No. 1 is a mission in Grand Theft Auto IV given to protagonist Niko Bellic by luxury automotive entrepreneur Brucie Kibbutz from Brucie's Executive Lifestyle Autos in East Hook, Broker, Liberty City.

Description[]

When Niko walks into Brucie's garage, Brucie shows him a yellow and black Banshee, which he colloquially calls "The Bitch" and his "Favorite Ride", that he and his assistant Lenny are working on. However, Brucie appears to have botched the tuning of the car as it won't start, so he decides to borrow a yellow Comet from his friend Stevie.

Mission Objectives[]

In order to complete the mission the player must:

Go and collect the race car.
Go to the race start.
Win the race.
Take Brucie home.

Walkthrough[]

The player must drive with Brucie Kibbutz to Freetown Avenue in Willis to retrieve the parked Comet marked on the radar. Then, the player must drive the car to the starting location. The yellow marker will put the player behind the other racers. Once the player gets to the marker, the race will start.

When Niko wins the race, Brucie will be "jacked up" and wants him to take him home to work out, even though he did nothing. On the way to Brucie's apartment, Niko will ask what Brucie does for a living and why he needs so many people murdered. Brucie describes himself as an "entrepreneur" and says he wants people killed because of his mood swings resulting from his steroid intake. After this damning revelation, Niko decides to stop working for Brucie, but accepts hanging out with him notwithstanding. At the end of the mission, Brucie will relinquish the car to Niko and give "The Bitch" to Stevie as compensation. Niko drops Brucie off at his loft, putting an end to the mission.

From now on, Brucie will be one of the friends available on Niko's cell phone. He will call later because the other racers want a rematch. This will open up an additional activity: Brucie's Races.

Aftermath[]

Brucie will call Niko, saying the guys he raced against wanted a rematch, opening up races around the city, which is another job for Brucie.
Brucie will also become the player's friend, his ability being free helicopter rides around the city.
Niko can call Roman after completing this mission. He will ask Niko if he was right about Brucie being a good guy. Though Niko calls Brucie "crazy" and says he will no longer work for him, he is still open to hanging out with him.

Oversights[]

After the player goes to the race start, but does not touch the yellow marker and instead waits a few ingame hours, the other racers will leave the race. When the player enters the yellow marker, since all the other racers left, Niko and Brucie will be the only ones racing. However, the other racers can possibly be in 1st place depending on their location on the map. This glitch was confirmed on the current PC version and the PlayStation 3 version.

In some cases, the mission will not give the player a money reward listed in the rewards section for beating the mission. This glitch has occurred on the PS3 and PC versions.

Trivia[]

This mission can be played even after completing the ending of the storyline.
If Niko tries to steal the other racers cars, (doing so will fail the mission) they will be locked. Also, when Niko crosses the finish line, the rival cars will stop nearby without drivers, but with the doors still locked. The player, however, is able to push any locked car to a safehouse (e.g. on Hove Beach) with the unique Comet, and is therefore able to keep both cars. After saving the game or completing the mission, the pushed car will be unlocked. This is a way to obtain the Super GT before Algonquin is unlocked.
If the game doesn't pass a SecuROM check, (pirate versions) Stevie's Comet will be locked.
If the player destroys the Comet (by rolling it over, driving it into the water, or repeatedly crashing) and fails the mission, Niko will be in a Blista Compact with Brucie berating him in the passenger seat before getting out of the car.
