"Island Rhythm" is a song that plays in the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse episode "The Enchanting Hut". The song is first heard at the opening of the episode sung by a chorus of birds of paradise, orchids, palm trees, and exotic birds in chorus.
Background[]
The song is first heard at the opening of the episode sung by a chorus of birds of paradise, orchids, palm trees, and exotic birds in chorus. As they sing, the song is suddenly interrupted when an anthropomorphic storm cloud arrives at the area where Mickey, Minnie, the tropical plants, and the exotic birds are at. At the end of the episode, the song plays again in the newly-constructed enchanted hut as a reprise where the tropical plants and exotic birds sing along together inside the hut with the cloud who was redeemed as he dances happily on the fountain while Mickey and Minnie dance along just before the last shot loops to the exterior of the hut, ending the episode.
Lyrics[]
(vocalizing and harmonizing)
See the tropical creatures call
To the beating of a distant drum
Dancing to the island rhythm
Island rhythm now
Dancing to the island rhythm
Island rhythm now
(vocalizing and harmonizing)
See the tropical creatures call
To the beating of a distant drum
Dancing to the island rhythm
Island rhythm now
Dancing to the island rhythm now!
Trivia[]
- This song is heavily inspired by Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room as well as the episode itself. The ending melody that plays at the end of the song has a striking resemblance to The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room from said attraction.
- When the song was included in the album Music from the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, the parts where the storm cloud interrupts the song was omitted, combining the track into an extended version without interruptions, though it uses the same lyrics from the episode itself.
