🚀 **Right to Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities Extends to Digital Platforms Too: Landmark Ruling by Kerala High Court** 🌐 In a powerful step forward for digital accessibility, the Kerala High Court has affirmed that the right to accessibility for persons with disabilities isn’t confined to physical spaces alone but also applies to digital platforms. This landmark decision acknowledges the unique challenges that visually impaired individuals face when accessing online services, especially those essential to career and personal development. 📌 The case involved a visually challenged candidate who was denied the ability to complete her application for a teaching position due to inaccessible online submission processes. The Division Bench, led by Justice AM Mustaque and Justice PM Manoj, noted that requiring her to rely on third-party help restricts her autonomy and adds undue burdens that sighted candidates don’t experience. The court’s directive to the State and Public Services Commission to establish service centers for people with disabilities is a step towards inclusive digital platforms. As the court rightly observed: > “The duty of the State extends beyond merely providing access to public buildings and services; it must also ensure that digital platforms are accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities.” At SaralX, we stand by this vision.
