Not all characters have the same Max Energy. In other words, characters have different Energy requirements. Characters with high Max Energy will take more time to use their Ultimates compared to those with lower Max Energy.
Skills are the most effective way of building up Energy in combat. However, not all characters in your party have the luxury of using their Skill in every turn. You will need to manage and save your Skill Points to be victorious in battles.

Current Energy can be found at the bottom of the Status screen. |
Using Ultimates will use up the accumulated Energy, but will give back 5 Energy after activation. This helps with getting the Ultimate back up sooner.
Energy can be gained by getting hit or defeating enemies. This helps Tanks and Supports with their Energy regeneration as they seldom use their Skills, unlike DPS characters. DPS characters usually have higher Max Energy because they are likely to use their Skills every turn and can easily defeat enemies.
