"Don't measure things by mere "mortal" standards - all that matters is balance. The current Supreme Kai of Time is too lenient. So I'm taking over and erasing them for her. No luck, no ability...and no false histories!" |
Aeos[1] (アイオス Aiosu, lit. "Agios") is the former Supreme Kai of Time and the leader of the Warriors in Black. She is the initial main antagonist in the Supreme Kai of Time Saga and supervisor of the Super Space-Time Tournament.
Concept and Creation[]
Aeos' design bears resemblance to one of Chronoa's early concept designs, which had her with blue skin rather than pink skin. However, this design differs from Aeos in that the blue skinned Chronoa has pink hair, though like Aeos her clothing is a dark blue.
Aeos' name is likely based off the Greek word for "saint" or "blessed".
Appearance[]
Aeos is a short and petite Supreme Kai of a youthful appearance with aquamarine hair and pale teal skin. Like most Supreme Kais, she wears a pair of blue Potara earrings and robes similar to those worn by the Supreme Kais on the Sacred World of the Kai, though it has a more casual design that is distinctly feminine that bears a black crop top under a blue and yellow coat, a light yellow sash, black arm warmers and pants. She also sports a pair of white gloves with yellow linings and white high-heeled boots. She also wears a gold hat which has miniature clock symbols on it. In the game art, Aeos doesn't have her eyebrows, but in the anime and manga, she has her eyebrows.
Personality[]
As a former Supreme Kai of Time, Aeos is dedicated to maintaining the balance of time, something she taught to her eventual successor Chronoa as key to their mission as Supreme Kai of Time. However, she prioritizes this belief above all else, and became displeased by Chronoa's leniency towards the creation of multiple divergent timelines, citing the continuous distortion of time and the actions of various villains as a reason to eliminate them permanently (even wondering if Mechikabura would have been a better, more decisive successor than Chronoa). Aeos was disillusioned by what she perceived as "false histories" and, amidst a premonition of a great evil, sought to use the Super Space-Time Tournament as a means of whittling down timelines she deemed unnecessary until a victorious timeline remained and became the "true history" she envisioned.
Like other deities, Aeos is detached from mortal standards and affairs, coldly viewing them as irrelevant in her grand scheme. She is content with the erasure of innocent lives for the purpose of curating a single timeline, putting her at odds with Chronoa and the Time Patrol. Her sanctimonious attitude and destructive actions make her little different than Zamasu.
However, she isn't quite as uptight and cold as she appears to present herself as. In the manga, after seemingly erasing the victorious teams of the first round, she laughs at Yamcha's comical terror and reveals she only sent them to the second round, and even wishes him luck in surviving afterwards. When watching Goku activate Ultra Instinct Sign, she could barely stifle her laughter when Goku declared he would win, wondering how he could say such a foolish thing with such a straight face. Additionally, she apologized for accidentally hitting her Mysterious Guide with a blast meant for Chronoa.
Aeos's beliefs begin to shift after Dark King Demigra, the premonition of evil she had sensed, hijacks the Super Space-Time Tournament. Though initially remaining doubtful of Chronoa's belief in the heroic warriors across time, she sets aside her animosity towards mortals by teaming up with Chronoa, Xeno Gogeta and Vegito to prioritize the preservation of all space-time rather than allow Demigra to initiate a much worse outcome for space-time altogether.
Biography[]
Background[]
Aeos once reigned as the Supreme Kai of Time. 75 million years before the Supreme Kai of Time Saga, Aeos had found potential successors to her position in Chronoa and Mechikabura, and entrusted them each with an egg laid by the God Bird, Tokitoki. At some point, she was approached by a rookie mage named Demigra, who wished to become Supreme Kai of Time, but Aeos turned him down due to his lack of experience and skill.
Eventually, Chronoa succeeded in becoming the new Supreme Kai of Time, and Aeos retired from the position. However, during Chronoa's tenure as Supreme Kai of Time, Aeos became disillusioned by the many timelines that had been created and began to believe that only one timeline, a "true history", should be allowed to exist. After numerous machinations by ambitious villains, including Mechikabura, Demigra and Fu, Aeos decided she would realize her vision of a true history by erasing the unnecessary timelines under the guise of a Super Space-Time Tournament, and then retake her position as Supreme Kai of Time from Chronoa in the aftermath. To that end, she recruited the Warriors in Black as her enforcers and prepared to make her move.

New Space-Time War Saga[]
Aeos first appeared speaking with the Warrior in Black, asking him if he saved his son. She then informs him and his fellow Warriors in Black that her time has come.
Supreme Kai of Time Saga[]
"The amount of timelines has increased too much; I can no longer rely on Chronoa. I had to step in." |
Aeos confronts Chronoa in the Time Vault over the numerous timelines, claiming she can no longer rely on her to manage the Scrolls of Eternity and that she will take them for herself. Chronoa is prepared to use all her power to stop her, but Aeos' Warriors in Black appear to prevent Chronoa from doing so. Aeos then prepares to start the Super Space-Time Tournament, gathering various warriors from each Scroll of Eternity to fight for their existences.
Aeos is later seen overseeing the tournament unfold, musing about the overflow of new timelines and how she couldn't leave the duty of Supreme Kai of Time to Chronoa any longer and was forced to step in. After the first round of the tournament is over, Aeos appears and intervenes in the battle between Xeno Trunks and the Future Warrior in Black, using the power of time to stop their attacks before sending them away through a space-time distortion.
In the manga, Aeos is later seen through a televised screen, explaining the true intent of the Super Space-Time Tournament towards Goku's team, Team 1. As she states, The Super Space-Time Tournament evaluates the fighting ability and "luck" of each individual from each point of history and who would be at Time's "Luck". as this Tournament was held to observe their fate and claims that Team 1's warriors were blessed with great luck and achieved victory. and finally, Aeos claims that what they see here, is the selection of "True History".
"Just think about it. Wouldn't you consider it to be strange, for there to be a world wherein same people live and evolve differently? There can only be one timeline that exists. An increased number of timelines distort Time and Space, and interfere with the flow of other Space-Times. False timelines are a hinderance for true Historical progress..." |
Later on, Aeos incinerates the losing teams' Scrolls of Eternity and personally presents herself to the winning teams, congratulating them for their success at winning the first round of the tournament and once more tells them of her true intentions, how timelines distort one another and why she has to take back her position from Chronoa once more. Angered by Aeos brushing her actions off as simply the fate those histories were destined to meet, Xeno Trunks attacks her with a Sword Blast, but Aeos snaps her fingers and causes Xeno Trunks and his attack to vanish on the spot at such a speed that neither Jiren nor Hit could follow. Everyone assumes Aeos erased Xeno Trunks, much like she did with the Scrolls of Eternity, as she reminds them all of her status as former Supreme Kai of Time. She states that when the true singular history is decided from the tournament, she will retake her title from Chronoa, much to the chagrin of the Time Patrollers who don't want a Supreme Kai who doesn't care about people. Aeos remains cold, saying that in order to maintain the balance of time, the alternate timelines had to disappear.
This is the final straw for the gathered teams, as Xeno Goten, Xeno Gohan, Xeno Pan, Hearts, Xeno Vegeta and Vegeta all begin to charge attacks at her (the latter two demanding she bring Xeno Trunks back) before firing, as Aeos leaves her Warriors in Black to intercept the blasts and leave her unharmed. Calling the Time Patrollers rebellious, she makes them disappear as well, before vanishing Hearts' group, followed by Goku's team. Unfortunately for Yamcha, he is the only member left in the area, and - panicked to all hell - tries to run off despite there being nowhere to run and begs Aeos not to erase him too. His antics actually crack Aeos up, and she reveals she didn't really erase them, only sent them to the next round during her Time Freeze. She tells Yamcha to give it his best in order to survive before teleporting him as well, starting off the second round of the Super Space-Time Tournament.
During the second round, Chronoa visits Aeos and asks that she return the Time Scrolls only for her to respond that if she wants them then she should try taking them from her and proceeds to conjure up a mass of Time Scrolls into a box and then with a flick of her fingers sends Chronoa and herself outside.
Aeos tells Chronoa that she will show her no mercy if she intends to get in the way of her plans and proceeds to transform into the Time Power Unleashed state. In response, Chronoa uses the same state though says she will not use the form to battle Aeos but merely wants to talk. However, Aeos believes that talking is pointless and promptly attacks Chronoa with an energy blast. Chronoa holds off the blast as she tries to explain that she too is aware of the danger that increasing timelines brings but chooses to place her faith in the possibilities that the timelines hold. With exerted effort, Aeos overpowers Chronoa and knocks her to the ground.
Goku then appears with the Time Fairy in tow and checks on the injured Chronoa. Goku then turns towards Aeos and offers his thanks to her for being responsible for hosting the tournament that has given him the opportunity to fight many strong opponents but asks that she not erase any timelines. Aeos asks if he lacks the confidence to win the tournament, but Goku simply points out that there are living beings in the other timelines and erasing them would be wrong.
Aeos declines his request and attempts to use her powers to freeze him but within a blink of an eye Goku teleports behind her and transforms into his Ultra Instinct Sign state. The two battle with Goku being relentless in his attacks so as to not give Aeos the time needed to perform her magic. Aeos surrounds Goku with a swarm of small energy blasts, but Goku uses his Instant Transmission to appear right in front of Aeos before letting off a Kamehameha at point blank range. Aeos acknowledges the danger that Goku possesses and vows to eliminate him.
Before being able to make an attempt at doing so, the Time Nest is invaded by the new Dark King, Demigra, now with the Time Scrolls in his possession and with sights of a new age of fear in which he would rule. Aeos makes a temporary alliance with Goku in face of this new threat.
However, the two are clearly outmatched by Demigra's newfound power, with even a Time Labyrinth being unable to hold Demigra in place. Chronoa reaches out to Aeos telepathically and asks her to distract Demigra as she has a plan. Aeos gets to her feet and powers up as she attempts to slow down Demigra in a field that manipulates both time and space, but the Dark King is able to break free out of the technique after unleashing his power. He goes to strike Aeos down but is instead struck hard in the face by Super Saiyan Blue Vegito and sent flying. As the super warriors continue to fight Demigra, the Supreme Kais of Time are able to recover.
Aeos asks Chronoa if allowing the stream of timelines to grow is really worth it, since even if they succeed in besting Demigra, a much greater threat than the Dark King would certainly be on the horizon. Chronoa, however, remains faithful that with the expansion of timelines, the opposite is also true - a much greater hope can stand up to the threat - and she is more than willing to place her trust in the Time Patrol and their allies.
Deciding to believe in Chronoa, Aeos helps her stand and the two shake hands, sending a humongous burst of energy into the air. The energy eventually transfers to Goku, Future Warrior in Black and Xeno Bardock as they struggle to match Demigra's energy ball, allowing them to awaken their greatest power and obliterate Demigra with a 3 Generations Kamehameha.
With the tournament over, Aeos begins to head off to explore various other Space-Times in order to determine with her own eyes whether there should be only one true Space-Time or whether it is possible for multiple of them to co-exist. She decides to entrust things to Chronoa once more but tells her that if she finds her beliefs to be in the wrong, she will return. The two then shake hands, having amended things, at least for the time being and heads off with the rest of the Warriors in Black.
Demon Invader Saga[]
In a specific time space, Aeos is sitting on her throne but gets up from it for a specific reason.[2] After Majin Ozotto's defeat, Aeos appears and places the last remaining piece of him in a container. She then brings forth Super Shenron and has him restore the Space-Time back to the way it was before Ozotto intervened.[3]
Power[]
- Manga and Anime
In the anime, in her Time Power Unleashed state, Aeos is able to defeat Chronoa in the same form after a brief battle. She then proves capable of fighting evenly with Ultra Instinct Sign Goku.
Abilities[]
- Flight - The ability to fly through the use of ki.
- Godly ki - As a Supreme Kai, Aeos possesses the ability to utilize and sense godly ki.
- Telekinesis - A technique that allows the user to manipulate objects and other people with the power of one's mind.
- Time Manipulation - As the former Supreme Kai of Time, Aeos' is capable of manipulating and controlling time.
- Freeze - The special ability to temporarily stop time. Aeos is extremely experienced with using the move, capable of freezing both consciousness and body.
- Time Condemnation - The user powers up the clock-like figure behind them and forms an energy sphere from their index finger, which shoots like a powerful laser-like beam that explodes upon impact.
- Time Trap - A technique Aeos uses by creating temporal portals that she and her opponents can pass through, speeding up the former and slowing down the latter.
- Divination - Aeos covers her eyes in a time symbol shape, allowing her to perceive the future much more easily at the cost of being unable to use any other ability so long as it is active. Goku notes it as being similar to Hearts' ability to read the hearts of opponents and predict their next move.
- Time Rail - The user summons several circular space-time ruptures in the shape of gears to reverse the movements of an attack or person. Used in the manga against Chronoa.
- Time Destruction - Aeos traps her opponent within a clock construct before destroying it, erasing them from spacetime and causing them to disappear. Used in Dragon Ball Heroes.
- Time Cancellation - Aeos can temporarily cancel the effects of time on a selected individual. Used on Xeno Gogeta to allow him to safely tap into his full power for ten minutes.
- Eternal Labyrinth - The user fires an energy sphere of time at their opponent which forms a temporal structure around them. Gears would then form inside the sphere and start spinning until they stop, freezing everything within the structure in place.
- Time Judgment - Chronoa freezes time as she and Aeos move behind their opponents and fire energy clock hands at them, sealing them in an energy like clock that stops time for their mind and body.
- Portal Opening - Aeos can manipulate space-time to create portals to counter attacks by removing them from local time-space. Used to stop the Future Warrior in Black and Xeno Trunks' attacks.
- Reflect - Used in Dragon Ball Heroes.
- Time Power Unleashed
Aeos retained her Time Power Unleashed state from her previous tenure as the Supreme Kai of Time.
This state grants her a taller, more mature appearance. She attains a shapelier figure, lengthened hair, teal irises, and magenta, azure and gold attire and her gloves and her boots are changed to dark red. Like Chronoa, she acquires a vibrant energy Halo, which resembles a clock with hands pointing at ten and two o'clock positions, though hers is blue. Alternatively, Aeos can partially manifest the power of the form without needing to fully unleash the transformation.
In this form, Aeos gains the power to not only overwhelm Chronoa's own Time Power Unleashed entirely but also keep up against Ultra Instinct Sign Goku's power. It also seems that her adult physique has given her impressive flexibility and speed enough to also keep up against Ultra Instinct Sign Goku's assault of attacks, though she was unable to truly damage him in return.
Aeos uses the suppressed version of the form to fight Demigra, though she is easily outmatched by the powered-up Dark King.
- Potara - Earrings worn by Supreme Kais and their apprentices. Despite being worn so casually, they have incredible properties, allowing two individuals to fuse or permitting the wearer to use the Time Rings.
- Time Scrolls - Scrolls which record the official history of various timelines and can be used as a medium with which to travel through time. Due to the increase in the number of various timelines, Aeos feels that Chronoa is unfit to remain Supreme Kai of Time and decided to seize control of the Time Vault and the scrolls contained within.
- Lucky Time Box - It is a box that stores the Time Scrolls, which can still be used to summon people from other timelines.

Trivia[]
- Similarly, to Chronoa, Aeos' name takes inspiration from a real-world time deity, specifically Aion/Aeon, the Greek God of Perpetual Time and Eternity.
- Aeos is similar to Zeno and Future Zeno, as similar to their desire to reduce the number of universes, Aeos wishes to reduce the number of various alternate timelines that had increased under Chronoa's reign as Supreme Kai of Time.
- Additionally similar to the Omni-Kings' creation of the Tournament of Power, she creates her own tournament Super Space-Time Tournament.
- Aeos is also similar to Zamasu in that she has little if any regard for mortals and would willingly kill other deities if they tried to stop her. But unlike him she changed her opinion of them after getting to know Goku.
