The Telephone Room is a location in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.
Description[]
The Telephone Room is a large room named for having three rotary telephones, each located side-by-side along the south wall. On the west wall is a large cabinet, which has a small table and a small sofa in front of it. The middle of the room only consists of a wooden chest lying against the north wall and a poster above it. On the east wall, there is a cabinet, identical to the one on the west side, and two additional large chests.
In the Nintendo 3DS version, the wooden panels are more detailed, and a wooden crate several small objects are on the back wall.
In Luigi's Mansion[]
The Telephone Room is a room part of Area Four, and it is the first new room that becomes accessible in the area. Luigi can optionally visit here during the blackout. During this, the two telephones ring, and Luigi can pick up the left one to hear from a Toad and the right one to hear from Professor E. Gadd. If Luigi answers the Toad's phone call, Toad asks who is speaking, and the player has the option to choose either Luigi or Bowser. If Luigi is selected from the menu, the conversation goes on as normal. However, if Bowser is selected, Toad hangs up and calls from one of the other phones, from which the same conversation commences, this time without the option to give one's identity. In the phone call with E. Gadd, he gives a hint about Uncle Grimmly, and just before the call ends, E. Gadd notifies Luigi about ghosts approaching him. Following this, the door is blocked off by some vines, and Luigi has to vacuum up one Gold Ghost, one Purple Puncher, and one Blue Twirler for the vines to disappear. This is the only room in the blackout where Luigi has to capture every ghost before he can leave the room.
After the blackout, the Telephone Room instead consists of two Mr. Bones, each located in a wooden chest, and when Luigi captures them both, the Telephone Room's lights turn on.
In the Hidden Mansion in PAL releases and the Nintendo 3DS remake, the room instead has four Bowling Ghosts and two Blue Blazes.
