Sol is a recurring weapon in the series, first appearing as a Lance in Fire Emblem Gaiden, before later manifesting in both TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga and Fire Emblem Awakening as a Sword.
Functioning as the most daunting Lance in Gaiden, Sol is only partially overshadowed by the Gradivus, that which possesses more range. Mogalls have a low chance to drop the lance. It restores the user's HP by 5 points every turn.
In TearRing Saga the Sol Sword is notable for having the highest might among non-star swords as well as having the highest hit rate in the game. Its other stats are very good too and it is effective against Monsters.
In Awakening, Sol returns as a Sword, where it first appears as the weapon of choice wielded by Walhart in Chapter 19, when it is dropped upon defeating him. The weapon transiently grants its wielder the Sol skill, provided that it is equipped.
Sol returns in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia where it is once again a Lance. Sol's weight has been increased by 2 and its might has been reduced by 5. In exchange for its lowered stats, Sol now gives the Solar Thrust skill.

- Despite having been changed to a sword in Awakening, Sol is the only one of Gaiden's special lances to retain its original form in Shadows of Valentia.
- The ☆Canaan Lance that hails from TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga appears to have been fashioned after the Sol lance from Gaiden.
