Jimmy G. is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Uncivilized". He is a psychopathic teenager who, along with his best friend Mike D., rapes and murders a seven-year-old boy and frames a registered sex offender for the crime. He is loosely based upon the late Richard Loeb, one of the perpetrators of the infamous "Leopold and Loeb" murder.
He was portrayed by Ian Reed Kessler.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Jimmy is a coarse, thuggish juvenile delinquent who spends all his free time skateboarding with his best friend, Mike D. Although Mike is far more intelligent, Jimmy is the dominant, alpha male of the pair, bullying and manipulating his friend into going along with anything he wants.
When convicted child molester Bill Turbit moves into their neighborhood, Jimmy and Mike harass him by stealing and moving his bicycle. Upon reading on the Internet the graphic details of what Turbit did to his victim, Jimmy gets the idea to kill a neighborhood boy, seven-year-old Ryan Davies, in a way that matches Turbit's M.O. in order to frame him for the crime.
One day, Jimmy and Mike happen upon Ryan walking home from school, and start bullying him. Jimmy then grabs Ryan, chokes him with a bicycle chain and rapes him, just as Turbit had done to his victim, as Mike reluctantly holds the boy down. Jimmy then strangles Ryan to death with the chain, and he and Mike leave his body to be found by the police.
"Uncivilized"[]
While investigating Ryan's murder, Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit zero in on Turbit as a suspect, as the crime mirrors his earlier rape of a young boy, and he appears to have no alibi. Detectives John Munch and Brian Cassidy question Jimmy and Mike, who both say they saw Turbit in the vicinity of the crime scene at the time of the murder. The detectives arrest Turbit, who is eventually murdered by Ryan's father.
Upon further investigation, however, the detectives find that Turbit could not have committed the crime, as he had been in a bar at Ryan's time of death; the bartender had lied about Turbit not being there because he wanted him in prison and out of the neighborhood. They start to suspect Jimmy and Mike upon realizing that they, too, had lied about Turbit's whereabouts.
They bring Jimmy and Mike to the SVU station house under the pretext of taking their official statements about Turbit. Munch and Cassidy question Jimmy, while Benson and Stabler question Mike. The detectives quickly unravel the boys' stories, and they eventually confess. While Mike shows remorse for what they did to Ryan, Jimmy is coldly unrepentant, declaring that Ryan "was a loser anyway". Jimmy and Mike are then imprisoned for life for raping and murdering Ryan.
