Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Kristen Ashley has done it again! I’m such a huge fan of hers and her Chaos series. I know the first book (Shy’s) and the last book (Joker’s) have been fan favorites. They were favorites of mine. I wasn’t expecting to love High’s story as much as I did theirs. I didn’t know him well, and I didn’t have that connection going in. I may be in the minority here, but this story, Walk Through Fire is my favorite Chaos book. It might even be my favorite KA book period. It certainly hit me harder emotionally than ANY of her books. The only book of hers I came close to crying as hard in was Lady Luck. There were parts in this story that completely gutted me. Yes, it hit harder for me (the subject matter) for personal reasons, but I can’t imagine anyone reading this book and not crying.

Millie Cross lost the love of her life twenty years ago. Well, she didn’t lose him. Not really. She walked away from him. She had no choice. She had to do what was best for him. She loved Logan that much.

 photo 2C18A81A-3EE8-4518-94FC-06DD069DB6E0_zps6ud1jd2i.jpg

The first 40% of this book showed us scenes from the past, how Millie and High fell in love. It also showed where their lives ended up. You get a lot of insight into why Millie did what she did and why Logan and the Club seem to push her so much. My heart. I can’t even describe how I felt at times when reading this first bit. I was devastated. One scene in particular gutted me. When I read it I cried like a baby. Then, a few days later going through my quotes for this book I came across the highlight, and once again… tears. It’s been over a week since I read this book, and I’m still crying over this scene!

After Logan realizes the reason Millie left him and how she truly did walk through fire for him, things start to change between them. The first half of the book was crazy intense, then things started to slow down a bit as the couple started to rebuild what they once had and cherished all those years ago.

“We lost each other. Now we’re found. And nothin’ else matters.”

Millie was a heroine I related to immensely. Having issues similar to hers, I can completely understand why she did what she did and reacted the way she reacted. Contrary to what some might think, it took strength. I know I sure as hell would not be strong enough to do that. I would go a different route and maybe it’s the better route and maybe it’s not, either way, each situation is different. I think it will be easy for some people to judge Millie and her choice but I also feel it’s one of those situations that unless you’ve lived it, you can’t judge.

Logan I had mixed feelings on at the beginning. Who is this man? In the past flashbacks, he is fantastic, he’s near perfect. Now, he’s angry, he’s aloof, he’s distant. Logan has been through a lot and he never knew the whole story so his actions and feelings were real and raw. He grew on me and by the end, I loved him completely just like Millie.

I think Logan’s ex-wife deserves a special shout out too, because wow. This woman was awesome! I loved how she had the couple’s back and was just all around nice and cool. There was already enough going on in this story, the last thing needed was a nasty ex.

 photo 3230A315-C044-42C3-9ECF-52D5BDA95459_zpse7gjn63g.jpg

Sometimes I wonder if my friends and followers are sick of seeing my Kristen Ashley reviews… I’m sorry guys. I don’t mean to sound like a broken record or have it be a giant gush fest, but I can’t help it. I love this woman’s books like no other! Walk Through Fire is so special to me. It’s a story that made me think and feel and a story I hold close to my heart. I will never forget this book or these characters. If you are looking for a beautiful second chance love story that will hit you hard in the feels, I highly recommend this book!

3.5 "My Inner Thighs Be Fuckin' Tinglin'" Stars

Before I say anything else, I have to say this:

It's a wonder Millie can get anything done or even walk in a straight line what with how much her "inner thighs were tingling" or "those never forgotten tingles shot out from [her] inner thighs."

description

Because, seriously, I think that was stated like a million times.

Okay, that was an exaggeration.

But for serio, at least ten times.

description

It's also a wonder she doesn't leave a trail of bread crumbs a la Hansel and Gretel everywhere she goes...

...But in the form of the Niagara Falls of snail trails to end all snail trails.

description

*shudder*

*
*
*
*
*

Or perhaps less Hansel/Gretel...

...And more Fido style?

description

Anydrips.

Either way, there was a lot of talk about "wet spots" and "leakage" --- let me repeat that:

"LEAKAGE"

-- that I could have done without.

description

But I digress.

Moving on.

description

Okay.

Now moving on.

For real this time.

This book started off GREAT.

As in EPIC LEVEL GREAT.

Truly.

The first 45-50% of this book was SO good -- I can't even describe it, it was that good.

And - despite the aforementioned tingling snail trail thighs..

It.

Was.

FUCKING.

HOT.

And I was SUPER excited for what I knew was going to be an AWESOME book that would forever live on my Kindle's "Top Favorite of All Time" Shelf of wonder and joy.

description

There was tension.

There was angst.

There was drama.

Millie was cool.

And High was a totally delicious ASSHOLE. In the very best way.

And there were some hot sexy times that made this skank one snail trail happy girl.

description

And.

It.

Was.

AWESOME.

Sincerely though.

You know when there is a desperation to your reading?

Like when you are SO excited to find out what happens next, you have to physically restrain your eyes from skipping ahead down the page and spoiler-ing your own damn self?

I KNOW I'm not the only freak in these parts.

description

THAT'S how awesome the first 50% of this book was.

*
*
*
*
*

But then that 50% was over and we got to 65%...

description

*
*
*
*
*

And then 75%...

description

*
*
*
*
*

And finally 85% and on...

description

And to that I say:

description

What in the ever living hell happened?

No seriously, someone please tell me because I have no idea.

It's like once certain hurdles in the story line were crossed, it just...ran out of steam or something.

The wicked awesome tension and desperation was just...gone.

description

There were definitely things going on up until the high 70th percentile that kept me interested.

I won't get into any of that so as not to include spoilers.

But I will say this:

Daughter Zaida?

*
*
*
*
*

description

Let me reiterate my point...

description

FUCK that kid.

Yes, yes, I know she's only 10 years old.

I don't even care.

description

#SorryNotSorry

description

Other than that, things continued in regards to the whole overarching Benito Valenzuela story line.

Meaning: Stuff happened...And yet...NOTHING...actually fucking happened.

description

But anysnooze, like I said, the beginning of the book ROCKED, while the middle and ending leaned more toward a ROLL, but at the end of the day the book as a whole was worth reading just for that first half if nothing else.

Also, the connection between Millie and Logan was truly an epic love story.

A love like theirs is what little girls dream about.

And for that alone, I'm happy to have read this.

Who knows, maybe that last half with grow on me in a future re-read.

description

But stranger things have happened...

“Are you saying we should start up where we left off?”

“Did it ever end for you?”

What a gorgeous love story!! Kristen Ashley really outdid herself. The emotional journey that Logan and Millie went through and the depth of their love — the things they sacrificed for their love — just hit me so hard. Theirs was the kind of ‘bottom of your soul, straight to your gut’ epic love that made them willing to walk through fire for each other. I cried, I swooned, and I completely adored this book!!

Over twenty years ago, Millie forced the one man who she loved more than anything else in the world to leave her. Even though it gutted her and devastated them both, she made it so that he’d go away for good and never look back. Logan had lived for her, loved her with all his heart and soul. What she did left a gaping hole in his soul that never healed… For two decades, she walked through fire — knowing full well everything she’d given up, unable to ever let go of the love she had for him, and living with the fact that her soul-mate hated her for what she’d done to them. But when she runs into him one day in a checkout line and overhears him on the phone talking about divorce papers and his kids, everything changes…

So I’m going to be honest with you. I judged Millie before I had all the facts. I went into this book fully expecting that I’d have to forgive some stupid reason for their break up. I knew that Logan wasn’t a cheater so seriously, what the hell reason could she have had for not only giving him up, but also forcing him away? Welp, serves me right for underestimating KA because when the true reason was revealed for what she did, I quite literally burst into tears. We’re talking full-on crying here. Of all the possible reasons I imagined, that was one I never saw coming. And truthfully, it was probably the only one I’d be able to forgive or accept. It broke my fucking heart into pieces. The selflessness of her actions gutted me even though I wanted to shake her for doing it. Seriously, that whole ‘reveal’ scene was heart-wrenching. I mean, did I think she still handled the situation wrong twenty years ago? Yes. But did I understand why she did it? Absolutely. Like, my God, what a selfless woman. Seriously. She gave up everything for him.

“You’re always here, Logan. Even when you were gone.”

Gah. THE FEEEEEEEEEEELS!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved it.
LOVE
LOVE
LOVED IT.

The story is told (especially in the beginning) primarily from Millie’s POV, although as the story progresses we do get to see other ones as well. And while most everything takes place in present day, in the first half of the story, we also get gorgeous flashbacks to twenty years ago when they first fell in love.

In the first quarter/third of the book, there’s a lot of hate that comes across from characters that makes perfect sense given that the only thing Logan knows is that the woman he gave his entire heart to apparently threw it away without a second thought. Some regretful things were said, and hurtful actions done, but please don’t be too mad at them. Everything is explained and everything comes out into the light. And their reunion is absolutely beautiful. You’ll see clear as day that everything is not as it seems and even though it’s not apparent at first, their love for each other never changed.

God, there were SO MANY powerful scenes. Like the one with him going through her house realizing exactly what she’d been living with the last 20 years. So goddamn powerful.
Millie and Logan had the kind of love for each other that, no matter how much time had passed or pain had been borne, once they were back in each others’ lives, it was like they’d never been apart. When you read it, you’ll see — you’ll feel — that it’s impossible not to believe that they belonged together.

He tipped his chin so his face was in the top of her hair.

‘I gave you up, walking through fire to do it but I did it. I did it in the end. I gave you everything.’

He’d fucked up… But he’d fix it. Then it was his turn. Finally, fucking finally. It was his turn to give her everything.

I totally broke down crying several times. The pain, the loss, the healing, the unconditional selfless love had me overflowing with emotions. There’s something extremely beautiful about watching two people who were clearly meant to be get a second chance at the happy life they were always meant to have had, and seeing them realize full well how precious that chance was and not wasting a single second of it.

“I’m gonna fuck you breathless in a way you’re gonna remember every second of it for the rest of your life.”

I loved that, once Millie communicated to him why she’d forced him to leave, he not only understood it and forgave it, but did everything in his power to help them make up for lost time. Despite their painful history, they were a surprisingly funtional couple and I absolutely LOVED reading about them together.

Then he changed my whole world.
No, he didn’t change it.
He gave it back to me.

“I love you,” he declared. “Loved you then. Love you now. Never quit lovin’ you in a way I knew I never will. You were it for me, the only one, the only woman I ever loved, and you never quit bein’ it. So I think you can get how I cannot find words to explain how fuckin’ pleased I am that you’re back.”

I won’t give away too much but I will just say that family is huge theme in this book and it’s presented in that soul-deep kind of way that only KA can deliver. She just understands people and relationships on such a deep level that the emotions come across so strongly in every single scene she writes.

This book absorbed me. I read it in one sitting and couldn’t put it down from start to finish. Not only is there a gorgeous romance, but we see all kinds of fantastic cameos from the whole Chaos gang, and even appearances from the Rock Chick and Dream Man teams! — Side note: Elvira and Shirleen rock my world!

Oh, and one more thing. After learning the meaning of this book’s title “Walk Through Fire”, I can easily say that it is my most favorite of all KA’s book titles. Absolute #1 favorite title. Like really. Holy gorgeous!

If you’re a fan of emotional, heart-felt second chance romance, and you happen to love Alpha male heroes and bikers, then this book and series are absolute must-reads!

“Never,” he whispered, and my hands rested this sides curled into his flesh at his tone. “Never, Millie, don’t you ever hide or feel ashamed of the emotion you have for me, for us, for what we lost, for all we got back. Don’t ever do that. All a’ this is gonna be pain right along with pleasure. That is, until we work through the pain and got nothin’ but the good left over. And I swear to you, fuckin’ swear, I’ll get us there.”

Rating: 4.5+ stars! Contemporary Adult Romance.

This series should be read in order:

Overall, I enjoyed this book. No one writes second chance at romance like Kristen Ashley.

I absolutely loved the flash back scenes and the history between High and Millie. There was a confrontational scene that was so well written and tangible that once I finished the book, I quickly re-read it again...and again.

However, I had one main issue with this book—Elvira! I absolutely LOVED her in The Dream Man series but I haven't fully enjoyed her character in this one. For me, she doesn't really fit, takes up way too much page time, and now acts like the "Queen Bee" of the Biker Babes. Boy, did she get on my nerves!!!

Other than that, I very much enjoyed High and Millie's second chance at romance. Kristen Ashley is one of my favorite authors. Her unique storytelling always leaves me captivated and enchanted.

Full review now posted...

Walk Through Fire, the fourth installment of Kristen Ashley’s Chaos series, is such an emotionally gutting story. There were things I loved about it, things not so much. People I loved, other people not so much. But to say I was caught up in Millie and Logan’s story is putting it mildly, and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to sort out all they made me feel.

Blurb…

Millie Cross knows what it's like to burn for someone. She was young and wild and he was fierce and even wilder-a Chaos biker who made her heart pound. They fell in love at first sight and life was good, until she learned she couldn't be the woman he needed and made it so he had no choice but to walk away. Twenty years later, Millie's chance run-in with her old flame sparks a desire she just can't ignore. And this time, she won't let him ride off . . .

Bad boy Logan "High" Judd has seen his share of troubles with the law. Yet it was a beautiful woman who broke him. After ending a loveless marriage, High is shocked when his true love walks back into his life. Millie is still gorgeous, but she's just a ghost of her former self. High's intrigued at the change, but her betrayal cut him deep-and he doesn't want to get burned again. As High sinks into meting out vengeance for Millie's betrayal, he'll break all over again when he realizes just how Millie walked through fire for her man . . .

My thoughts…

I have to be honest – in previous books Logan and Millie flew so far under my radar that when their story came up my first reaction was, “who?” But for two people I knew very little about and had no interest in knowing more… I’m surprised how invested I became and how early that investment came.

And I will continue to be honest when I say that, in the beginning, I had a problem buying into the reason Millie abandoned Logan way back when. It’s a plot that, in my opinion, is too often used. That said – Kristen Ashley made it work for me by taking us deep into Millie’s heart – clear down to her soul – and showing us the depth of love she had for Logan. Her’s wasn’t a choice made in a moment of immature high drama, it was a gutting, life altering decision made by a woman who loved her man so much she would sacrifice her own happiness to give him a chance at his dreams. It worked, and it worked to the point I was nearly in tears.

As always, I loved, Loved, LOVED revisiting the Chaos family, but more than that I loved, Loved, LOVED the glimpse into the past we got of a younger Tack, the man who knew the path the club was on needed to change. To see the division taking place in Chaos…the sides taken and the turn towards something better…one of my favorite parts of Walk Through Fire.

Chaos continues to be one of my favorite series and most anticipated reads and it’s because Kristen Ashley can take something ugly and tragic and make it into a beautiful thing.

I gave you up, walking through fire to do it but I did...
I did it in the end. I gave you everything.

It's been a long while since I've read a book that touched me on such a visceral level. I don't cry in books. Maybe I have a cold black heart, maybe I don't have a soul, I dunno, it just doesn't happen mkay. But here? I was a mess. A wreck. Absolutely and utterly pathetic. Sniveling, ugly crying, uncontrollably emotional wreck. In case you're still not with me, basically I spent the first half of this book in this particular state:

My husband came home from work and caught me reading it, and after taking in my ugly crying state freaked out thinking someone died. True story. Basically, the moral of this story is do NOT read this book in public unless you want people to think there's something seriously wrong with you. This book will tug at every heart string you have and rip it to smithereens. I'm not even kidding. Don't say I didn't warn you. I though it was just a fluke at first, so I went back to re-read a few key parts and nope! I was a wreck all over again.
My life had been interrupted and I'd never restarted it.

One of my favorite tropes is a second chance romance and Walk Through Fire delivers on the promise of it beautifully. While I had no recollection of High from the other books in this series, I have to say he's probably one of the most memorable I've read from Chaos. The story of him and Millie was beautifully tragic. But twenty years apart changed them both. While Millie went on to live her life, she never truly lived it, not without High. And High has spent the last 20 years trying to forget she exists and hating her. Something that he reminds her of vividly when he does finally set his eyes on her again.
If you call me a bitch one more time, High, I swear to God, you're regret it."
"What you gonna do? Suck my dick clean off?"
"God, you're an asshole."
"Bet I get you on your knees and I get my cock in you, one end or the other, you'll stop thinkin' that."

That gif basically sums up my feelings for High and the rest of Chaos for the first half of this book. High is a royal asshole to Millie when he sees her again. She broke his heart all those years ago and he's not about to let her forget it. She walked out on him and Chaos, and now that she seems to want the chance to explain, he'll use the opportunity to switch the roles from twenty years ago.

To say that the first half of this book was intense would be a major understatement. It was raw, painful, heart-wrenchingly good. I couldn't set the book down for even a minute. I wanted to hate High and yet I couldn't. I was going crazy trying to figure out the secret of why Millie did what she did those years ago. I wanted them to finally talk instead of lashing out at each other even though there was something utterly delicious in their viciousness.
I'm done walking through fire for you, High...
I'm done not because I'm done but because there's nothing left of me to burn. You have it all. You've always had it all! I gave up everything so you can have it all! Please! God! Leave me to my nothing.

I was afraid that I wouldn't like Millie when I originally read the first chapter of this book as a preview in Ride Steady. She came across as weak and slightly whiny. Boy was I pleasantly surprised by her in Walk Through Fire. This woman is a survivor and she certainly gave as good as she got, and let me tell you, she got plenty.

The first half of this book was easily a 5+ star. There's a very clear change of pace between the first half and the second half, and for me, that transition was what ultimately brought my rating down slightly. As intense as the first half was, the second half was almost....boring compared to it. That's not to say that it was boring, but it was just such a sudden change from one to the other, that I found myself wishing for something more.

I also had a tough time connecting to the fact that Millie

All my favorite secondary characters make an appearance and there were plenty of great moments to go along with the emotional ones.
There were only a few words in the Vocabulary of Badass but each one had a number of meanings. They included beautiful, Christ, fuck, Jesus, and shit.
But the one used the most was babe.

I'd say this book divides into two halves, the first half finds Millie and High together after 20 years apart and dealing out pain to each other while attempting to deal with a love that clearly never died. The second half focuses on their rebuilding their lives together. While I had some quibbles with the book as a whole, anything that can put me through the emotional ringer like that is worthy of at least 4 stars. Quibbles or not. I haven't had a reaction like this to a book in....ever. Seriously.
But we didn't walk through fire only to get to the end of that and not get our reward. If we can walk through fire, baby, we can do anything."

Kristen Ashley books and alphas are an addiction for me. Even at her worst her books are the best. Not to say that this was her worst, far FAR from it. This is probably one of the most emotional books I've read by her to date. So if you're prepared for one hell of an ugly cry, step inside the world of Chaos and enjoy.

"Never give up. Never quit dreaming. Because dreams had a way of being. You just had to keep hold."

So so thrilled I was gifted with an arc. Ever since I read the blurb about this couple in the last book I have been dying to read their story, and Kristen Ashley does not disappoint.

On a regular day Millie decides to get a meal from Chipotle. While there she sees her ex Logan "High" in line ahead of her, precedes to freak out, run away and falls apart. Twenty years ago Millie and Logan had been in love, before she sent him away citing the Chaos motorcycle gang as the reason breaking both of their hearts.

For the last twenty years Millie hasn't been living, she's been going through the motions and merely existing. Millie's real reason for sending Logan away is one that has haunted her the entire time, and now Millie decides she wants to tell this to Logan. Crashing a biker party, things do not go the way Millie intended, and she and Logan end up having explosive hate sex. But Logan has held onto his anger all these years for what Millie had ruined between them, and he wants nothing to do with her. At least, that's what his head says. His body says otherwise.

"Nothing wrong with dreaming. But you got it right. Best way to dream is to do it, then earn it, no matter how that happens."

Now we all know Kristen Ashley, what I just described above is only the tip of the iceberg of the story told here in this book. But because I don't want to give away any SPOILERS (evil) I will not be saying anymore plot wise. I will say from this point on, the two go through some seriously hot hate fucking and Kristen Ashley decides to play tug of war with our heart strings. Simply brilliant, my favorite part of the book.

I did have a few moments like this:

---> especially when I found out how long it had been since Millie had had sex. Too long in my opinion, but you'll have to read the book to find out and come to your own conclusions.

After the halfway point new issues and hurdles are tossed the couple's way leaving them to navigate new territory for both of the MCs. This is also where the book gets a bit sweeter and mushier which I also like. But the second half of the book also turned into a stepping stone for the next book/conclusion of the series? and with that lost a bit of the charm that I loved in the beginning. To be honest I don't give a hoot about the big bad they've been building up to and I tend to skim those parts.

I loved the cameos of the cats in the book. It's obvious they were inspired by Ashley's real life kitten duo (she's got pictures on Facebook, look it up) and it made me even like cats for a little bit. But I don't like cats I'm a dog person so let's move on.

Millie and Logan are what I would call a timeless Kristen Ashley couple. Logan is a dominant man but not as much as KA hero's in the past. He's a man who lets things go when he needs to and it made him an amazing partner and father to his girls.

And Millie was someone who suffered silently for years, I loved watching her come alive again when the love of her life came back to her. She's one of those kind hearted people that would be irreplaceable if she was in your life. She's devoted, loving and selfless and not one bit annoying (at least to me).

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book:

"Never, Millie, don't you ever hide or feel ashamed of the emotion you have for me, for us, for what we lost, for all we got back. Don't ever do that. All a' this is gonna be pain right along with pleasure. That is, until we work through the pain and got nothin' but the good left over. And I swear to you, fuckin swear I'll get us there."

"We didn't walk through fire only to get to the end of that and not get our reward. If we can walk through fire, baby, we can do anything."

"Everyone's got an endless capacity for love. Which means everyone's got the shot at receiving an endless supply of love. Don't matter who you give it to or get it from. Just matters you got a heart big enough to give it and a heart open enough to get it back."

"I'd do it again for another moment like this. And again for a moment like I had over French toast with you and your babies. And again and again and again, for each night I get to sleep with you. No joke. No lie. I'd do it every day it was so worth it to walk through fire for you."

And extra GOOD NEWS

Ohh, I was so nervous to start this book. It seemed like it may be overly angsty, and I do not do overly angsty very well.

But then we all know I LOVE a lovers reunited second chance romance.

So, Mille and Logan had been in love, and not just in love but IN LOVE. They were each others one. When Millie, out of the blue ended it, and in such a way to almost destroy Logan and make him think the 3 years they had had together had been a lie.

So when Millie goes to Logan, after 20 years deciding it is time to move on and explain her reasons, Logan, and his "brothers" do not react well. And while some may have issues with this, and yes he was an ass, as were Chaos, it was understandable. Chaos had seen what it had done to High, the self destructive path he went on, and at the time did not care who he dragged along with him. But you felt for both High and Millie, and the first 40% was heart wrenching and heart breaking but oh so worth it once High found out just how much Millie had given up for him.

Now, I have heard some rumblings about the reasons Millie having left High not being good enough, but I went through something similar myself, at an older more mature age, and still, it almost destroyed my marriage. I can totally see Millie, given all her and High had spent 3 years discussing and wanting, being totally unable to cope and know how to deal with it at her age and doing what she did.

And while she did not move on relationship wise, she moved on in life, she had grown and matured, had a very successful business, a house she had worked on herself, but I can see her not being in a relationship, given why she forced High to walk away, her not starting a new relationship, given what she saw as her lack makes sense.

I did get to say 40% and think, you know at this point, most authors would end the story, they are back together, surely that is all that there is, off they ride into the sunset....but this is KA, so we know she like to give us more. And more she did, and while the second half was not as much of an emotional roller coaster as the first half, I still loved it. It was them settling into life, the problems that can face families in that way.

Oh, and the huge PLUS - Logan's ex was actually cool. No horrible psycho ex!

Plus we have the storyline ARC that has been through all the Chaos series. And this is maybe why it is 4 stars and not 5. Seems like Chaos and the bad guy have spent the entire chaos series pushing each other back and forth and not much happening. Threats here and there, and I kind of forgot exactly what had happened in previous books and my worry here is that will all come to a head in the last chaos book, and quite frankly overshadow the romance, as this storyline ARC is building and building, and it has to explode, as opposed to just petering out. But I kind of just wish it would get done.

But, I still loved reading Millie and Logan's story and cannot wait for more from this series.

WALK THROUGH FIRE is a great second chance romance by Kristen Ashley.

“For three years we lived happily. But we didn’t live happily ever after.”
As young twenty year olds, Millie & Logan, were a happy couple. Their lives ran perpendicular to each other with him being part of an mc and her in college. But that didn't deter them because they were in love and had found their other half.

”I’ve been walking through fire for you for twenty years, Logan."
Whoa! WHAT?! Twenty years ago something happened that made Millie walk away. Logan is totally clueless, as are the readers, to what it was that made her fall off of his radar. When Logan and Millie encounter each other 20 years later he’s angry that the love of his life up and disappeared on him. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like Logan because he was a grade-A Jerk with a capital j. I know he was hurt by Millie but he treated her so poorly I wasn't sure he was going to be able to redeem himself in my eyes.
BTW- I can’t tell you what made her run from him because that’s a huge part of the story. Just know that the secret isn’t drug out for the whole story line.

“You hooked your star to an outlaw, baby.”
When they reconnected they found a lot of had changed between the two of them over the last 20 years. They weren't those two young kids with stars in their eyes, they were older and little more jaded. Now, they're trying to fit their lives together and are running into some challenges along the way. Plus, Logan’s outlaw life is skirting around the edges of messing with Millie’s quiet life she has built for herself.

”Millie, I was given one good thing in my life, the family I was born into. I found one good thing, my Club .... But in all my life, I only earned one good thing. That’s you.”

I really enjoyed this second chance romance. I’ve been on a KA binge lately listening to her books and I can already tell this will make an awesome audiobook. Walk Through Fire has KA's signature flair that will have fans one-clicking her book.

Need green tea bags stat....

I made it to the other side of Walk Through Fire (aka WTF) alive but a little battered. This story had my emotions on a rollercoaster. The devastation I was feeling towards characters that I had grown to love was starting to wear me down. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could take seeing someone attacked so viciously.

AND NO ONE HAD ALL THE FACTS!!

I didn’t have all the facts, Millie didn’t have all the facts, Logan didn’t have all the facts and the bloody, mean, douchwaffle Chaos didn’t have all the facts. I spent a lot of time reading the first half of this story with tears pouring out of my eyes. Fellow readers, do not be alarmed…I do this A LOT. I’ve been known to cry at reading about a stubbed toe, I’m a big sooky la la. My poor hubby walks into the bedroom to find me with tears pouring out of my eyes, gives me a pat, a kiss on the cheek and tells me I’ll be OK. I’m sure he walks out of the bedroom, to his man cave and cracks up laughing, but to me he is sweet.

Anyways…I can’t say I enjoyed the first half of the story, but it definitely set up the scene perfectly for the ultimate fix…and KA always fixes things. It took a little longer than my hormones liked and I swear I had red puffy eyes for the first 24 hours. Once the fixes started to fall into place and things were explained, it wasn’t all plain sailings. Bandaids needed to be applied, balms needed to be rubbed in and paracetamol needed to be given for the headaches. This was a 20 year misunderstanding, so a lot of people were touched in the fallout, some good and some bad.

I liked all the different components that made up this story. Chaos men are not soft and they sometimes say and do the wrong things. We know this, but WTF was a prime example of a bunch of blokes who stick the knife in without all the facts and are then all sucky, sucky up when they realise the monumental mistake they made. The Old Ladies and their affiliates are still causing trouble, but their hearts are in the right place. We have children involved and for once KA hasn’t given us little angels with words of wisdom way beyond their years…she gave us Princess Devil Child. This kid had me shaking my head, tsking and mumbling Mum talk - “if that was my child” and “that child needs a time out”, left, right and centre. Big Pete is still a sweetheart, Tack and Tyra still rule as King and Queen of Chaos, Elvira is still talking with attitude…and we still want one more glimpse of Hawk, Lee, Vance, Slim and Mitch.

Lots of sexy times that showed a great connection that had lasted through the years. The sweetness that High showed towards Millie, once he had her back, was on par to the beach scene in KA’s Lady Luck. Words that touched me deeply and made up for some of the heartbreak he had caused. Millie’s guilt was something else that needed to be overcome and High was always there to help her see that they had both made mistakes.

The Chaos series is not my favourite by Kristen Ashley, but it still holds goodness within. Own The Wind is my least favourite, and in WTF the same dumb duck, did another dumb duck move that had me gritting my teeth and shaking my head.

All good, left me on my usual KA high and gave me faith that 41 is not too old to be held up against a wall and…given the good ;)

~5 RIDE THROUGH THE FIRE STARS~

description

In Walk through Fire, Kristen Ashley wows us once again with a passionate heroine and a bad ass alpha who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to shoot down the entire world to get it. It is a blissful "second chance delight" which will leave you wanting more.

description

Millie is a successful business owner who lives in a beautiful renovated house. She has no children, no boyfriend, and not even a cat to call her own. While out one night at the local Chipotle, she sees the love of her life. After a quick eavesdropping session, she realizes that he is getting divorced, has two children, and seems to be happy. Millie has spent the last twenty years in despair over the loss of his love in her life. In the haze of “coulda, shoulda, woulda”, Millie decides to approach her lost love and tell him why she left him all of those years ago.

"It was my job to make sure you had it all. It was my job to make sure you had everything. But you wouldn't let me go. You'd never let me go."

Logan is a rough riding biker making his way in the world as a CHAOS brother. He is tough, he is mean, and doesn’t put up with anyone trying to get in his way. When Millie breaks back into his life, he is furious. The audacity of her barreling back through his “easy ride” causes an avalanche of heartbreak and anger to burst forth.

description

Logan might be mad at Millie but the thought of how he can seek revenge overcomes him. After a few angry tumbles between the sheets, Logan recognizes that Millie is not the same Millie that she was when they were together. Logan and Millie have twenty years worth of heart break and miscommunication to work through.

description

Told in dual POV (with a shifting setting from past to present), KA offers another "second chance romance” served with a heavy dosage of steam and a side of light action. Both Millie and Logan were extremely likable characters and although the heart of their plight might be a bit "heavy handed", it is delivered in a manner in which I felt it to be sincere and completely realistic. There was no doubt in my mind that both characters were driven to the choices that they made and I enjoyed every moment of their reconciliation period.

"We stroked and we petted and licked, sucked, dragged, nipped until the urgency he built took over because Logan took over and all I could take in was his scent, all I could do was clutch him to me, my face in his neck, my his riding his fingers thrusting into me."

The passion between Logan and Millie is not only dynamic but also tender. The build up for the "big reveal” was well paced. Although I questioned her choices, I admired her ability to put Logan before her own selfish needs. I found Millie to be a delightful heroine who exemplifies a strong woman just putting "one foot in front of the other”.

description

An additional delight in this read is the continuity in Ms. Ashley's writing. She always offers glimpses of beloved CHAOS characters. Kristen Ashley knows how to weave and “reweave" the scenic locations and characters into a beautiful potluck shmorgishborg. I always feel like I am sitting right at the counter waiting for TEX to serve me a cappuccino or I am a voyeur in the bedroom with TACK and TYRA as they have yet another delicious duel of words (and tongues). As per KA standard, the written text is written in her own style and the characters' dialogue reflects the way they would sound when speaking.

description

"Walked into a party, fell in love with you. Walked through fire when I lost you. Got you back. Nothin', will make me lose you. Hear?"-Logan

Overall, Kristen Ashley fans will adore this read. Although she follows a similar formula in each of her books, my thought on that is, “If it aint broke, don’t fix it!” It always amazes me how I feel transported so easily in one of her reads. Every single KA release day feels like Christmas for me. I look forward to the next CHAOS installment as the action in the story is truly coming full circle! Bravo, Ms. Ashley for another amazing ride! My kindle and I will be ready and waiting for the next CHAOS BIKER and his CHICK!

Some of my recent KA books have been hit and miss for me. But this one didn't disappoint. Yeah, you have to sort of suspend the disbelief a bit with some of the scenarios but, overall, the story worked.

And this time, she won't let him ride off . . .

Logan Judd was no longer my business.

Logan was an ass in the beginning of the book but he had his reasons.

"We do this, you don't talk except to say 'fuck me harder,'" he ordered roughly.

There were a lot of beautiful things about Logan Judd and one of them was the perfection of his dick.

Whatever ended Logan "High" Judd's and Millie Cross's love affair was not a play or a betrayal. It was a tragedy

A dream that was a lie ...

Yeah, we had the itty, bitty descriptions that some either love or loathe. I love them.

"Fuck yeah," he growled.

Just dive into Logan and Millie's story. Parts of it are heartbreaking.

As usual, sex scenes were HOT. Gotta love these KA men, they can get it up at any time.

It's official. Kristen Ashley...

I love the badass heroes and smart heroines this woman creates and her stories are simply wonderful. This one no exception. It delivered a healthy amount of angst, which I crave in books.

But also made me tear up few times and I'm not really cry baby when it comes to books.

High... High... High...

Yeah... he is Robert Downey Jr. kind of hot.
Especially in that bandanna (*wink* *wink* Jennifer!)

Him and Millie... both angry and sweet sex... HOT!

I love everything Chaos, I think it may be my favorite series from KA and after sleeping on it, this book is definitely the best in series. In fact, book hungover was so strong that I already reread favorite parts twice. Ah, just go read the book. It was...

I think partly due to the fact that main couple was in their forties. It's nice to read about mature relationship from time to time.

Highly Recommend! Fini.

”Twenty years without you and it was always…only…you.”

A second chance romance delivered with grit, heart, humor and some action. I enjoyed this installment in the series and found a whole slew of things that were total standouts in this book. The couple’s return back from their “walk through fire” was well delivered and at times hurt but overall made for a very good read.

”I met my perfect man at age eighteen and I had him for three years. Then I sent him away. Could I right those wrongs? Should I? You obliterated him. I had. And I’d done the same to myself.”

As a reader you can expect to:

1. Totally cringe at High and the boys’ treatment of Mille in the beginning of the story.
2. Get turned on by those hot as sin sex scenes.
3. Sob uncontrollably at Millie’s reasons for ending this epic love twenty years prior.
4. Laugh your ass off because my girl, Elvira is in this book.
5. Love the various POV chapters scattered throughout the story.
6. Hope that Deb and Keely get a book in the near future.
7. Saddened by the fact that Rush wasn’t really in this book.
8. Embrace the kidnapping scene because what would a great K.A. book be without one?
9. Swoon over the tattoos. (Tattoos to me in stories have become pretty standard issue but K.A.
put a fab spin in her usage.)
10. Love the fact that Tyra was used to wrap this book up, STELLAR move.
11. Totally invest in a sweater dress and dream of High wearing that bandanna.
12. Last but not least, continue to love all things CHAOS!!

Overall, a great read that brings the feels and the love, the tight brotherhood and family vibe, that only K.A. can deliver with her trademark brand of dialogue and epic characters.

”Consumed by the flames for twenty years, every second was totally worth it.”

4 Darlin’ stars

Kristen Ashley books are made to be experienced; you gotta jump right in knowing she's gonna do you right and give you one hell of a love story. Walk through Fire brings us back to Chaos, telling the love story of Millie and Logan. Logan isn't just a bike with a kick ass name, he is one hell of a sweet alpha male too, a man with always the right words to make you swoon and make you wet. He is a man devoted to his club, his kids and when it matters most to his one and only. Millie is a woman who knows her man's worth, knows the love she can give him, and knows what it takes to give him everything he deserves and more. Making the choice of letting it all go.
You love a man, you believe in him, you take him as he is. You go on his journey with him no matter what happens, even if that means you have to walk through fire.

If your looking for a story about second chances at life and love then this is a story for you...throw in a KA alpha, a kick ass old lady and you got the makings of one hell of a love story. The entire crew is back doing what they do best, loving and welcoming them into their family giving them all access pass to meddle. The only thing that drew me back from giving it a solid five stars is the time wasted, unable to wrap my head around the fact that they kept their space for years without ever crossing paths. It kills me to know that they had the power to bring happiness in their lives but we're kept from it. Regardless to say it is a solid four star read for me, and in the KA rating scale it pretty much speaks for itself. Read it, you won't be disappointed!

***SPOILERS AHOY***

I've thought about my rating and review long and hard. For the first 47-50% of this book, I was in cloud nine. It had everything that I've come to expect from KA and so much more. The angst was delicious. I gobbled it up like candy. Then the second half came and then it lost steam. Partly because the conflict resolution was just...meh...for lack of a better word.

Millie and Logan met and fell in love instantly 23 years ago. They lived happily for three years, but then Millie, due reasons she didn't disclose to High, made an arbitrary decision of ending their relationship. High was devastated. It affected him so much that his brothers in the MC were worried for him. Millie suffered, too. Unlike High who was able to move on, Millie was stuck in a rut for 20 years. 20 long years of living like a ghost. 20 years, people. That's a long ass time to put yourself on ice.

Fast forward to 20 years later, Millie saw High again and she wanted to make amends and explain her reasons why. But High and the club were having none of it. In fact, they went of their way to send this message to Millie. There was a scene in the book which was the turning point for me where and Millie was there. What happened next was like a scene straight out of Mean Girls except that it's not funny and the perpetrators were grown ass middle aged men essentially putting Millie in her place by humiliating her in front of a lot of people.

Not cool, dudes. Not cool. Apparently, "bros before ho's" is a code all bikers swear by, which I get...but come on! Really? If this had been NA and these characters are in their 20s, I would've understood their methods. Maybe. But these are bikers. Middle aged bikers. The reason being put forth was that they're showing High that "they have his back," whatever the fuck that means since Millie didn't even show any sign of aggression towards him nor did she blatantly seduced High (who's 45 years old, by the way).

Anyhoo, Millie was feeling all this guilt because she broke up with High 20 freaking years before, and so she just took the humiliation the club dished out. Oh, she did some flouncing. She flounced off to Paris and had every intention of cutting all ties with the club, which I absolutely supported 100% at that moment. But then High finally had a come to Jesus moment which led to them getting back together again as though nothing happened. And this is where the story went downhill for me. Aside from the semi step-daughter from hell, the conflict and tension in the second half were non-existent.

I partly blame Millie for shutting down whatever non-apology the club and High might have given her. Instead, she settled for a chin lift. A CHIN LIFT, PEOPLE! A chin lift. Ugh.

Despite my ranty review, I'm still giving it a three because it's KA and I enjoyed the first half. I just wish the resolution was fleshed out more. It felt uneven to me.

I still can't get over the chin lift though.

Needing some space to regroup, I took a ride back to re-discover books and authors that touched me and wouldn't let go. Kristen Ashley has always been my calming go to. She has this way of writing that once you get her mindset and understand how she weaves a tale, it can be addicting, especially with her "Vintage OG series. These books are always something I come back to.

4 You Hear Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free-A 2015 Review
To state from the get-go, I was so excited to receive this arc...and to have a second new KA book so close to together... that was almost like winning the lottery of Guilty Pleasures Reading.

I had already been excited about an older demographic of characters, people who have lived a life...people who had a history together and it had somehow gone wrong... causing them to be apart.
Now their paths had crossed again and I knew something huge was going to happen, that is KA's way. Mix that premise with it being part of the Chaos storyline...Bikers, Beards, and Outlaw ways...and I was all in.

This tale consists of a couple of parts...whether it was intended to or not in my opinion. The first part is the combustible reunion of sorts between High/Logan and Millie. These two were The Fantasy Biker Couple. They met at a party when Millie was just 18. Logan, 23, made this impressionable entrance; later sat next to Millie and started a conversation. It was just one of those magical moments when everything lined up perfectly...she was into him... he saw how special she really was...and it blossomed from there. A first date on which both of them knew was "SOMETHING"... not a hook-up or casual.

Millie was strong enough to approach that concept from the beginning and it was who she was from her upbringing. She was a "Good Girl but with a bit of an edge" and her parents knew they could trust her judgment. They saw her and her sister become these women. They gave them the support they needed to make smart decisions... and if the decisions were questionable...like falling for a biker... they allowed the biker to show what he was made of before passing judgment... they believed in their girls.

Logan(HIGH) saw what type of family Millie was from; respected it and gave it the care it deserved. He never gave her family a reason to doubt his love for their daughter or concern for her care in his life. He had come from a loving family... wanted it for his own, wanted it with Millie.

Millie was an Old Lady to the first degree. She had the spirit, the understanding of how to be with her man, and most importantly, when to push back and stand for herself. These two were something to see...hands always in contact with each other's body... on a shoulder, a hip...lips touching or heads fused together with no consciousness of the world around them.

And through the 3 years together, they talked of the family they would have... the children they would name and the life they would be so lucky to have.

And then they weren't that couple...
There was no future together...
And both were destroyed by her hand causing it...

He went on to be High, Logan lost forever...He became the guy in the club who would ride off, hot...ready to take on anything...willing to put himself in front of it all...with the death wish deep inside....wishing to kill the pain he could not escape. He survived it all... he was not meant to perish...and during the course of these decades, he married for the sake of his babies to be...to a woman who only cared about these new lives. They existed, not really coupling but loving totally their little girls. They held this union together until it became clear this wasn't good for any of them... including the girls.

High is now divorced with two young daughters and that is his focus besides his brothers at Chaos.

Millie somehow pulled it together after her leaving Logan/High. She focused all her energy on the business she created. She had double-majored in business at college and all she learned plus her work ethic and need to hide from life made her extremely successful. She managed her money wisely; she bought a home and made it perfect. She set up her life so all she had to do was walk from her main house to the studio across the courtyard on her property and she was at work. She got dressed every day to the nth degree....full make-up and hair, designer clothes, and professional agenda. She was The Party Planner in the area.

And her life was empty....she was moving through it not living it.
Oh, she had moments of happiness...her sister provided that with her constant love and support and with her two children...bright spots in Millie's life. She had her own girls from way back... friends who stood with her through thick and thin... and they all loved each other...

But Millie watched as life went by... doing the personal things by route...and it was on the day she decided to do Chipotle instead of Whole Foods that she got her "wake up call". For there she heard The Voice...it was talking on the phone about arrangements of picking up his girls....and looking for a house. It was close and she couldn't breathe, move or feel her extremities... for the voice was his...Logan's.

She slid her eyes to the side when the body of the boy grown to this man stepped up and put his order in...there she saw him in the flesh, not her 20 years of dreams. There she realized none of the things she feared or imagined happened to him...he was alive, he had a family...and he was alone?????

Millie got out of the place and escaped his presence, she crashed and cried when she told her loving sister....but the real damage had been done. She saw him, heard him, and knew she needed to talk to him...to end this 20-year nightmare she had been carrying...it was time.

What happens next was to be expected from an outsider's point of view...such hurt and pain inflicted for whatever reason would do serious damage to all but especially this romantic loving biker...He gave up caring, loving only his kids and they were the only thing that pulled him through the dark times and away from the destruction... High closed off all feelings which mattered except for those brothers and children.

So when Millie is compelled to search him out... with a practiced explanation of why she pushed him away... and how she just wanted to free him and herself from it all...

She did not take into consideration the fury she meets from High.

She did not understand the overwhelming need inside to touch him, smell him, feel him again.

She makes the move which changes all the considered plans before...and High full of who he is now mixed with who he was when he was with her, explodes.

The results are devastating for both...gone are the intentions from Millie...Confusion and anger of this resurrection are pulsating off High...this is a situation that must be ended...High will not let it stand...

Let the games begin.
And they did.

This was the first part of the book. It was intense, it had moments too painful yet real to describe...it also would cause me to want the understanding of why this all was happening in the first place to make me check and see where I was in the book...which, personally is not always a good thing...

The next part was more of the lessons we as people who have lived lives must learn... that our younger selves with good intentions make the dumbest mistakes...that we assume (which as we all know Makes An Ass of U and Me) we have the right answers for our partners never asking them questions and giving them the opportunity to show us we are not so right after all. The damage to both parties when this type of thing happens is usually extreme and cannot be repaired. This book addresses that...and then presents the situation of where do you go from there...

How do you work with what has happened to people you loved, always will love, and their past lives without you.

We go through this journey with Logan/High and Millie. We see what a first love can be like in all its glory. We also see what this type of love can bring when it is taken away.

The truth is, it doesn't matter if it is based in a Biker world or any other...All of us do some of the things Millie described in the first part of this book...We think to ourselves we will order the healthy meal, start the exercise program, read the meaningful book and eat our meals off the good china...Because we all know we are worth it...

BUT WE DON'T DO IT...

Instead, we continue to go about our lives waiting to do...putting off till tomorrow...Well, people... TOMORROW NEVER COMES...

So I think with all of the lessons there are in this book... mixing families and the challenges parents, new partners, and children have with that... regaining family and friends from long ago and understanding your place and appreciating it in this world...The lesson of living in the NOW is the strongest and most profound.

There are other moments, too. High talking about his daughters, what he wants for them. They understand of special moments in their lives they will have and how meaningful they will be. KA created a man in High which was almost too good to be true... He loved so deeply, understood so much once his head was on straight... he really was a fantasy wish to have.
Millie had her times, too...but for me, it was High.

Oh, the added bonus of this book was all of the characters you love from Chaos are there as well as cross-overs from other series...They come into play and also lead to the idea of another book happening as the conflicts for Chaos are building again...

I know those of us Chaos Readers are waiting for Rush's book... but I sensed some other stories that might be brewing too... like Hound's or Snapper...KA is interesting that way... leaving bread crumbs for us to mentally follow.

So lead away KA... you know I will follow...

"I love you."
"Loved you then.Love you now.Never quit lovin' you in a way I know I never will."

This is by far my favorite book in this series! What an emotional ride, Kristen Ashley did an amazing job,she made me feel so connected to the story! This story is about second chances, forgiveness, love, loss.I don’t want to spoil the story, because I believe this is one of these books that you must read and feel everything!

Have you ever read a book that you wanted so bad the mane couple to be together???This is exactly what I wanted for Millie and Logan! These two deserved to be together. They have lost so many things and they needed to be back together and have their happy life together. There are many emotional and intense moments between Millie and Logan I couldn't stop myself from crying. My heart was broken for Mollie, even though I was a little pissed with her decision to keep this secret from Logan, but then I understood that she loved him so much.More than her own life and she wanted for him to be happy! But apart from this she is also sweet, kind, strong and a good person.Logan is ugh I don't know what to say first...He is so good,I love him.He is protective, funny, sweet and hot.

"I never forgot why I loved you so much, missed you so much. But having you back,I find that I still forgot."

Whatever Kristen Ashley writes is simply fantastic! This woman can write amazing stories that will touch your feelings and your soul!!You should definitely read this one and please prepare yourself and take with you tissues because you will need them!!

photo Walk Through Fire - Kristen Ashley_zpsxkwpfssr.png

As many of you may know, Kristen Ashley is my favourite writer since I decided to read one of her books. I was waiting for Walk Through Fire like a crazy person LOL I actually requested the ARC in Netgalley but it was not accepted *snif* However, I can say after all this torture of waiting, that KA (again) did not disappoint me: this was fabulous!!!

This book is the fourth in the Chaos series and it tells the heartbreaking story between Logan "High" Judd (one of the hot Chaos MC bikers and a man who has not fully lived since the love of his life left him) and Millie Cross (a very-sensitive but very-strong woman who made an enourmous sacrifice and she has suffered the consequences during many many years).

It wasn’t simply that I was in a rut.
My life had been interrupted and I’d never restarted it.

Logan and Mellie were lovers during their twenties and had a relationship for three years. We can see that through flashbacks and it is clear that they loved each other very strongly. However, one day, without any problems between them, Mellie decided to leave Logan.

Twenty years pass, and still not knowing why she left him, Logan has married and divorced and has two children. In the contrary, Mellie is still single and without any kids. And well.. the first 40-50% of the book explains their past story and we finally discover the reason why Mellie disappeared. Let me tell you guys, as you could see through my status updates, I was crying my eyes out. LITERALLY, for forever. I was hurting for Mellie and High (especially for her, because he is kind of an asshole at the beginning). KA is one of this writers that is able to make me cry everytime. It was SO FREAKING SAD.

“It was my job to make sure you had it all. It was my job to make sure you had everything. But you wouldn’t let me go. You’d never let me go. So I made you let me go so you could have it all!”
“Baby,” he whispered, the word tortured.
“I gave you up, walking through fire to do it but I did it,” I told him. “I did it in the end. I gave you everything,” I finished, finally, finally fading.

I just love Kristen's writing, she is amazing with descriptions, with dialogue and with very-emotional and complex characters. I love how she makes is love and hate one character at the same time. I was in the middle of the book when Mellie meets Logan's babies and well.. I am sure you understand I started hating Zadie's guts (because she was so mean..) and then, at the end, I loved her. I enjoy the interactions with all the other characters and how KA gives, everytime, an amazing emotional roller coaster of a love story. So sad, sweet, hot, funny, sooooo everything!!!

I asked, “You’re unbelievably happy?”
Baby, are you back?”
Oh God.
“Yes,” I whispered.
“Millie, I was given one good thing in my life, the family I was born into. I found one good thing, my Club. I made two good things, my babies. But in all my life, I only earned one good thing. That’s you.”

Never give up.
Never quit dreaming.
Because dreams had a way of being.
You just had to keep hold.

Therefore, without any more of my emotional thing haha my rating for Walk Through Fire is 5 STARS. I think I do not need to repeat why I loved this book (it has so much love throughout my whole review!). I cannot freaking wait for the next book (which I been thinking about and I believe -hope- it will be about Hound, and I hope, Keely: YAAAAY!) I just want to say, if you haven't read this book (or practically any book) by Kristen Ashley, just freaking DO IT. I highly HIGHLY recommend, you will not regret it! ;)

“Never give up.
Never quit dreaming.
Because dreams had a way of being.
You just had to keep hold.”

*sigh*

This book is the perfect example why Kristen Ashley, badass biker and second chance romance is the best combination ever. It was just wonderful. Emotional, sexy, heartbreaking and so very much like coming home.

A second chance romance that hits right in the feels, makes your panties melt right from the start, badass biker and kick-ass heroine shenanigans on top. Just the right thing to make my heart melt and to make me lose a day or two of my life. Not complaining, mind you, but once I start a KA book I can never really stop. It’s like going down the rabbit hole. Because when I’m done with the book I usually go back to re-read her older books. It’s a vicious and addictive cycle of alpha male goodness. But I digress...let’s talk story!

“Are you saying we should start up where we left off?”
His comeback was instant. “Did it ever end for you?”

Twenty years ago Logan 'High' Judd and Millie Cross were the perfect biker couple. From the first moment they met head over heels in love, made for each other and destined for a great future with a big family. That is until after three year of bliss Millie up and left High - out of the blue.

Now all those years later, a chance encounter helps Millie to find the resolve to clear the air, explain her actions, make peace and to finally be able to live her life. But things aren't that easy and the first time they see each other again after twenty years of silence tensions run high and there might be some explosion of sorts. The good stuff. *wink wink*

“It was so worth it to walk through fire for you.”

What can I say? Both Millie and Logan are just phenomenal characters. Strong willed, stubborn and kick-ass. Their history is so deeply rooted, it made the angst so much more agonizingly beautiful. I legit cried at times and that is not an easy feat to accomplish. Now I'm a sucker for second chance romance, so that was a no-brainer from the get go, but the story just worked. It's not easy sailing after their first reunion, in fact it's down right nasty. They have to work and fight for the HEA.

There is really nothing more I can say without repeating one of my gazillion other KA reviews. I love the woman and her writing. She has created my happy place on the book shelf. When I’m down, when I have a book hangover or just can’t deal with real life for a second this is my escape. Alpha males who talk in one word sentences. Sassy heroines who wear LBDs, drink fruity cocktails and bake sugary goodness on the weekends. It’s a bit like heaven.

That’s it. Read the book. Now excuse me while I go back and re-read Motorcycle Man...just because I can. ;)

"Only him...Only her."

I know I sound like a broken record but just love KA! I can't go wrong with laughing, crying, loving and lusting when I read one of her books.

From almost the very beginning, Millie Cross and Logan Judd's (aka High) story brought out so many emotions in me.

There were so many times where I found myself fighting back the tears and struggling to keep it together along side Millie. I was a mess.

This is definitely a second chances love story and it's also about the lengths one will truly go to for the love and happiness of another, even at the expense of their own happiness and life.

 photo WTF_zpsq35vvzso.jpg

Logan and Millie have history; a past. They met twenty years ago and for both, they knew that they'd found their dream. Then one day, it all ended at Millie's hand. At first, I was a little skeptical with her reason for pushing High away. While Millie doesn't reveal it for some time, I figured it out right away as I'm sure many will. But KA worked her magic because she brought me around to seeing Millie's sacrifice as not about drama through Millie's POV. I saw it for what it was. It was truly about one person giving up their dream for another. And it was such a beautiful yet heartbreaking thing.

"You love a man, Millie, you believe in him, you take him as he is. You go on his journey with him no matter what happens, even if that means you have to walk through fire."

I also had moments in the first third of the book, where I seriously wanted to hurt High and Chaos...

I got why they were doing what they did but damn, it was brutal!

Millie and High were beautiful together and even with the crap and obstacles they had to navigate once they'd found each other, it was so worth it.

"Never give up.
Never quit dreaming.
Because dreams had a way of being.
You just had to keep hold."

For KA fans and of course those of you who love Chaos, you'll enjoy this. And for anyone who hasn't read KA (not sure they exist), I recommend you do. It's worth it!

★★★★ 4 Stars ★★★★

The first half of this book was a definite 5 Star read for me, it had a massive amount of love/hate sexual tension and there was a mystery surrounding the reasons for High and Millie hating each other. My eyes were glued, I couldn't look away from the pages and it was perfection.

The second half maybe hit a 3.5, I felt it dragged a bit after the big reveal but it was good all the same.

Millie was a young 18 year old when she met biker Logan at a party. It was love at first sight and they spent 3 wonderful years together planning their life. They were going to have a family and live happily ever after, but something went extremely wrong because at the start of this book, we learn that High has never been the same man since the woman he trusted with his heart left him in the dust without any explanation whatsoever.

When Millie spots High in a Chipotle Mexican Grill (I want one of these in England, I'm so jealous) talking on the phone about his daughters, she decides it's been long enough, and after 20 years she wants to make peace with him and finally move on in her life.

"I've been walking through fire for you for twenty years, Logan."

What she isn't expecting is the hatred to be pouring off of him when she comes face to face with the man that she once shared a life with. High is fuming that she has come back after all these years and still affects him so intensely.

She is not the woman she used to be, with her fancy job and fancy clothes, she is like the opposite of the fun loving laid back person he knew. But he sees through her, he sees that she is the ghost of a woman, and vows to find out why.

As usual, we have lots of cameos from other books, Elvira is a constant presence as are Tack & Tyra. I love reconnecting with the whole gang and I think that's what makes Kristen Ashley books so special, it's like one big family that you love to spend time with.

All in all, it was a great addition to the series and I loved High & Millie together, both when they were hating on each-other, and also when they were shooting the shit and happy in love.

Walk Through Fire is a standalone, but part of a series of interconnected characters. Told in dual POV.

FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED:

“You love a man, Millie, you believe in him, you take him as he is. You go on his journey with him no matter what happens, even if that means you have to walk through fire.”

Never underestimate the power of a great writer because the moment you step into one of their books, your every emotion is at their mercy, but when that writer also happens to be one of your favourite contemporary authors at present, their every single word has the power to annihilate you. And this book did just that. I have never cried so many times and so desperately as I did while reading this breathtaking story, every aspect of it touching everything that I am, everything that I dream of, everything that I fear the most as a woman. Ms Ashley’s unparalleled insight into the female psyche and her ability to infuse a woman’s innermost vulnerabilities as well as strengths into her stories, celebrating both in equal measure, is the very reason I keep coming back for more, the thrill of diving into one of her stories never wearing off, never dimming, never becoming anything less than a true craving. Whether you’re a fan of MC romances or not, it does not matter in this case—this is a story that first and foremost celebrates women for their resilience, for their selflessness, for their ability to love without limits, all the while underlining the meaning of true love.

“I met my perfect man at age eighteen and I had him for three years. Then I sent him away.”

Millie Cross once had it all—a man who adored her, a man she adored in return, the kind of future she’d always dreamed of within her grasp—but the course of her life changed with a single sweep of fate’s cruel hand, spending the next twenty years simply going through the motions of living, her heart never even beginning to recover from losing its other half. So, when a chance sighting of the man she never stopped loving suddenly brings back all the memories she’s fought hard to suppress, she becomes convinced that only facing him would heal her wounds, and perhaps even give her a chance to move on in life. Because the one thing Millie never told him was why she left him.

“I needed to right that wrong. He needed to know. And I was the only one who could tell him.”

Logan “High” Judd was only a young recruit for the Chaos motorcycle club when he met an eighteen-year-old Millie at a party, but it took him merely an instant to know down to his soul that she would be the only woman he’d ever love. After three years of blissful happiness, however, his heart was torn out of his chest when she sent him packing, throwing all their dreams away. For the next two decades, High moved on, settled down, tried to build all that he once dreamed of having with Millie, but the hole in his chest never went away, never allowing him to forget the pain he felt from losing the love of his life.

“Millie,” he called.
I kept my gaze to the yard and replied with a, “Hmm?”
“Safe with me.”
My attention cut back to him.
“Never won’t be, babe,” he went on softly. “Not ever. Hear?”

When High finds himself suddenly facing the woman who broke his heart, he channels all he’s ever felt for her into anger, wishing to hurt her over and over again for all the pain he’s had to endure since she left him. He uses her bodys reaction to him to punish her, to humiliate her, to make her feel as insignificant as she’d made him feel all those years ago when she pushed him away without an explanation, and she suffers every blow, every hit to her dignity, starved for his touch, for his love, for his tenderness, knowing there is nothing of her left to break. Until there is and she is forced to tell the man she never stopped loving why she left him when they seemingly had it all.

“I’m done walking through fire for you, High! I’m done not because I’m done but because there’s nothing left of me to burn. You have it all! You’ve always had it all! I gave up everything so you could have it all! Please! God! Leave me to my nothing! And if you gave one single shit about me, ever, make them let me have my nothing!”

And this is where my own heart broke into smithereens, crying for a heroine who never deserved the fate life served her, or the punishment she endured as a result of it, and hurting for a hero who spent twenty years of his life never really knowing why he lost it all, or how much he had truly been loved all those years. This is a story of second chances at love, at happiness, at a happily-ever-after that was theirs from the beginning and it always remained theirs, showing us that time cannot touch true love, and that great sacrifices often bring even greater rewards in life. This is also a story of forgiveness, of acceptance of what we cannot change. In true Kristen Ashley style, we are given two characters who are so multi-faceted and compelling that their journey very much becomes our own, and I felt every up and down right in my gut.

“I love you. Loved you then. Love you now. Never quit lovin’ you in a way I know I never will. You were it for me, the only one, the only woman I ever loved, and you never quit bein’ it.”

With a colourful plethora of secondary characters from previous instalments in the series very much playing a vital role in Millie and High’s story, and proving once again the unbreakable bond connecting them all to one another, Ms Ashley has given us another unforgettable tale that will undoubtedly be added to the ‘re-read pile’ for many. I was drawn to re-visit several scenes right after I first finished this book, unwilling to bid farewell to this story and to these characters…because if you keep re-reading a book, it never really ends, right?

“If we can walk though fire, baby, we can do anything.”

4 'Flowery, biker goodness' Stars

Millicent Anna Cross and Logan "High" Judd fell in love with one look at a party. Before the first word was even spoken their lives became one and they became inseparable. For three years their light burned bright and in a way that let it be known to anyone around that they were it for each other. But it all came crashing to a halt when Millie pushed Logan away in a very messed up way.

Now, twenty years later the pain of losing Logan has never left Millie's life so when she see's him at Chipotle one day she decides to end her suffering. Hunting him down, she know's that it is finally time to clear the air and tell him what really happened all those years ago. But Logan has been suffering just as much as Millie for twenty years, so when she suddenly appears back in his life, he isn't very pleasant about the reunion. Logan and Millie have the fight of their lives ahead of them, and secrets will be revealed that will rock both of their worlds.
"He was my dream man. I was his dream woman."

Kristen Ashley writes stories like no other, her writing style is completely unique and I doubt I will ever read another author who can put words together like she can. This book was one of her greats and is definitely one that I will be re reading time and time again. The story - amazing, the characters - badass and perfect, the emotions - a complete roller coaster.

I loved Logan and his badass ways and he now has the official second place spot on my KA's Best Badass Hero list (first spot will always belong to Tack). In the beginning I seriously wanted to shove him down a flight of stairs but after he stopped being such an asshole I saw the caring side to him and fell head over heels. I loved that he was able to accept Millie back in his life and understand that they couldn't go back to how things were but that they could move their relationship forward.

Millie was sassy and badass biker babe even after twenty years of not being in that life. I really enjoyed her character and loved how she called Logan on his shit when he was being an overbearing butt munch. I did struggle with her character a little in the beginning because I couldn't wrap my head fully around the fact that she didn't have any man in her life for twenty years. But once everything started coming out about what happened I started to accept it and even understand some.

During the beginning of the story we got to go back in time and see how Logan and Millie got their start and some other pieces of their history. I really liked getting that part of them and experiencing it because it really helped fully understand the connection they shared.

Logan had two girls with his ex wife, Deb and I really liked how that was handled. In most book the ex is always horrible and we're made to hate them but that wasn't the case here. Deb was actually pretty cool and had a good relationship with Logan after the split. The fact that she wasn't some psycho ex that was hurtful made the situation seem more realistic to me.

Overall, this is one of the best second chance love stories I have ever read. I love these boy's and every time I read one of these books I feel apart of Chaos and I love that. Also, that cocksucker, Valenzuela is back in this book so that storyline has continued and made me hate him even more.

First and foremost, Kristen Ashley is the absolute queen of writing. This lady creates unique, engaging stories that pull you in immediately and don’t let go. I have truly enjoyed all her books I have read, but this book just hit me in a completely different way and is definitely one of my all time top 5 KA favorites.

Millie and Logan meet when they are young, in their twenties, and for three years have the most perfect relationship. For the those years they fight, love and grow together. They are soulmates, completely in love and planning to spend the rest of their life together. That is until one day when Millie unexpectedly breaks up with Logan and walks away.

Logan Judd was no longer my business. He’d stopped being my business twenty years ago. My choice. I’d let him go.

Twenty years later Millie sees Logan again and her world stops. Not that she was truly living, but she feels this overwhelming desire to finally confess everything. Logan want’s absolutely nothing to do with Millie. He is still angry and allows his anger to dictate his actions. Millie and Logan battle it out, that’s really the only way to put it. Logan doesn’t trust Millie and after he breaks her down so many times she doesn’t care, she just wants things to end.

This story hit me in the feels more than most and at times was just heartbreaking to read. I know this story is fiction, but with Ashley’s writing I felt it all and my heart. I honestly had to take a break my heart was hurting so bad for these fictional characters, I know I sound crazy, but it’s true.

“I’m done walking through fire for you, High!” I yelled. “I’m done not because I’m done but because there’s nothing left of me to burn. You have it all! You’ve always had it all! I gave up everything so you could have it all! Please! God! Leave me to my nothing!” I swung an arm out to their table “And if you give one single shit about me, ever, make them let me have my nothing!”

Despite the heartache I loved this story so hard. I loved these characters. Millie is one of the most selfless characters I have ever read and I can honestly say I am not sure I could even do the things she did. Logan is hard at first, but once he understands things he is the perfect hero. Ashely completely sold me on Logan and Millie together, they are soulmates and destined to be together.

The story is told perfectly in present time, while reflecting back to key moments in the couples relationship. This way we get to see them fall in love and also see how their lives developed apart. Kristen Ashley is crazy talented and we all love her stories, but in my opinion this story was just more. I loved it and felt every word with my whole heart.

Once finishing my first read (Yes, I confess, I needed to savor this one several times) I had to step back, catch my breath and process all the feels. This one totally did me in above and beyond any…and I mean ANY of Kristen Ashley’s tales. I was completely destroyed throughout most of this story courtesy of Millie. For personal reasons, I connected with her character, her heartache and all that she had suffered; she just touched me more than any other heroine I’ve encountered. There was so much to take in – the raw passion, the love, the hurt, the correlation between the beauty of this couple’s second chance and the pain endured during years of separation... I was an emotional wreck. Cried ugly tears and sniffled my way through boxes of tissues before the broken pieces of my soul were placed back together. Walk Through Fire was amazing and worth every damn tear I shed.

Walk Through Fire is the fourth installment in my absolute favorite biker series – CHAOS. This time, it’s the enigmatic Logan “High” Judd’s turn to rip off his mask and tell his story. In past novels, High struck me as both mysterious and troublesome. I didn’t know what to expect from his character and honestly, when meeting him in Motorcycle Man I didn’t care for him. He was at odds with MY Tack, bucking heads and creating tension within the club. It left a bad taste in my mouth. So going in, I braced myself for the intensity and edginess of his character, and it took me some time to warm up to him.

I have to admit, there were parts of this story where I had a difficult time with High’s character. There were times I saw the ugliness in the callous way he treated Millie (mind you, it was when they first reunited and before they had a chance to sort their heads out). I get why he was angry, cold hearted and hurtful. Millie unexpectedly and inexplicably tossed Logan out of her life twenty years ago, but he and his brothers were beyond harsh. (Hop, you pissed me off, brother, and I am still holding a grudge).

But then, I reached a turning point when realizing High was trapped within the confines of his own hell. Losing Millie destroyed him, turning him into a bitter man, who’ll do anything to numb his heartache. Meeting Millie again, after all these years apart, he was desperate to guard himself from further hurt. Seeing his pain chipped away all the resentment I held and he had my sympathies.

The story itself frequently flashes back to the past, showing their beginnings as well as the three years they were together. Their love was beyond beautiful and I absolutely adored the younger, carefree Logan that gave his heart entirely to Millie. She was his world and losing her broke him, so I totally get why he was unpleasant. Once all hell breaks loose and Millie FINALLY explains why she pushed Logan away, (excruciatingly intense scene) I saw his tender side emerged, causing me fall deeper in love with him. Beneath all the sexy ruggedness, lies a passionate man who is forgiving, loving and compassionate.

Working through my moods swinging from raging anger to swooning over all the magnificence that was High, I have to say all along, he was one sizzling sonnavabitch. Every time he spoke … ”Hear?” I freaking melted. I love a sexy bad boy and just thinking about all his hotness gets me all riled up.

Millicent Cross… her life tore me to shreds and made my heart hurt. In the flashbacks, we see a young, vivacious girl who’s head over heels in love with the quintessential biker bad boy. They worked hard to build a life together, planning their dreams and finding comfort within the club. Until one day, it all fell apart.

Here’s the thing that pains me about Millie - of her own volition, she walked away from true love, shattered Logan’s heart into smithereens, while sentencing herself to a hopeless life filled with loneliness. She suffered silently.

With out revealing any spoilers, Millie had her reasons – and when discovering them, I was a goner and sobbed. But my head and heart were conflicted. In the back of my mind I wanted to scream at Millie and knock some sense into her shouting NO! How could you do such thing? Logan’s hot, sweet and sexy, just talk to him! However, my heart understood exactly why she chose to walk through fire for her man. Millie loves Logan so completely, that when realizing she could not give him everything, she sacrificed herself to give him a chance to have it all. As foolish as it may sound to purposely break two hearts, her actions where undeniably selfless and in the end, she gave Logan the greatest gift. Her strength was immeasurable and her devotion to Logan was absolute as she carried the burden of blame for years.

Understanding aside, it was hard for me to rationalize Millie’s decision; I was crushed and decimated in seeing her anguish. Ashley penned Millie’s character in such a way that I actually felt her emptiness echoing inside me, slicing through my heart, leaving me aching. KA proved once again the power she holds over my emotions.

Once the truth came pouring out, two decades worth of anger, bitterness, resentment and pain were transformed into steamy passion. Millie and High embraced the mistakes of the past and love they share in hopes of moving on to heal one another. It was one hell of a roller coaster ride feeling every emotion these characters experienced - from moments of laughter and levity, to gut wrenching confessions, I held on tight and enjoyed the ride.

Of course I relished all the drama. The angst involved with Benito causing problems for club, Elvira and the Old Ladies meddling in everyone’s affairs, family issues complicating Logan and Millie’s lives…so many nail biting moments and I savored all the craziness. The epilogue was shorter than what I am used to, but it was sweet regardless and laid groundwork for what may come in the next installment (cross fingers it will be Hound’s story). What I loved most of all were the flashbacks to not only the beginning if this couples’ relationship, but the earlier days of Chaos before Tack took the helm. Seeing wee little Tabby and Rush (so adorable) and finally meeting Black, the brother Chaos tragically lost. I was all weepy eyed getting to know him briefly only to mourn him.

Another soul touching romance gifted from Kristen Ashley’s beautiful imagination. Walk Through Fire was a story of sacrifice, forgiveness, redemption and the everlasting power of love. A story about strong heroine who walk through the fires of hell for her man, and a hero who worked tirelessly to mend the broken heart of his one true love despite his own pain. As far as awarding stars to this read, there aren’t enough stars in the sky. Thank you, Kristen, for voicing Millie’s story so eloquently and bringing to life the heartache involved with her circumstances. This was not an easy story for me to read, but the experience was incredible.

5 I’ll Walk through Fire for You Stars

Walk Through Fire is a standalone and is part of the Chaos series. I will admit, I was nervous starting Walk Through Fire. I loved the previous one, Ride Steady mega hard and so my expectations were super high. Walk Through Fire is different from Ride Steady. There’s more angst and definitely more detail. The book is over 600 pages! I’m not against long books and usually Kristen Ashley reads are lengthy, but even my eyes bugged out a bit.

What I enjoyed the most from this book are the emotions Kristen Ashley made me feel. The first 30% is really intense and yes a bit angsty. Millie and Logan have a crazy love story. They met in their twenties, fell in love, hard and fast and then some stuff happens and Millie left Logan.

This devastated Logan, now High. He’s never been the same since and he carries a huge grudge against his ex. It’s twenty something years later and Millie is back, sort of.

I LOVE old flames/lovers book. I love these reads because it’s so dramatic, emotional and there’s so much character development. You get an understanding who Millie is and you get an understanding of who High is and it will just suck you in, but in a very good way.

There are some flash backs and I usually cringe when I read those, BUT these were very much needed. I needed the memories between Logan and Millie. I had to see the love they had and why they lost it. The book shifts towards the 50% mark. I really liked this. It changed the tone of the read and I felt like it picked up more.

A lot goes on in the book. Millie and Logan go in circles working out their non-existent relationship, which is completely addicting to read. Logan also faces Chaos drama, as the rival club starts trouble.

I really liked Millie. I thought she was strong, fierce and I wanted to know badly what caused the break-up. I liked how she was different from the other old ladies. Millie is educated, loves interior design and is kind of ODC. Kristen Ashley knows how to write a good Hero and High is no exception. There are times you will want to hit him and times you will melt for him. He’s a complex character and the love he has towards Millie goes deep. The love they have towards each other is SUPER DEEP and that really made the story.

So much pain, heart ache and regret is in this book and yes I even cried! It wouldn’t be a Kristen Ashley read if I didn’t.

If you love the series, or Kristen Ashley you will NOT be disappointed.
