When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Brave Alfonse are +Def and -Spd. Both Majestic Glitnir and Makings of a King rely on Brave Alfonse's Def for their respective effects, and boosting Def ensures they remain at maximum effectiveness.
Brave Alfonse's Spd is a clear dump stat and should be the bane of choice.
We recommend +Def when merging Brave Alfonse up to +10 to fully utilize both Majestic Glitnir and Makings of a King.

Brave Alfonse's exclusive Special Makings of a King boosts his Special damage by 30% of his Def + Def 【Great Talent】, has built-in damage reduction up to 40%, and introduces the new 【Great Talent】 mechanic.
【Great Talent】 stats are additional stats that cannot be stolen or affected by 【Panic】. These stats essentially act as permanent stat boosts that last for the entire battle.
At the start of each turn, Makings of a King grants Brave Alfonse Atk/Def/Res 【Great Talent】 +2 and all allies within 3 rows or 3 columns Atk/Def/Res 【Great Talent】 +1.
After combat, if Makings of a King triggered, it grants Brave Alfonse Atk/Def/Res 【Great Talent】 +4 and all allies within 3 rows or 3 columns Atk/Def/Res 【Great Talent】 +2.
The additional 【Great Talent】 stats granted by Makings of a King are capped at +20 for Brave Alfonse and +10 for his allies.
In game modes where the opponent doesn't act immediately, or is far away from your team, Makings of a King can be used to stack up extra Atk/Def/Res 【Great Talent】 for the entire team, boosting the performance of the entire team before battles become necessary.
Makings of a King makes Brave Alfonse incredibly tanky, especially when paired with Majestic Glitnir and his base kit's Fortifications granting additional bulk and 【Divine Vein (Stone)】 terrain plus Reopening granting additional damage reduction and a Guard effect.
Brave Alfonse takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Thani or Binding Reginleif, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

All of these skills are very good and worth inheriting onto your favorite units. However, Brave Alfonse is arguably one of the best units in the entire game. Think carefully before foddering him off.
