Jeralt's Mercenaries (ジェラルト傭兵団 Jeraruto yōhei-dan) are a mercenary group in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.
Profile[]
Jeralt's Mercenaries were founded by its titular member, Jeralt, after he left the Knights of Seiros. The group gradually grew in size and gained renown until they became known as the greatest mercenary group in all of Leicester. Much of this is due to the contributions of one of its strongest members, Byleth, who came to be known as the Ashen Demon due to their unflinching courage in battle.
A number of years prior to the events of Three Houses, Jeralt performed mercenary work in Sauin Village in Leicester territory. While there, he made a strong impression on a young Leonie, who resolved to follow in his footsteps as a mercenary.
Despite their reputation in Leicester, Jeralt's Mercenaries have taken work from the Empire and Kingdom as well, and at the start of Three Houses, were in the Empire village of Remire in preparation to travel to the Kingdom for their next commission before fate intervened.
Three Houses[]
One night, Jeralt and Byleth find a nearby village under attack from Kostas and his band of mercenaries that threatens three students from the Officers Academy. After saving them, Jeralt runs into Alois, an old colleague from his time in the Knights of Seiros, and at his urging, he returned to Garreg Mach Monastery. Once there, Archbishop Rhea restored Jeralt's position as captain of the Knights of Seiros, and offered Byleth a job as a teacher, resulting in the two most prominent members of Jeralt's Mercenaries doing work for the Church for a time. Some of the veteran mercenaries work alongside them in the form of a Battalion.
Warriors: Three Hopes[]
As part of her aim to elevate her mercenary group to the greatest in all of Leicester, Captain Berling of Berling's Mercenaries launches an attack on Jeralt's Mercenaries. While her mercenary group does well initially, each member is rapidly cut down once reinforcements led by Byleth enter the fray. The last surviving member, Shez, is able to repel Byleth utilizing the power of Arval, and they swear revenge as Jeralt's Mercenaries depart.
Following the start of the war, Jeralt's Mercenaries enter the employ of whichever forces oppose Shez's faction in each of the three story routes. Alois, having left the Knights of Seiros after the invasion of Garreg Mach Monastery, is also now a member of the mercenary company. By taking the proper steps, Shez can convince Jeralt and Byleth to work with them rather than against them, and allow Jeralt's Mercenaries to enter the employ of their faction. Alternatively, Shez may kill Jeralt in battle and make Byleth their mortal enemy.
