of an overdose in front of both of them. Neither have ever touched any drugs”.
“Who would want to frame him?” I ask, curious. “We don’t know. Could be another MC, the cops... We aren’t sure. Someone was out to get him. It could even be his ex-wife, who lost custody of the kids and wasn’t happy about it. Trade used to be heavily involved with the Knights, but when he became a full-time dad he left the lifestyle behind,” he says. “He’s still a Knight, and always will be one, but he stepped away, and we all respected that.”
They eventually mend fences not completely drama-free, as there are conditions attached to their father’s support to extricate Trade from being framed and Ariel and Mila’s kidnapping.
Chantal Fernando knows how to write MC stories.....SERIOUSLY, she is definitely one of my favorite authors for this type of book. Renegade is the second book in the Knights of Fury series and focuses mostly on Renny, one of the members of the Kights of Fury MC, and Izzy, who happens to be a neighbor of the MC's clubhouse. Renny helps Izzy get to Vegas to see her newborn niece, which helps Renny and Izzy get to know each other more and ultimately lead to a new friendship and so so so much more.
This book also involves Ariel, Izzy's sister as well as some drama with Izzy's father. Renegade also continues to highlight characters that were discussed in Saint, which was book one in the series and introduces new characers also. There is of course drama and mystery and manipulation. There is some definite chemistry with Renny and Izzy!!! I absolutely adored them together and despite their completely crazy start, I was totally rooting for them throughout the whole book.
I think the writing in the book was strong and the story line kept me engaged and invested. I definitely want to know what is going to happen as the series continues. I enjoyed these characters immensely and found this to be a highly enjoyable read!!!
This book was amazing. If you read and loved Saint, you will definitely love Renegade. This book delves deeper into the new MC that has come to town. I love this book and I'm excited to read what's next.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 18, 2019
Good girl Isabella wouldn’t miss the birth of her sister’s baby for the world. So when her car breaks down and one of the bikers next door offers her a ride to Vegas, it’s too tempting to pass up. Besides, she can think of worse travel conditions than wrapping her arms around Renny, otherwise known as Renegade.
Tall, dark and handsome, the man is pure sex on a Harley.
Between wild parties and rumbling motorcycles, living next to the Knights of Fury MC has always left Isabella curious, but after a night in Vegas, she gets a firsthand taste. Drinks in the club surrounded by burly bikers soon turns into a series of daring decisions, which don’t seem so bad until she wakes up the next morning. Married. To Renny.
Could she be more of a cliché?
Nothing complicates an annulment like lingering temptation, especially when Isabella and Renny give in to their need, putting their marriage where their mouths are. But as Isabella learns what outlaw life is really like, she’ll have to decide if she’s in love with a biker—or in over her head.
REVIEW: RENEGADE is the second instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult KNIGHTS OF FURY MC romance story line focusing on the members of the Knights of Fury MC. This is Jasper ‘Renegade aka Renny’ Steel, and graphic designer Isabella Johnson’s story line. RENEGADE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from first person perspective (Isabella) RENEGADE follows the building relationship between Jasper ‘Renegade aka Renny’ Steel, and graphic designer Isabella Johnson. On her way to visit her pregnant sister in Vegas, Isabella Johnson experiences car trouble and finds herself on the back of a motorcycle driven by Knights of Fury MC member Renegade Steel. A wild night of drinking results in a Vegas wedding between Isabella and Renny, a marriage that Isabella quickly wants annulled but upon their return home Renegade begins a slow seduction of the woman with whom he will fall in love, a woman who will soon discover that betrayal comes from many directions. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Renny and Isabella, and the potential fall-out when secrets and lies all but destroy Isabella’s faith in the man with whom she is falling in love; and a rival MC targets not only the Knights of Fury but the Mayor himself.
Isabella and her sister Ariel have been estranged from their father for several years and Isabella’s relationship with Renny adds fuel to a fire that continues to burn.When Ariel moves in with our story line heroine, Ariel’s past threatens their well-ordered world, a world that now involves the Knights of Fury MC.
The relationship between Isabella and Renny is one of immediate attraction but based upon a lie and circumstance out of Isabella’s control. Renny has struggled to introduce himself to their beautiful new neighbor, an introduction that now involves a Vegas wedding, a potential annulment, and threats against the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are passionate but mostly implied.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Saint and Skylar, Temper, Trade, Dee, Chains and Crow; Isabella’s sister Ariel and her ex Merve; as well as their father.
RENEGADE is a story of betrayal, secrets and lies; family, friendship, romance and love. The premise is engaging, entertaining and captivating; the characters are energetic and dynamic; the romance is seductive but predicated on a lie.
Isabella lives right up the road from the Knights Fury MC but she has little to do with them. She barely sees her neighbors until Renegade pulls up beside her one day after her car breaks down. Her sister went into labor in Las Vegas and Isabella is determined to get there. Renegade offers to take her there since he was on the way with the guys.
Renegade offers to bring her back home once she spent time with her sister and the baby. The crew all hangs out in Vegas where the two realizes that there is a strong attraction. Things progress when they return home but there are secrets that could potentially destroy their newfound romance.
This is definitely MC lite. The club business is far in the background of the story. I didn’t expect a gritty biker romance but I did anticipate a well crafted romance with a strong biker theme present. Instead, I got a strong romance but the bikers are too clean down to the hero. He is clean and neat. He likes to cook. The only indicator that he is in the biker life is that he rides a bike and the author tells us.
There are a few plot holes that seem to not be filled. First, there is a character from the previous book that makes an appearance. It seems like that storyline should have gone somewhere but unfortunately, the author just dropped it and the character magically disappears. Since that story is not closed, readers can only assume that the author will use her at a later book for some trouble.
While this is not my favorite in the series so far and it is a little too light in the biker romance but I still recommend this series. The author introduces plenty of characters so there are more books to come.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
3.5*s
This is the second book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you read Saint first, so that you are up to date with the current state of the MC.
I really enjoyed this biker romance, and felt that the relationship between Izzy and Renny developed well, with a great twist in their first visit to Vegas. As well as a cute new baby niece for Izzy, there was Shadow, the dog they re-homed, who was the star in a few important scenes. However, there were bits which it seemed to me were skated over - indeed I didn't get why they were there - when they could have been used to good effect. For example the shooting at the mall. I waited and waited for it to come up (surely it was a huge event in her day!) - to be fair, eventually it did, but so much in passing that it seemed pointless to have included at all. There were a few other passages which I found didn't help the story's progress. They didn't spoil the story, but they did deflect from the flow.
That said, I found that there was good chemistry, definitely plenty of excitement, and enough mystery and intrigue that I am looking forward to reading the next book.
The whole married in Vegas trope can be fun I'm not sure how it will be with the addrd MC element though. But I've liked the series so far. Renny helps Izzy out when she needed it to go to Vegas. There a little partying goes in a drunken wedding. While I'm glad they want to give it a shot in an actual relationship not married but dating. I think by Izzy wanting to consummate it then being all weird about getting it annulled is odd. They both like each other and get along so maybe they should've handled the marriage thing first before diving in. It just gets messy.
I get Izzy's reservations about the biker thing but she went ahead and got close to them and all. They don't communicate too well. I know Renny and the whole alpha biker thing but he's actually a nice guy. I liked Izzy not a pushover she can be rash. The whole MC being nice to her blew in an unexpected way. While I think that could be solved with talking it out or facing the issue that Renny has ulterior motives in hanging out with Izzy.
Even though that whole thing with Izzy hating on the MC she softened towards Renny soon enough. I got confused she wasn't sure about the whole thing but then she eventually caved. It ends pretty fast. There was blow back drama from the last book that's just starting again which probably will carry over with the other books. All in all an fair enough read nothing to really dislike. Easy enough to read along. I guess after to huge books it was a nice break.
Renegade by Chantal Fernando
Knights of Fury MC #2
A tame biker book with a sweet story sees Renny and Izzy eventually moving toward a HEA in the future. Izzy’s car breaks down when she needs to get to her sister in Las Vegas and Renny and three of his buddies from the Knights of Fury MC offer her a ride. Feeling a bit desperate she took Renny up on the offer and headed off to see her sister and help with the birthing of her niece Mila. And thus begins a story that was...interesting.
What I liked:
* Renny, short for Renegade, my, oh my, OH MY...what a splendid many he is! That said...perhaps a bit too clean cut and “nice” to be a biker.
* Izzy the openhearted brash and bold woman that loves is giving and caring but sure can hold a grudge
* The Knights of Fury men – all seem intriguing and worthy of their own stories.
* Shadow – sweet dog with a bite we have yet to see
What I might have liked to see more of:
* a bit more grit and darkness...or at least action scenes
* Where the story is going with the competing Killer MC group and Georgia
* A bit more about life in the clubhouse of the MC
This was a romance set in a MC biker background but really was more of a men’s club for feel than most MC biker books I have read in the past. That said, it was a fine story and I enjoyed reading it though I felt the ending was missing a bit of a letdown even though it did provide the HEA promised by Carina. I look forward to reading the next book in the series...I think.
Thank you to NetGalley and Carina Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
