Stock Car Racing is an exclusive activity featured in the enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V for players who had previously played the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of the game.
Description[]
The races are introduced after the mission Mr. Philips by a text message from Ron Jakowski to Trevor Philips.
It can be found near the Yellow Jack Inn in the Grand Senora Desert and is marked on the map with a white race icon. An NPC will be standing next to a racecar that will become the prize for that race. The player can join the race using limited car classes (e.g. supercars are not permitted).
The race is always run around the same short track in the desert starting on Panorama Drive near the Inn, traveling north to Smoke Tree Road before coming back down Cat Claw Avenue past Thomson Scrapyard.
The player will be competing against the NPC in the Stock Car plus seven other AI controlled standard cars (a total field of 9 in each race).
Each race lasts 5 laps and winning the race each of the first four times rewards the player one of the four stock cars which will appear in the special vehicles menu in all protagonists' garages:
- Declasse Burger Shot Stallion
- Bravado Redwood Gauntlet
- Vapid Pisswasser Dominator
- Bravado Sprunk Buffalo
After winning all 4 Stock Cars, the 5th race prize will be the Cheval Marshall monster truck. To win this race, the player competes against 8 stock cars. Upon winning, the Marshall can be selected from the protagonist's hangar.
If a player starts a stock car race while driving a stock car, all other standard cars in the race will become stock cars. This effect shows the amount of stock cars that are in the game, but are unavailable to the player.
After the 5th win, the prize vehicle reverts back to the 1st car in the cycle - the Stallion.
As well as the prize cars, numerous modified cars appear in the races, including modified Sultans, Futos, Mananas, Blades, Pigalles, Ruiners, Sabre Turbos, Peyotes, Buccaneers, Dominators, Coquette Classics and Phoenixes.
