shot from shuttle boat, Astoria/Queens to Long Island City, New York City

From the Tay road bridge this evening.

The Kapellbrücke (literally, Chapel Bridge) is a covered wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the Reuss River in the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Named after the nearby St. Peter's Chapel, the bridge is unique because it contains a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with most of the centuries-old bridge in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge.

The bridge itself was originally built in 1333 as part of Lucerne's fortifications. It linked the old town on the right bank of the Reuss to the new town on the left bank, securing the city from attack from the south (i.e. from the lake).

Florence is a very attractive city and the river in good light gives some lovely reflections.

This was from an old slide I found. I took the picture years ago somewhere in Hoosac Falls, New York.

A beautiful sunset behind the Forth Bridges.

The Dean Bridge spans the Water of Leith in the city of Edinburgh on the A90 road to Queensferry on the Firth of Forth. It carries the roadway, 447 feet (136 m) long and 39 feet (12 m) broad, on four arches rising 106 feet (32 m) above the river. The bridge was one of the last major works before retirement of the bridge designer, civil engineer Thomas Telford, and was completed in 1831 when he was seventy-three years old.

Liberty Bridge seen from Pest

This is the famous Bridge Across the Atlantic. It can be found at Clachan of Seil in Argyll on the West of Scotland. Please visit this area if you happen to be in Oban, you will find it breathtaking, especially if you continue along the road to Easedale. The bridge was constructed 224 years ago just after the Jacobite rebellion, soldiers took cover from fighting in the tiny pub at Clachan beside this bridge. Go for a visit and you will be delighted that you did.

Bridges mostly come in pairs along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. One for rail cars, the other for automobiles.

The early fifteenth century Great Barford Bridge, sometimes called simply Barford Bridge, spans the River Great Ouse at Great Barford, Bedfordshire. It is an arch bridge with seventeen arches, originally built from limestone and sandstone. The bridge underwent significant changes in the 19th century, with a widening project in 1818 that used wood being superseded in 1874 with the use of brick. It is Grade I listed and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Beziers, La France

Béziers is a city in southern France. It is a subprefecture of the Hérault department in the Occitanie region. Every August Béziers hosts the famous Feria de Béziers, which is centred on bullfighting. A million visitors are attracted to the five-day event.

The town is located on a small bluff above the river Orb, about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) from the Mediterranean coast and 75 kilometres (47 miles) southwest of Montpellier. At Béziers, the Canal du Midi passes over the river Orb by means of the Pont-canal de l'Orb, an aqueduct claimed to be the first of its kind.

This little three-arch bridge is in the hamlet of Huccaby, near the village of Hexworthy in the centre of the Dartmoor National Park. The bridge, which is also known as Hexworthy Bridge, crosses the River West Dart. It is Grade II-listed and dates from the late 1700s.
