Barney can most often be found in Thieves' Landing near the saloon. Barney also can often be seen behind the desk inside the foreman’s building in Plainview using the phone and managing documents, possibly inferring that he works as a foreman there. A compulsive gambler, he will be found playing either poker or Liar's Dice. However, he has also been known to frequent gaming tables in both Armadillo and Blackwater, as well as other locations throughout New Austin and West Elizabeth. While playing poker, he may challenge the player to a duel if they try to cheat.
